COURSE 1
Subtitle Spanish
In the initial part of this course you will learn about the importance and role that data analysis (Analytics) plays in today's world, to support decision
making in our daily lives, our work and our organization. You will learn not only about the enormous growth that this area has had in recent years,
but also about the great potential and opportunities it presents in the immediate future. You will learn about and analyze various success stories both
worldwide and in Spanish-speaking countries.
Likewise, you will have developed the ability to use different methods that will support you in your data analysis and decision-making process, also
using computational tools to explore databases, make predictions and create infographics associated with the problem or decision of your interest. .
Additionally, you will identify key elements for mathematical modeling, which will be very useful to identify the best course of action that you should
follow.
Finally, this course will allow you to know and use different criteria under which you can make decisions, based on the analysis of data and key
information associated with it. These criteria include fundamental aspects such as opportunity costs, uncertainty scenarios, as well as different
objectives or goals to select, so that you can effectively choose the best decision to make.

The first step before turning this data into information that adds value to the organization is to collect and clean this data. In this course you will be
able to recognize and collect the types of data available in a structured and unstructured way in today's business world, as well as prepare, apply
and clean this data for subsequent exploitation. Additionally, you will be able to perform a data exploration that allows you to prepare a preliminary
analysis of the business process under study.
Upon completion of this course you will have developed the ability to understand and effectively apply the methodologies and techniques related to
data collection, using state-of-the-art software, such as Watson Analytics.

Regression models
In this module you will learn about the application of one of the most popular models for decision making since it allows you to estimate the
average value of a dependent variable taking into account one or more explanatory variables or make inferences about a phenomenon that you
do not know about. even its result. Regression models can be adapted to a host of executive applications. Nowadays it is much easier to analyze
a large volume of data thanks to the fact that many statistical packages have developed user-friendly interfaces that avoid performing
mathematical calculations and thus allow the user to focus their interest on the analysis. Finally, this module will help you identify basic elements
that make up a regression model but above all, it will allow you to use the value of the data for adequate decision making within your organization.

Queue theory
The "^las" are a typical aspect of modern life that we continually encounter in our daily activities, in a bank, in a shopping center, when boarding a
plane, in a call center, etc. This phenomenon originates when we have the need to share one or more resources, which are used to provide care
to a large number of workers. Organizations frequently must make decisions regarding the service capacity they should offer. However, it is often
impossible to predict exactly when the clients who demand the service will arrive and/or how much time will be necessary to provide that service;
That is why these decisions involve dilemmas that must be resolved with little information. The waiting line models do not directly solve the
problem, but they generate information that is needed to make appropriate decisions by predicting some characteristics of the waiting line: Upon
completion of this module you will be able to understand how a waiting line system is structured. and analyze the cost that it implies for
organizations to operate with idle resources when the information on the number of clients who demand a service and its duration is not
adequately analyzed.

WEEK 1
Introduction
Welcome to this last part of the course! The group of teachers – together with IBM de México – have designed a representative case in which you
will be able to apply the knowledge, concepts, tools and methodologies that you have acquired throughout this specialty program. The case
includes a set of databases that you will use to solve the challenges of the organization described in it, and that you will be able to analyze using
the computer software Watson Analytics, from IBM. Are you ready to face this final challenge? Start with your activities to delve into this case and
demonstrate the capabilities you have acquired for data analysis and decision making!

Data Exploration
Implement and take advantage of Data Exploration! In this module you will put into practice the skills and abilities that you have acquired for Data
Collection and Exploration. As you will remember, an analysis is only as good as the care with which you carry out this initial stage. In this module
you must apply this knowledge, concepts, tools and methodologies to the analysis of data to solve and improve the challenge that has been
presented to you. Additionally, you will find information that will represent additional knowledge that you can take into account to solve this
challenge. Forward!
WEEK 3
WEEK 4
Solution Development
How to develop a useful, valuable and relevant solution for the organization? One of the most powerful elements of Data Science is the ability to
make predictions. This is a very helpful tool in decision making for any business or organization. In this module you must integrate the predictive
capacity of the computational tool used into your proposal, associating fields and interpreting the results related to the industry in which you are
proposing the resolution of the challenge. Based on the feedback obtained at the close of the previous module, as well as the extra techniques
seen in this module and the previous one, you must integrate your ideas, analysis and applications to develop the solution to the challenge.

Solution Approach
How to integrate a final proposal that is relevant and attractive to the organization's managers? Once you have explored the data, selected tools
and developed your analysis and preliminary proposal for a solution to the challenge, it is time to prepare your final document. To achieve this, in
this module we will review a technique focused on the Creation of Dashboards, which will help you precisely to integrate and present your results
in a very professional and executive manner. Remember that the most important thing is the content and value of your proposal, but it is also
important that you integrate it and present it in a clear, orderly and structured manner. This will help you capture the attention of the managers to
whom you present this type of documents. Prepare and send your final analysis and proposal, in accordance with the points and information
described in the evaluation rubric available in this module. Don't forget to be very analytical, organized and structured, but also creative and
innovative. Don't just think about “fulfilling what is requested of you”, think about going beyond that and generating a unique, valuable analysis and
document of great interest to the organization. Are you ready to prepare a final proposal capable of positively differentiating yourself, showing your
great capabilities and learnings as a data analyst? Much encouragement!
