Start Surfer 8.

Go to the grid menu and click “Data”.

Next, give location of the xyz (Easting, Northing, Depth) file.

Give location of the output grid file, and press ok.


Press ok for grid report

Close the grid report window below.


Now go to the option shown below,
Select the grid file selected in the previous step, and press open.
Contours should be there now but we need to adjust the interval and label size as
per our requirements.

Double click the contours option, as shown below.

Select the smoothing option as shown and press apply, (amount depends on the
data acquired but normally medium is good)
Go to level tab, and double click “Level” column heading as shown.

Specify the minimum, maximum and contour interval, based on your data set.
For labeling all the contours, double click heading of Label column and put 0 in
“Skip” option as shown below,

Finally press apply, and close the contour properties dialogue box.

Now go to file export and select the output type as dxf, give file name and press
save.
Use

following settings while exporting,

Save the surfer project and finally open the dxf file in autocad to QC the contours
and change the layers as per Horizon cad standards.
