About the Course

Organizations as different as Amazon, Cemex or Costco use data analysis for better decision making that allows them to identify their most
profitable customers, retain and hire talent or optimize their supply chains. The truth is that organizations now compete by making decisions based
on the exploitation of data and the use of statistical methods. However, the way this data is obtained, manipulated and used can define the failure
or success of these organizations.

The first step before turning this data into information that adds value to the organization is to collect and clean this data. In this course you will be
able to recognize and collect the types of data available in a structured and unstructured way in today's business world, as well as prepare, apply
and clean this data for subsequent exploitation. Additionally, you will be able to perform a data exploration that allows you to prepare a preliminary
analysis of the business process under study.

Upon completion of this course you will have developed the ability to understand and effectively apply the methodologies and techniques related to
data collection, using state-of-the-art software, such as Watson Analytics.

About the Course

Frequently, in your professional activity you are faced with the need to analyze a large amount of data in order to identify if there is any
relationship between them and thus have valuable information that allows you to make a decision.

The data with which the information is generated, in addition to requiring appropriate treatment, also demands an adequate technique for its
analysis.

In this course you will be able to learn and use different techniques based on statistical analysis with a focus on business intelligence, which will
allow you to create models to improve the understanding of how data relates to the underlying population. Validate the model and use predictive
analysis to evaluate feasible scenarios to guide your future decisions.

Upon completion of this course you will have developed the ability to use different techniques for the construction and evaluation of models that,
based on pre-established performance criteria, will allow you to take advantage of the value of the data.

Are the assumptions about my data valid?

In various professional problems related to the analysis of a large number of data, you have surely found yourself in the dilemma of accepting or
rejecting a proposal and you would surely like to have more information to make the right decision; The way to achieve this is to formulate the
problem through a hypothesis test. How do you know if a statistical hypothesis is correctly stated? Is the truth or falsity of a particular hypothesis
known with certainty without having to analyze the entire population? Upon completion of this module you will be able to develop a hypothesis
testing procedure taking into account the type of information contained in the random sample of the population of interest and avoid the possibility
of reaching the wrong conclusion.

Queue theory
The "^las" are a typical aspect of modern life that we continually encounter in our daily activities, in a bank, in a shopping center, when boarding a
plane, in a call center, etc. This phenomenon originates when we have the need to share one or more resources, which are used to provide care
to a large number of workers. Organizations frequently must make decisions regarding the service capacity they should offer. However, it is often
impossible to predict exactly when the clients who demand the service will arrive and/or how much time will be necessary to provide that service;
That is why these decisions involve dilemmas that must be resolved with little information. The waiting line models do not directly solve the
problem, but they generate information that is needed to make appropriate decisions by predicting some characteristics of the waiting line: Upon
completion of this module you will be able to understand how a waiting line system is structured. and analyze the cost that it implies for
organizations to operate with idle resources when the information on the number of clients who demand a service and its duration is not

Tool selection and implementation

What tools to use for a particular problem? As you may have noticed in the previous modules, this case – just as it happens in real life – has no
single solution or answer, as it can be analyzed and resolved in various ways. For this reason, it is necessary to carry out additional reflections
and establish certain assumptions to resolve it. To achieve this, in this module we will review three techniques that will help you in this: Creation of
Calculations and Hierarchies, Visualization Elements and Local and Global Filtering. Within this module you must prepare and send your
preliminary analysis, so that -based on it- you have feedback from your colleagues that allows you to identify strengths and opportunities for
improvement, from which you can reinforce and satisfactorily conclude your Proposed Solution. It is essential that you review the instructions and
evaluation rubric available in this module, which detail the points that will be evaluated in this delivery. Demonstrate that you are capable of
carrying out a preliminary analysis and diagnosis of great interest and usefulness for the organization!

Solution Development
How to develop a useful, valuable and relevant solution for the organization? One of the most powerful elements of Data Science is the ability to
make predictions. This is a very helpful tool in decision making for any business or organization. In this module you must integrate the predictive
capacity of the computational tool used into your proposal, associating fields and interpreting the results related to the industry in which you are
proposing the resolution of the challenge. Based on the feedback obtained at the close of the previous module, as well as the extra techniques
seen in this module and the previous one, you must integrate your ideas, analysis and applications to develop the solution to the challenge.

Solution Approach
How to integrate a final proposal that is relevant and attractive to the organization's managers? Once you have explored the data, selected tools
and developed your analysis and preliminary proposal for a solution to the challenge, it is time to prepare your final document. To achieve this, in
this module we will review a technique focused on the Creation of Dashboards, which will help you precisely to integrate and present your results
in a very professional and executive manner. Remember that the most important thing is the content and value of your proposal, but it is also
important that you integrate it and present it in a clear, orderly and structured manner. This will help you capture the attention of the managers to
whom you present this type of documents. Prepare and send your final analysis and proposal, in accordance with the points and information
described in the evaluation rubric available in this module. Don't forget to be very analytical, organized and structured, but also creative and
innovative. Don't just think about “fulfilling what is requested of you”, think about going beyond that and generating a unique, valuable analysis and
document of great interest to the organization. Are you ready to prepare a final proposal capable of positively differentiating yourself, showing your
great capabilities and learnings as a data analyst? Much encouragement!
