In this learning unit it is divided into 4 phases, in the first phase the basic concepts of aeronautics will be studied such as: classifications of
fixed-wing aircraft, their anatomy, control surfaces, standard atmosphere, fundamentals of fluid mechanics and the types of engines in
aeronautics. In the second phase, the aerodynamics of profiles and finite wing will be delved into: origin of aerodynamic loads, aerodynamic
profiles, aerodynamic coefficients, characteristic curves of aerodynamic profiles, subsonic and supersonic profiles, Revision: 3

wing architecture, flow in finite wings, effects on the lift and drag curve and high lift devices. In the third phase, the student will understand flight
mechanics, as well as: external forces on the airplane, characteristics of rectilinear and uniform horizontal flight and the load factor. Finally, in the
fourth phase, the main characteristics of rotary wing aircraft will be studied, as an introduction.

Purpose:

Ensure that the student develops general and specific competencies, to achieve a high capacity in solving engineering problems and at the
same time practicing the values promoted by the UANL, through the application of competencies acquired in various learning units of basic
professional training. , such as: fundamentals of aeronautical engineering, aerodynamics of profiles and wings, flight mechanics and the
characteristics of rotary wing aircraft.

The student will design and build a fixed-wing aircraft, to scale, without a power plant and with a plan view area of 40cm x 40cm, maximum. The
mission of the aircraft, which must be corroborated by an evaluation flight, is to achieve a stable glide path that allows landing without noticeable
physical damage. In addition, a written report must be presented detailing the calculation report, with explanations that justify the design. The
report must justify each of the following points:
• Choice of aerodynamic profile
• Correction for wing shape
• Lift, Resistance and Pitch Coefficients, theoretical
• Flight conditions
• Location of center of gravity
