Symptoms

After upgrade the Data Movers may enter into rolling panics. The panic header will show:

Assertion failure: 'status->DCStatus.lStatus!=STATUS_SUCCESS' on line 2748 in file '../cifs_passthru.cxx'

assert failed

Also, following the code upgrade, the code version will display as 8.1.21.35266 instead of 8.1.21.266.

Resolution

If Data Movers are in rolling reboot, please load the correct nas.exe for 8.1.21.266 code. Please contact Dell EMC Technical Support or
your Authorized Service Provider and quote this Knowledgebase article ID if you need the correct nas.exe code.

To correct a full install of the bad image, please download the correct DVD image (verify using the checksums above) and do a full install
over top of the bad image. No additional settings are needed; the good installer will successfully install right over the bad image.

To avoid the issue before a VNX is upgraded, please use the correct DVD image (verify using the checksums above). Alternatively, using
CD1 and the tarball works correctly.
