IX. Rationale of the Project

Tabangao Ambulong is a barangay in Batangas City, in the province of Batangas.
Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 6,038. This represented 1.72% of
the total population of Batangas City. According to the 2015 Census, the age group with
the highest population in Tabangao Ambulong is 5 to 9, with 567 individuals. Conversely,
the age group with the lowest population is 75 to 79, with 38 individuals. Combining age
groups together, those aged 14 and below, consisting of the young dependent population
which include infants/babies, children and young adolescents/teenagers, make up an
aggregate of 29.63% (1,601). Those aged 15 up to 64, roughly, the economically active
population and actual or potential members of the workforce, constitute a total of 66.28%
(3,581). Finally, the old dependent population consisting of the senior citizens, those aged
65 and over, total 4.09% (221) in all.
The project "PAHIYOM" in Tabangao Ambulong, Batangas City, focusing on an
outreach program and hygiene kit distribution, is multifaceted and rooted in addressing
immediate needs while promoting sustainable well-being within the community.
Simultaneously, the distribution of hygiene kits serves to improve sanitation practices,
promoting better health and preventing the spread of diseases within the community. It
aims to support individuals and families, acknowledging their worth and contributing to
their quality of life. Alongside distributing hygiene kits, there's potential for workshops or
sessions emphasizing the importance of proper hygiene practices. This knowledge
transfer equips the community with valuable information, fostering a culture of
health-consciousness and self-care. While addressing immediate needs, the project also
considers long-term effects. By promoting good hygiene practices and providing
nourishment, it lays the groundwork for improved health outcomes and potentially
reduces healthcare costs associated with preventable illnesses. Initiating such programs
fosters strong relationships between the organizers, volunteers, and the community. It
establishes a platform for continued engagement and support, enabling ongoing initiatives
and future collaborative efforts to address emerging needs. Through a holistic approach
that combines both outreach programs and hygiene kit distributions, the project aims to
create a sustainable impact.

X. Objectives
This project proposal aims:
To address the immediate needs of nutrition and enhance their social skills.
● To improve the nutritional intake of participants by providing
well-balanced and wholesome meals. This can contribute to better overall
health, particularly for individuals who may be malnourished or lacking
essential nutrients.
● To focus on the nutritional needs of children to support their growth and
development. Providing nutritious meals can positively impact children's
cognitive development, educational performance, and overall health.
● To give children with limited access to healthy nutrition, encourage good
eating practices, and support their general mental and physical growth.
● To promote volunteers and participants a sense of social responsibility and
community, motivating them to collaborate in order to positively influence
the lives of others.
● To boost outdoor recreation and social interactions in the community.
To address the importance of proper health care
● To reinforce the locals’ general health and well-being by providing
resources for healthcare, wellness assessments, and awareness campaigns
and initiatives.
● To provide participants with comprehensive health education through a
hygiene seminar, emphasizing the importance of proper hygiene practices
for individual and community well-being.
● To distribute hygiene kits containing essential items such as soap,
toothpaste, toothbrushes, alcohol, and other hygiene products to empower
individuals to maintain good personal hygiene.
XI. Description of the Project
The "PAHIYOM" is an extensive community-based initiative designed to meet
the many needs of the kids in our neighborhood. An outreach program containing feeding
programs addresses the immediate nutritional needs of the participants, ensuring that they
have access to balanced and nutritious meals. This is crucial for physical well-being,
especially in communities where individuals may face food insecurity. In line with this,
interactive activities such as games, educational activities, and group interactions

contribute to the overall well-rounded growth of individuals, including children and

adults. The combination of feeding programs and interactive activities promotes
community engagement. It creates a sense of togetherness and shared experiences,
fostering positive relationships among community members and program organizers.
Malnutrition and hunger can hinder cognitive development, affect overall health, and
impede the learning process. By providing nutritious meals, we aim to ensure that
children have the physical sustenance necessary for optimal health and learning.
Moreover, aside from the outreach program this project also includes a hygiene
seminar and kit distribution. It is a community-focused initiative designed to promote
health and well-being by raising awareness about proper hygiene practices and providing
essential hygiene supplies to individuals or communities in need. This program typically
involves collaboration between organizers, volunteers, and local communities to address
hygiene-related issues and improve overall public health. The primary goal of this is to
educate participants on the importance of personal and environmental hygiene, fostering
a healthier living environment and preventing the spread of diseases. The program may
include interactive activities such as demonstrations on proper handwashing techniques,
dental care routines, and discussions on maintaining a clean living environment.

XII. Strategies and methods of implementation

The successful implementation of "PAHIYOM" requires thoughtful planning,
coordination, and execution. With this, it is crucial to conduct a thorough needs
assessment to understand the specific nutritional and hygiene needs of the target
population. This assessment should consider socio-economic factors, existing support
structures, and the educational landscape of the community. In doing this it is necessary
to collaborate with local government agencies, schools, community leaders, parents, and
other relevant stakeholders. Engage them in the planning process to ensure community
buy-in and create a collaborative network that supports the initiative. Also, develop a
resource mobilization strategy to secure funding, donations, and partnerships. By seeking
support from local businesses, philanthropic organizations, and government grants to
sustain the program over the long term. It is also important to obtain a letter of permission
from the barangay officials to inform them of the project and seek their assistance in
identifying suitable locations for the seminar and feeding centers. Ensure that these

location are easily accessible to children and have the necessary facilities for seminars,
interactive games, feeding program and hygiene distributions. Parents can be encouraged
to participate in the initiative by conducting orientation sessions to explain the program's
goals and benefits. They can also be engaged in monitoring the nutritional progress of
their children. This positive reinforcement can contribute to the long-term success of the
initiative. By combining these strategies and methods, the feeding and hygiene program
can be implemented effectively, creating a positive and lasting impact on the well-being
of the children in the community.
