This thesis entitled “Teacher’s Strategy in Teaching Translation to the Junior
High School Students at Ruhul Islam (A Case Study at SMP S Ruhul Islam)”.
Translation has gradually lost importance both as a teaching and as an assessment
tool. This decline was mainly due to a fallacious perceptions of the notion of
translatability on the part of language pedagogy. In other words, these
circumstances were indexical of a relative lack of epistemological traffic among
language learning and translation studies as disciplines in their own right. In this
research, the design applied is descriptive qualitative approach. The data was
analized qualitatively. In this research, to get the data the writer used some
techniques, they were observation and interview. The result of the research are
kinds of strategies are used by teacher in teaching translation to the second year
students of SMP S Ruhul Islam that the teacher make the understanding meaning
of the words, ask the student to watching the English movie and translate the
subtitle, using dictionary to find out the difficult words, give some different
materials to the students and conducting the text based on the students’ level. The
dominant strategy used by them in teaching translation that the teacher use some
strategies in teaching translation these are translate meaning the words, do not
completely depend on translation tools, open the dictionary, adjustment of context
and style of language, prepare the time to the student to have the good translation
and adoption of the original author style.
