PowerPoint is the most used tool worldwide for making slide presentations, combining images,
text, music or animations.

 They allow us to communicate information and ideas in an organized and attractive

way.
 They constitute essential support for oral presentations, both by teachers and
students.

our explanations.
 They attract the attention of our audience and increase their motivation.

Didactic uses of
presentations
 Present to classmates a work done in the classroom.
 Compile the work done throughout the school year.
 Introduce a topic.
 Explain an activity with text and illustrations.
 Create stories with illustrations.
 Create a tutorial about a tool.
 Take an interactive quiz.
 Create a travel diary, with text, photographs and videos, of an excursion taken during
the course.

DIFFERENT
FORMATS

BLANK SLIDE

Add new slide

We press Insert > Text box, move the pointer to the slide and, without releasing,
draw a box with the desired dimensions, We can vary by moving the extreme
selection points with the mouse.

To configure the text (size, color and typography), we previously select it and, in the
ribbon or in the pop-up window that appears, we select the appropriate commands:
font, size, color, bold, italic...
Insert multimedia materials
In addition to text, we can include multimedia materials in the Insert tab, choosing
the desired option:

Images from our team or from the Web

 Screenshots
 Shapes
 Graphics
 Videos
 Sounds
 Recordings of our computer screen

Insert image
To add an image we proceed as follows:
 We click on Insert , locate the image in one of the
folders on our computer, double click or Open button,
and place it in the desired location.
 Selecting the image and clicking the right mouse
button activates the contextual menu that will allow
us to modify its position, size, format, and style.

Insert video

PowerPoint 2016 allows us to insert a video in two

different ways:
 From our team: it will be inserted in the presentation.
 From YouTube or another website: the video will be
displayed in the presentation only if we have an
Internet connection on the computer on which it is
played.
Insert sound
We can add background music to our presentation by inserting audio, sound effects or
voice recordings.

We click on Insert > Audio , and choose between “Audio on my PC” (I select the sound
file on my computer) or “Record audio” (I directly record sound in the presentation).
Insert notes
We can also add notes to the slides (the so-called “speaker notes”) that will support
us in our presentation.

We click on the Notes icon in the bottom bar of the screen and write the text we
want.

To view them we activate the Notes Page view.

Transitions

PowerPoint 2106 presents us with different ways to turn the slides:

 Manually, by clicking with the mouse.

 Automatically: click on the Transitions tab > After ,
and set the value in seconds (for example: 00:06.00
indicates 6 seconds). To make it extendable to all
slides, we click Apply to all. We can also set a
different duration time on an isolated slide
 Adding transitions to different slides can add appeal to a presentation, but
You can also incorporate unnecessary noise that distracts from your
content.

 It is not advisable if we are going to share our presentation on the Internet.

The only recommended one would be "Fade

Keep
In the file menu we choose "Save as".

It will be saved in the format: PPTX ., which can only be opened with PowerPoint
versions 2007/2016.

To be compatible with all versions we use "PowerPoint Presentation 97-2003 (*. ppt)" .

Another option is to save it using the format: PPSX or PPS, which when executed
immediately begins playback. For that, in Type we select the option: "Presentation with
PowerPoint slides (*.ppsx)" .

Save as video
To make our presentation reach more people, we can turn it into a video and upload it
to YouTube:

 After using the "Save As" option, in Type we select the

option: "Windows Media Video (*. wmv)".
 We wait for the file to finish creating, and we upload
the video to our YouTube account.
