Question 1. Define the following terms

a) Fertilisation
The process of fusion of the male and the female gamete to form the
zygote is called fertilisation.

b) Germination
The growth of the baby plant from the seed on getting the right amount of
water and warmth is called germination.

Seeds of guavas and berries have a hard outer covering that protects them
from being digested inside the birds’ stomach, which swallow the seeds while
eating the fruit.
