Crochet Pattern
“Mouse”
Pattern “Mouse”. Author: Olya Radost.

I offer you to crochet the mouse by the pattern. The pattern doesn’t include any
crochet tutorial lessons and it is for those, who can crochet amigurumi toys. If you
use, the same materials, which are described below, you’ll have a toy mouse of
4.29-4.68 inches high. Head and arms are attached with splint fastening.

Supplies:
- Yarn Drops Nord (170m/50g) – 04 light grey and 05 grey. Yarn consumption
is less than ½ skein of main color (04 light grey) and a bit of 05 grey. You
can use any other yarn of the same characteristics.
- A hook of 1.75 mm. It’s better to use a hook suitable for the chosen yarn.
But the work mustn’t be with any holes;
- Fiberfill (synthetic insulation);
- A wooden stick to fill with fiber (a sushi stick), use a tooth stick to fill small
pieces with fiber;
- A pair of glass eyes on legs (2 mm);
- Sewing thread of the same color as main thread to attach ears and a tail;
- A tapestry needle;
- Some strong thread to attach the eyes;
- Black moulinet thread to embroider the nose (by “Riolis”);
- The pliers to attach splints;
- For head attachment: 2 disks of 15 mm, 1 T-splint 1’6*20 mm;
For arms attachment: 4 disks of 9 mm, 2 T-splints 1’6*20 mm.
For legs attachment: 4 disks of 18 mm, 2 T-splints 1’6*20 mm.

Notice:
It’s better to use yarn of the same characteristics as in the pattern to make the
toy. You can use another yarn, but the size of the toy can differ according to the
yarn thickness (the thicker yarn, the bigger toy).
Work tighten enough to make the toy accurately and the stitches even and pieces
without any holes (BUT it must be comfortable to work).
Use plastic or fiber disks, as they don’t break or bend.

Abbreviations:
Ch – chain;
Sl st – slip stitch;
Sc – single crochet;
Inc – increase;
Dec – decrease

Note: it’s better to make an invisible decrease:

Head
Begin with the nose. Place the marker along the bottom of the head.
Use thread color 04 light grey
1 row. 6 sc in MR
When the 1st row is ready, place the marker (or thread of another color) in the
1st sc of the row.
Check the marker, it must be exactly along the center of the head bottom. If it’s
necessary work a shifting sc (i.e. unwork the last sc of the row or work one more
sc of next row and place the marker). It’s better to work shifting sc in straight
rows.
2 row. 6 inc (12)
3 row. 12 sc
4 row. (1 sc, inc)×3 times, (inc, 1 sc)×3 times (18)
5 row. 18 sc
6 row. (2 sc, inc)×3 times, (inc, 2 sc)×3 times (24)
7 row. (3 sc, inc)×3 times, (inc, 3 sc)×3 times (30)
8 row. (4 sc, inc)×3 times, (inc, 4 sc)×3 times (36)
9 row. (5 sc, inc)×3 times, (inc, 5 sc)×3 times (42)

5
Pattern “Mouse”. Author: Olya Radost.

Advice: Place the marker to the place of 2 inc in the center of the 9th row. The
marker will help you to find the central line in the process of decoration.
10-18 row. 42 sc (9 rows)
19 row. (5 sc, dec)×6 times (36)
20 row. 36 sc
21 row. (4 sc, dec)×6 times (30)
22 row. (3 sc, dec)×6 times (24)
23 row. (2 sc, dec)×6 times (18)

Take one 15 mm disk and a T-splint. Make a splint fastening, i.e. insert the splint
in the disk. Insert this splint fastening in the bottom of the head in the center,
between 13 and 14 rows (the disk is inserted inside the head, and the splint faces
outside).

6

6 row. (4 sc, inc)×6 times (36)
7
Pattern “Mouse”. Author: Olya Radost.

7-8 row. 36 sc (2 rows)

Fix thread, don’t cut it (then hide tail thread while attaching).
Work the 2nd ear in the same way, as the 1st one.

Head decoration
Mark the center of the head with pins or thread of another color. It’ll help up to
attach the eyes and ears in the symmetry.

Take ears. Sew and tighten the top of the ear with a needle and sewing thread of
the same color as main thread. Don’t cut thread! Use it to attach the ear to the
head.

8
Pattern “Mouse”. Author: Olya Radost.

Attach ears to the head with pins between 14 and 15 rows in the distance of 7
stitches from the head center.

