MANUAL TECHNIQUES: BODY
Introduction:
Aesthetic body massage is the main instrument of the Manual Body Techniques professional for
carrying out the majority of body treatment protocols.
Yo
Goals:
Massage is both an art and a science, in terms of art it has a technical part, alive and therefore
constantly changing and adapting. Its benefits have survived to this day, evolving from the
simplest techniques to provide relaxation and promote sleep, to the specific development of
some more complex ones to relieve or eliminate specific ailments of the body or organism.
Relaxing massage:
Yo Massage effect:
Yo We will have immediate and delayed.
Yo Immediate effects:
Body temperature can increase by 2 or 3 ºC, producing local hyperemia that benefits the skin's
nutrition process. It produces the removal of dead cells from the stratum corneum, fatty
substances and other waste, due to a mechanical effect. Activates the movement of lymphatic
blood circulation by the mechanical drag effect.
At the level of lymphatic circulation, its draining effect increases, thus reducing edema.
Modifies the state of contraction or tone of the muscles. Slow, rhythmic maneuvers over large
surfaces produce muscle relaxation. Quick and localized maneuvers tone you.
v Delayed effects:
It gives the skin greater flexibility and a softer texture. Peripheral vasodilation produces
hyperemia in the skin and muscles. Although massage does not definitively eliminate fatty
deposits, it does help reduce them in very localized areas.
Aesthetic indications:
V Improves the general condition of the body.
V Induces a state of relaxation in situations of stress or nervous tension.
V Activates blood and lymphatic circulation.
V As a preventive and palliative treatment for skin aging.
V As a complementary treatment for localized adiposity and cellulite.
V As complementary palliative treatments for stretch marks and scars.
V Improves the tone of skin and muscle tissue in cases of sagging.
Contraindications:
V Absolute:
V Acute inflammations.
V General infections and febrile states.
V Infectious skin diseases.
V Burns.
V Circulatory disorders: phlebitis, lymphangitis, thrombosis, embolisms, arterial embolisms
and arteriosclerosis.
V Decompensated heart disease.
V Hemorrhagic, tumor and cancerous diseases.
V Trauma with open wound, fractures and fissures.
■ Relative:
V Loss of sensitivity in the area.
V Skin disorders: eczema, psoriasis, warts, etc.
V Allergy and skin hypersensitivity.
V Hypertension and tachycardia.
V Pregnancies. The extremities and spine can be treated.
V In the abdominal areas during menstruation.
V Digestive periods.
V Liver failure.
V Rheumatic diseases.
PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE
The technician who practices massage must have specific training in different subjects, such as:
You must also acquire or possess some important qualities and skills for the development of
professional practice:
Ergonomi
cs:
The therapist's position will be as comfortable as possible to avoid muscle overload; Feet apart,
back straight and knees slightly bent. In general, you must face the client's head when the
movements are carried out in the longitudinal direction of the body; and to its side when the
movements are transversal.
Massage cosmetics:
Creams or oils, which should never be poured directly but into the professional's hands.
Interview/exploration:
A file will be made for the user, where the different sections are included:
General data
Medical data of aesthetic interest.
Life habits
Data that is related to aesthetic treatments (cosmetics used, aesthetic treatments performed)
Direct observation or with diagnostic equipment. Touch and palpation Pressure and palpitations
Pinching.
The client's form and examination are usually completed on the first day, in
1. order to establish the diagnosis later.
2.
3. User Installation
4.
It is important to properly install the user to obtain the best massage results.
For a start:
All you need to start practicing massage is attention, a little time and energy and
above all sensitivity. To prepare for the therapy that concerns us, which is back
massage, certain general guidelines are necessary.
Do not forget about the needs of the person who is going to receive the massage
because cold and discomfort are vital for our final objective. To give a massage we
must move with complete freedom, so we will wear loose and comfortable
clothing. Without losing continuity, you must relax when you change positions
during the session, otherwise your tension will be transmitted to the other person.
Your body must be balanced whether you perform the massage standing, sitting or
kneeling as your comfort depends on the posture you adopt. Your movements must
be made from the trunk and pelvis, using the entire body to apply pressure, not just
the hands or shoulders. You will avoid getting tired or feeling tense if you can
breathe freely and let your body move naturally. Before each session it is
necessary to talk with the couple about what they are going to do and find out
where the pain is located. It is advisable to avoid superficial talks as they will only
dissipate concentration. Do not start a massage if you are worried, unwell or in a
bad mood, as this will deplete your energy and your condition would have an
impact on the other person. You must find the type of pressure that each part of the
body needs and distinguish between pain and discomfort.
It is the first and last maneuver of the entire massage. With the tips of all the
fingers and very gently, the hand slides over the area that we are going to massage,
alternating hands very slowly. It has the effect of stimulating cutaneous nerve
receptors and producing muscle relaxation in the area.
