How it Works:
Carbon dioxide is produced chemically when vinegar and baking soda are combined. The
same kind of gas that gives sodas their carbonation is carbon dioxide. What occurs when a
drink is shaken up? The gas becomes agitated and attempts to expand. The gas rapidly
escapes from the opening of the bottle due to a lack of space for it to spread out, resulting in
an eruption!
Extra Experiments:
1. Does the eruption vary depending on the vinegar amount?
2. Does the eruption alter depending on the water level?
3. Is the eruption affected by the quantity of baking soda added