Hide tail threads inside the head. Sew the ears to the head with sewing thread,
which was left when making the ears form. Attach only the upper part of the ear,
9

which has been formed before (see the photo). Make required number of stitches
to fix the ear to the head.

10
Pattern “Mouse”. Author: Olya Radost.

Pin the places of contractions and eye attachment: between 6 and 7 rows, each
eye is in the distance of 5 stitches (6th row) from the central line.
Before eye attachment, make contractions. It’s necessary to make the eyes more
expressive. Take a tapestry needle and thread of main color. Insert a needle in the
bottom of the head (point 1) and then work according to the following points – 2-
3-4-5-1, which are depicted in the photo. Points 2 and 5 are eye attachment
places, and points 3 and 4 are opposite points to 2 and 5. Pull thread out the
beginning point 1. Tighten thread a bit, make 2-3 knots and hide tail thread inside
the head.

11
Pattern “Mouse”. Author: Olya Radost.

Take a pair of eyes on the leg and some strong thread. Thread a needle. Pull
thread through the eye leg. Insert a needle in particular eye attachment points,
pull thread out behind splint fastening along the head bottom. Repeat the same
contraction with the 2nd eye. Pull tail threads, which are used to attach the eyes,
out point 1, tighten them and make knots. Hide tail thread.

12
Pattern “Mouse”. Author: Olya Radost.

Take black thread and a needle to embroider the nose. Insert a needle to the
bottom of the muzzle (between 6 and 7 rows), pull it out the nose area and make
2 stitches. Then wrap thread several times through these 2 stitches (tighten a bit)
– make a form of a nose (see the photo).

13
Pattern “Mouse”. Author: Olya Radost.

When the nose is embroidered, pull thread out the beginning point (in the
bottom of the muzzle). Fix and hide tail thread.

Arms (2 pieces)
Advice. Make 2 pieces at once, as crochet density can differ in different days.
Begin to work from the bottom of the arm. The marker will be exactly along one
side of the arm. Check the marker, it must be exactly aside the arm. If it’s
necessary, make shifting sc.
05 Grey thread color

Insert splint fastening in the place between 14 and 15 rows, in the center of one
side of the arm.

Fill the upper part of arm with fiber a bit.

17 row. 6 dec
Tighten the hole, cut thread and hide tail thread inside. Make the 2nd arm as the
1st one, but insert splint fastening in the other side of the arm

17

10 row. 6 sc along the bottom of the leg and 4 sc along the chain (10)
11 row. 5 dec
Tighten the hole, cut and fix thread and hide tail thread. The foot with open
stitches is ready.

Work the upper part of the leg in 04 light grey thread color in open stitches of the
foot (4 stitches along the front of the foot, skipped in the 9th row and 4 stitches
along the back of the foot, which were casted on along chain in the 9th row).
Place the marker in the beginning of the row – exactly along the center of the foot
back. It’s the 3rd sc of 4 along the back (see photo). Attach thread, 1 ch and work
sc in the same ch. The 1st sc of the 1st row is ready (don’t count it).

19
Pattern “Mouse”. Author: Olya Radost.

1 sc, insert working thread through stitch between 9 and 10 rows of the foot and
the 1st stitch of 4 skipped stitches in the 9th row and work 1 sc (see the scheme
and photo),

2 sc, insert working thread through next stitch and stitch of 9-10 rows – work 1 sc
(see the scheme and photo), 2 sc (8)

between 2 and 3 body rows in the center. Insert splint in the disk inside the body.
Fix the ends of the splint with the pliers.

24
Pattern “Mouse”. Author: Olya Radost.

Mark 2 inc of the 8th row with thread of another color (they are exactly along the
center of the body). It’ll help to attach the arms to the body. Take the arms and
find the best positions to them (in the symmetry). In my case, the points are
between 8 and 9 rows in the distance of about 7 stitches from the central body
line. Take 2 disks 9 mm and the pliers. Insert the arms in the holes at the sides.
Insert splints through disks inside the body and fix with the pliers.

Before legs attachment, it’s necessary to fill the body with fiber. Pin the central
line of the body to find the symmetrical points of legs attachment. Find out the
best arm attachment positions. In my case, attachment will be between 19 and 20
rows in the distance of about 9 stitches from the central line.
Now take fiber away the lower part of the body. Take 2 disks 18 mm and the
pliers. Fix the legs to the body.