Venous
emptying:
It consists of passing the palm of the hand and fingers over the area to be treated,
achieving a decrease in the blood content of the veins and promoting return
circulation. The speed of this maneuver must be slow and at medium depth.
Kneading:
Use your whole hand. Grab and squeeze a small area, releasing the
meat with one hand as the other begins to grip more. Do not spread
your hands too far from your body and gradually move from one
hand to the other, as if you were kneading dough.
Digital:
Sink the pads of your thumbs into the flesh with short, deep pressures, or making small circles,
depending on where you are doing the massage. Press with one thumb after the other
successively, each time with a little more force, until you cover a wide area.
Palmar digit:
With the palm of the hand and the thumb especially. Everything adheres well to the muscles and
without raising our hand, we go up and down the treated area, squeeze and let go of the muscles.
Advancing with the thumb and dragging the muscles towards the palm of the hand, the hands
work alternately.
Knuckle:
Manipulation carried out with the thumb and the knuckles of the four flexed fingers (each
knuckle makes a small circle). It is a kneading process that works deeply and its purpose is to
relax the muscles and help eliminate adipose tissue. It is done on the extremities, back, basically.
It has the variant of being performed with the flexed thumb and index finger with which a
specific muscle region is pinched; this is done in the spine and in small areas.
Percussions:
Percussion is a more stimulating than relaxing movement that consists of different types of
rhythmic and energetic pressures, performed repeatedly. Strikes can be performed with the edge
of the hand, with the cupped hand, and with a closed fist. The objective of percussion is to
stimulate soft tissue areas, such as the muscles of the thighs and buttocks, toning the skin and
promoting circulation .
Tap gently with the edges of your hands, alternating one palm in front of the other, quite
quickly and with your fingers somewhat loose.
Cup your hands, arching them at the knuckles, but with your fingers straight.
It is struck with the flat palm of the hand. Giving small touches to the area to be treated.
Pinch:
We will find different types of pinching, but they must all be soft and when doing them we almost do not
have to separate the tips of our fingers. In all the purposes is to produce hyperemia in the area (increased
blood circulation at a superficial level), they are performed with the thumb and the middle finger.
Frictions:
It consists of passing the open hand, with the fingers together and semi-rotated, over the surface to be
worked with with a certain amount of pressure and energy, to produce heat in the area and release dead
skin cells. Depending on the area we will perform frictions in different directions.
With these frictions you begin to work more deeply on the large masses of muscles, kneading, stretching
and twisting the meat. The objective of these frictions is to relax the muscles, eliminating residual
materials and promoting blood and lymphatic circulation. To do this, alternate hands and knead, stretch
and twist the meat. To knead, squeeze and release the meat in a wide, circular motion. To stretch, do it on
the sides. For twisting, the hands are approached from opposite sides, so that the flesh is first compressed
upwards and then stretched.
V The Stretch
Place one hand on the side of the receiver so that you touch the table or floor with your fingertips
and keep your other hand close. Stretch upwards, alternating hands and bringing each one to
where the other was.
Walk the entire side like this, always with rhythmic movements.
V The Twist
Place your left hand on the near side and your right hand on the other side, and then push forward
with your left hand and back with your right (Figure A). Without stopping, change direction and
return to the opposite side (Figure B). The movement must be slow and without interrupting the
continuity of the friction at any time.
Sliding frictions:
These frictions should be done gently and rhythmically sliding the hands over the skin, like waves
arriving at the seashore. They are used on any part of the body to begin and end the massage, and also as a
transition massage in order to cushion the change from one movement to another. These frictions do not
act on the depth of the muscle masses.
Typing: These are performed with the tips of the fingers slightly curved and fast.
One finger will follow the other. It is a maneuver widely used in facial treatments, especially around the
eyes, cheekbones and forehead.
Vibration: It is a tremor of the hands, fingertips or mortgage areas of the masseuse on a certain point on
the client's body. It is advisable to do tension at the level of the biceps. It acts on the nervous system.
Pressure: Press with your fingertips on different points in the area to be treated. It causes greater blood
flow to the muscle fibers and is also relaxing.

EXTENDED LEG
In people with circulatory problems, we will not perform twisting movements, pinching, knuckle pulling,
or any other movement that could cause complications in the area.
On the contrary, we will perform many emptyings, to continually renew blood flow and help the blood
reach its destination.
When we finish the treatment, we will recommend our user to remain seated for a couple of minutes, and
then get up little by little (first sit down and then get up). Because if you did it suddenly you could get
dizzy.
If we use an excessively greasy product, we will remove the excess product once the treatment is finished.
The client's body should not be completely uncovered (as it could get cold), but we will use a large towel
or sheet to unprotect the areas that interest us.
When performing a body massage, it is essential that the environment is ideal, try not to make
conversation with our client since the result will not be the same.
Before starting a body massage and at the end of it, we will wash our hands with soap and water.
It is advisable to do hand gymnastics before starting the massage, since our fingers will be much more
flexible.
