1.2.Power on /off of ATC1

Check in the RCOM menu on MCDU that ATC I is OFF

1.3.ATC1 Mode S transponder

On the front panel of the Mode-S No. 1 transponder push the test button, verify the green LED is
illuminated after the test sequence.

Activate the Mode S ramp test set.


40 Simulate aircraft "IN AIR" and select ATC1 as active transponder on RMS RCOM menu page.
Check that the correct M3 code is displayed on the NDs.

1.4.Transmit Power/Receive Sensitivity Test

Follow the specific directions in the ramp test set operator's manual to conduct the transmit
power/receiver sensitivity test. Monitor the Mode S transponders interrogations and rcylv
signals.

Verify that the peak power output from the transponder is between 54 ( ► /- 3) d1tm '
Verify that the MTL of the system is -74 (+/- 3) dBm.

1.5.ATCRBS Reply Test

Interrogate with Modes A and C and verify that replies are received by the ramp test set

1 .6.Transponder Parameter Selection Test

Press and release the IDE1V7' button on the TCAS/Mode S Control. Verify the ident code is
displayed at the ramp test set and that it remains valid for 15 to 25 seconds.

• 1.7.Mode S Address Test

Verb that the Mode S transponder replies to interrogations using Own Mode S Address.
Next veri6, that NO reply is received from the transponder when interrogated with a Mode S.
non All-Call, address that is different from Own Mode S Address.

1.8.Altitude Request Test - Intruder Surveillance

Interrogate with Mode S UF4. Vet t) that the reply has the correct altitude and format.
Select Mode C OFF on the MCDU and verify that the altitude information is no longer being
decoded at the ramp test set. Return to mode C activated.

1.9.Mode S UFS: ID Request Test

• Interrogate Mode S transponder with UF5. Verify that the reply has the correct ID code, correct
address and correct format. Use 2 different ID codes and verify both are correct.
(Use codes 2525 and 5252 if allowable)

1.10. Mode S Squitter Txmt Test

Verifi that Squitter signals are received every I (+/ 0.2) sec. -

Interrogate the system and verify the

1.12. Discretes Verification Test

Reset ground sense system to indicate aircraft "ON GND".


Verify correct discrete configuration setting for own aircraft Maximum Airspeed on the ramp
tester or by checking that the MAX TAS Discrete in the TCAS extended test mode indicate 100.
Check for correct discrete configuration setting for AIR/GND by verifying that no ATCRBS
replies are received while the aircraft is on the ground.

1.13. Pressure Altitude (ADC) Interface Tests

Verify proper interface of the altitude sources and the TCAS system by exercising the aircraft
pitotlstatic systems with an altitude tester (both L and R air data systems may be exercised
simultaneously).
• The reported altitude should be within 125 feet of the expected altitude as compared with the
indicated Captain's or F/O altimeter (Baro set = 1013Hpa).
The observed altimeter readings may be compared to the altitude reported in the replies to the
ramp test set, to a TCAS data recording system. Set both AIR DATA INST. SOURCE SELECT
switches to NORMAL unless otherwise indicated.

Compare altitude every 5000ft till aircraft maximum altitude

1.14. Initiated BIT of ATC

Start the ATC test on MCDU.


Check that during test the « RUNNING » message is displayed on MCDU.

1110 When the test is passed, check that : the labels of the modes are displayed temporarily in
green on MCDU

1.15. ATC control in degraded configuration


Power off the 10P2/10M2 and select 10P1 as master 10P
On RMSI, select a M3 code
Check on RMSI that the M3 code is tuned.

On MCDU1/10P1, select a M3 code


Check on RMSI that the M3 code is tuned.
