Item 1

Uganda Metrological centre in Entebbe provides the metrological

studies to students who pursue higher studies in metrology. The
metrological school administration requested the students to make
weather balloons for air space use. But the students have been
affected by the inadequate hydrogen to infiltrate into the weather
balloons.
Hydrogen gas can be prepared by reacting a metal with an acid. The
college Administration purchased two metals X and Y.
You are provided with the following substances:

Solids X, Y and Z which are metal samples bought by the college.
FA1: which is a solution of Hydrochloric acid.
Hint: The time taken for the gas bubbles to stop forming is the time
required for the metal to completely displace the Hydrogen from its
acid solution.
TASK:
(a) As a learner of chemistry;
(i) Design an experiment you will carry out to determine the amount
of heat, produced during reaction between X, Y, Z and FA1
