Make creative writing fun and engaging with this interactive flip flap booklet! Designed to reinforce the
students’ knowledge of the story structure for fairy tales through concept based thinking, as well as plan
their own fairy tale, this is an easy to print and go activity. The pages can be mixed and matched to suit the
needs of the children in your class, thus very easy to differentiate. The pages cover setting, characters,
magic, problem, solution and plot. Thus, these can be used for 2nd grade up to 5th grade and phases 2, 3 and
4 of the IB PYP. I have used these booklets as a reflection piece for my IB PYP class to gauge their own
knowledge and learning. They can also be used successfully as assessments ,depending on the needs of your
class. Mix and match the pages!
The pages align with the CCSS writing standards for 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade, CCSS Writing Literacy:
Production & Distribution of Writing narratives. They also include the language of the International
Baccalaureate, therefore aligning nicely with both standards. You will find both British and American spelling
and vocabulary.

These mini writing books can be used for guided writing groups, independent centres activities as well as
small peer group collaboration.

I hope you find this resource useful. This is a part of my complete Fairy Tales IB PYP Unit of Inquiry under the
theme of How We Express Ourselves. You can find many more inquiry based resources in my store and on
my blog, catering for the IB PYP classroom. Take at look at these examples below:
