2. In Figure (c), a hemispheric vessel of radius 26 cm was originally fully filled with water and held on a
horizontal ground. A solid metal circular cone with height 70 cm and base diameter 48 cm is now held
vertically in the vessel.

3. The below cumulative frequency polygon shows the scores of a group of students in the Mathematics
mid-term exam. The last class interval is 81 – 90. (7 marks)

(a) Write down

(i) the mean score ; _____________________
(ii) the median score ; _____________________
th
(iii) the 15 percentile ; _____________________
(iv) the modal class(es) ; _____________________
(b) The following stem-and-leaf diagram shows the distribution of the scores of the same group of
students in the Mathematics final exam.
Stem (tens) Leaf (units)
3 1 3 3 7 7 8
4 2 2 2 3 4 6 6 7 9
5 4 4 4 a 6 6 7 8 8 8 9

7 3 3 4 5 5 6 6 6 6 c 7
8 5 7 7 7 7
9 0 0 4 5 5 9
The modes of the score of the students in the final exam are 54, 76 and 87. A teacher claims that the
students’ performance is generally poorer in the final exam because the median score is lower. Do
you agree? Explain your answer.
