U: not defined
Second digit expresses the organization responsible for defining the digit.
0: SAE code common to all brands
1: the vehicle manufacturer
Third digit specifies a specific function of the car.
0: complete electronic
system
1 and 2: air and fuel control
3: ignition system
4: auxiliary emission control
5: speed and idle control
6: ECU and inputs and
outputs
7: transmission
Fourth and fifth digits are specifically related to the vehicle failure.
5
FINAL COURSE WORK
The system is by a spring that is placed in the upper part of the flowmeter. The spring
pressure on the diaphragm determines the static pressure of the system . System
static pressure is the amount of pressure measured with the pressure hose
disconnected or with the engine stopped
The IAC system uses the PCM to control the Idle Air Control Valve (IAC Valve), which regulates the
volume of air that is diverted around the closed throttle body kite. The PCM controls the IAC Valve by
applying various electrical input signals against the control program that governs the IAC valve and is
installed in the PCM memory.

7. What are the electronic components that can have the ECM?
8. What are the sensors and actuators that the vehicle comes with? Make a list
Position sensors: Used to accurately determine the physical position and/or speed
of the object to which it is attached at a given moment.
RPM Sensors: The engine revolutions sensor is a fundamental element for the
proper functioning of the engine. Detects the revolutions at which the engine camshaft
and crankshaft rotate, and sends the information to the sensor control unit for
processing
7
FINAL COURSE WORK
Accelerometers: Accelerometers are especially important for passive safety. As the car
accelerates, the seat belt tensioners and airbags prepare for an emergency. The entire chassis
control system adapts to this demanding driving mode.
Pressure Sensors: Pressure is defined as the force exerted by a liquid or gas on a surface.
It is normally measured in units of force per unit area. The units commonly used are the pascal
(Pa), the bar (bar), the N/mm2 or the psi (pounds per square inch).
8
FINAL COURSE WORK
We are already entering with more practices, greater depth in diagnosis and repair; with
the use of the ECU test bench, the activation of the ECU emulating sensors and actuators
(injectors), simulations of the ECU test bench and the automotive scanner; advanced
component analysis, as well as procedures for successful Automotive Computer repair.
You are given the guidelines and diagrams to make your own ecu test bench.
Topic 1: Procedure for mounting the ECM or ECU on the test bench
Topic 2: Diagnosis and Repair of the Source and Driver circuits in the ECUs
Topic 3: Activation of the ECM or ECU (Emulate sensors)
Topic 4: Activation of the ECM or ECU (Emulate actuators)
Topic 5: Diagnosis with the Automotive Scanner by attaching an external DLC.
Topic 6: Procedures for the diagnosis and successful repair of an Automotive
computer.
Topic 7: Switched sources

SAFETY / ENVIRONMENT / RULES
OPERATIONS / STEPS / SUBSTEPS -STANDARDS
1.DIAGNOSTIC TEST:
1.1- It starts, but it takes a while to start and the -Be careful with the driving test
engine can even turn off suddenly while still running. to avoid possible accidents.
1.2- Excessive fuel consumption - If the vehicle is impossible to
1.3 -Acceleration not constant and even when move due to the problem, discard
pressing the pedal the car does not advance properly this test.
.
2.PROBLEM REPAIR:
2.1- verify components.
2.2- All necessary repairs must first be carried out on the
car's diagnostic chart, since repairing the ECU can be
expensive.
2.3- In addition, this type of failure occurs when the ECU
does not send a signal to the essential sensors to start the
engine. For example, if an ECU does not send the reference
voltage to the sensor , or does not receive the CKP signal,
it must be intervened for repair.
3.TEST DRIVE:
3.1- After having repaired the problem we have to be 100% sure that it
is solved, for this we carry out a test drive. Of course with the company
of the diagnostic team.
