ADDITIONAL READINGS

Dialogue 1:
STEVE: Hey, Matt.
MATT: Hi, Steve. What are you doing here?
STEVE: I’m reading this article. I have to finish today.
MATT: Why do you have to finish today?
STEVE: Because my boss wants me to extract the main
idea of this article.
MATT: What’s the article about?
STEVE: It’s about job opportunities in Europe.
MATT: That sounds interesting!
STEVE: It is interesting and also difficult. I’m trying to understand all these
numbers.
MATT: What’s Jolly doing on the computer?
STEVE: She is helping me. She is looking for some information on the Internet.
MATT: Do you need my help?
STEVE: Thank you, that’s very kind of you.

Dialogue 2:

MOLLY: Hi, Millie. Are you doing anything tomorrow?

MILLIE: Actually I’m not, Molly; what are you planning?
MOLLY: I’m planning a sleepover at home.
MILLIE: Awesome! When are you doing it?
MOLLY: Tomorrow evening.
MILLIE: What are we doing tomorrow evening?
MOLLY: Jane is bringing the food, Alice, the beverages and Kisha, the makeup.
MILLIE: Cool! I’m taking the candies with me.
MOLLY: Sure! That means I’m counting on you.
MILLIE: Do you know what is Alice doing right now?
MOLLY: She is doing rappel and Kisha is paragliding.
MILLIE: They are always moving! They just can’t be still for a moment!
MOLLY: Yes, I know! I’m surprised they’re doing such extreme activities.
MILLIE: Totally! I’m shaking here, just thinking about the idea of doing that!
MOLLY: And I know they are camping next week and bungee-jumping the week after.
MILLIE: I hope they’re not talking about their extreme adventures, but about how things are going with
their guys, Derek and Jaime.
MOLLY: Yes, you are right, but I must go now. My boyfriend is waiting for me.
MILLIE: No problem! Talk to you later.

Dialogue 3:

MARTIN: Hey, man! What are you up to?

HENRY: I’m packing my bag. I want to travel all over Colombia.
MARTIN: Awesome! Why do you wanna do it?
HENRY: Because I have a friend that invited me to visit all these cool
places with him. Right now, he is in “San Agustín, Huila” with
some other friends and they are camping and learning about
ancient native culture.
MARTIN: That sounds really good! What’s your girlfriend doing? Is she going with you?
HENRY: Yes, she is! She is getting all the information we need from her relatives and friends.
LUCY: Sweetie, I’m back! Here’s the list of the most beautiful touristic places in our country. My cousins
are trekking through “Caño Cristales” (probably the most beautiful river in Colombia), while my
aunt is admiring the architecture in “Villa de Leyva”, (a colonial town). My best friends are hiking
in Gorgona Island, a “World Heritage” Natural Park.
HENRY: Fantastic! I think the best option is “Caño Cristales”, because
they are celebrating the International “Joropo” Contest in
Villavicencio. That city is very close to the river!
LUCY: Yeah, and according to my aunt, it is raining too much over Villa de Leyva.
HENRY: Sounds good!
MARTIN: Well, guys… I have a date with my girlfriend in an hour and I don’t want
to be late.
LUCY: OK, Martin. Have a good one and say “hi” to her for me.
MARTIN: You got it! Bye, guys!
