Executive summary
The application of big data analytic systems in healthcare organizations is fast evolving
with rapid change recorded in the past two decades. Effective organization, storage and
lowered the quality-of-service delivery in healthcare organizations. Currently, hospitals apply big
data analytical tools in the identification and management of high risk and high-cost patients.
Sources of big data in healthcare systems include medical records, hospital records, systems
integrated with IoT and results from medical examinations. Hospitals rely on bid data system to
record, organize and store healthcare information that are used in service delivery, this has had a
operations have transformed from semi-digital to autonomous system through use of artificial
intelligence and Internet of Thing (IoT). As Dash et al (2019) records, treatment models have
changed since hospitals adopted the use of big data techniques such as electronic health records
(EHRs) where every patient is assigned their own digital health record in their portal. Real-time
alerting systems are widely used in healthcare organizations to assist doctors and nurses with
advices while making prescriptive decision through use of Clinical Decision Support (CDS)
software. The article summarizes the quite a number of analytical tools derived from big data
that have positively impacted quality service delivery, management practices, system intelligence
From the course, we have learnt that data analysis plays a critical role in ensuring that
understand that rightful application of big data analytical tools enhance management processes
and service delivery to patients. Since big data tools are based on science and technology, for
effective management and analysis of these big data, there is need to have sufficient knowledge
on healthcare data framework, complexity and analytics in healthcare system (Mehta et al. 2020).
Analyzing and processing of big data is more complex in healthcare applications as compared to
other industries since these systems are used to monitor and provide treatment to humans thus
Healthcare organizations have adopted big data analytical tools offer effective structural
medical care and improve on the quality of service delivered to patients. The information
technology systems within healthcare organizations have to keep up with the dual effects of
intelligence surveillance. For instance, the emergence of e-health systems has revolutionized
healthcare system such that patients no longer have to keep documents of their clinical records
when visiting healthcare facilities. With EHRs, patient’s records are remotely stored within the
cloud database storage system and can be accessed by any hospital with EHRs systems. The
gains of big data in healthcare systems are tremendous and had revolutionized the service
