Origins of Geometry
Geometry emerged from the study of the first mathematicians in history on problems
such as the measurements of a field or an object. In ancient Egypt, an observational
or empirical geometry emerged that came from the observation of objects.

In the 4th century BC Pythagoras demonstrated that the various arbitrary and
disconnected laws of primitive geometry can be deduced by establishing a number
of oxioms or postulates.

Field of study of Geometry

Geometry is the branch of mathematics responsible for
study of bodies and geometric figures in the plane and space. It is
Importance of the
one of the oldest Study
sciences, with of Geometry
which the lengths, areas and volumes
of bodies can be determined.

Furthermore, its study includes points, lines, planes, polyhedra,

polygons, curves, perpendicularity, proportionality, parallelism, among
others.

Basic geometric knowledge is essential to function in daily life: to orient yourself reflectively
in space; to make estimates about shapes and distances; to make assessments and
calculations related to the distribution of objects in space...
Geometry is present in multiple areas of the productive system of our current societies
(industrial production, design, architecture, topography, etc...).

Elements that
Geometry
studies Point:
Geometric figure without dimensions. Describes a position in a
plane or space.

Plane: Object that has two dimensions. It contains infinite 4 points

and lines. Figures included in a plane are considered plane
figures.

Straight: It has no width. It extends indefinitely in one direction and

therefore only has one dimension.

Benefit and influence of

geometry in areas such as:
Sciences, Arts, Humanities, in
everyday life.
Art
• It contains its own vocabulary.
• Encourages you to build and create designs or drawings.
• Examine figures like pyramids.
Humanism (humanities)
• The analysis coincides with the construction process.
• All its objects must and can be constructed from integers and natural numbers.
Daily life
• The body is built by geometric and proportional patterns.
• There are laws that apply in art, architecture, design, science, physics, music,
mathematics, etc.
Sciences
• In practice, it helps in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
• You can use tools like visualization of geometric mandalas.
