Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction

Section 5

• provides for the creation of the National Disaster Risk


Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) which
is formerly known as the National Disaster Coordinating
Council but its membership and functions have increased
to cope with complexities of disasters at present times.

Section 10

• provides for the creation of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and
Management Council (RDRRMC), formerly known as Regional
Disaster Coordinating Council (RDCC). RDRRMC coordinates,
integrates, supervises, and evaluates the activities of the local
Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (LDRRMCs).
The RDRRMC is responsible in ensuring disaster sensitive regional
development plans, in case of emergencies; RDRRMC shall convene
the different regional line agencies and concerned institutions and
authorities.

• provides for the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and


Management Fund (LDRRMF) which is not less than five
percent (5%) of the estimated revenue from regular sources
shall be set aside as the LDRRMF to support disaster risk
management activities such as, but not limited to, pre disaster
preparedness programs including training, purchasing life-
saving rescue equipment, supplies and medicines, for post-
disaster activities, and for the payment of premiums on
calamity insurance.
