1. Design a database to keep track of Dwayne Hazes's music collection.

As he frequently loans his


friends as CDs. He needs to keep track of who has which CD.

2. A caterer has decided to computerise her business. She needs to keep track of her orders and the
clients she services. Design a database to accomplish this.

3. Tiffs Flight Attendant Services owns a number of vehicles that are used to chauffeur its employees
to and from work. Two flight attendants can share a vehicle, depending on the flight they are
scheduled to work on and the area in which they live. Design a database that would keep track of
the flight attendants, the vehicle pickups and the flight attendants work schedule. Hint: You may
require three tables, one for the flight attendants information, one for the work schedule and one
for the vehicles.

4. Joshua Bane owns a used car business in a small town. Joshua imports vehicles from Japan and
sells them. Joshua has six salespersons working for him to whom he gives a commission based on
the number of sales generated by the individual per month. He wants to keep track of his stock and
his sales, as well as the employee who sold the vehicle. Hint: You can use two or more tables
depending on whether you want to keep track of who bought the vehicles.

5. A Job Placement company is looking to computerise its manual database. Clients usually approach
the company for help in finding jobs, for which a small fee is charged. Information such as skill,
personal information, available work hours, reference and other relevant information on each client
is kept. The organisation receives a list of available job openings from various firms which they keep
on file. These files are updated regularly. As the post may become filled by means other than the Job
Placement Company. A listing of clients and their skills is matched to the available jobs. Once the
client is accepted for a job, an additional sum is paid to the company. You are required to design a
database for the Job Placement Company.

Note:

1. Determine the goal of the database.

2. Analyse your goal to determine your needs, and wants, exactly.

3. Determine the data items you need to store to meet your library's needs and wants.

4. Design your tables.

5. Determine the field names and data types.

6. Determine how the tables will be related.
