Risk Assessment Tables

This document presents 6 tables that describe the risk assessment process. Table 1 determines the impairment level, Table 2 determines the exposure level, and Table 3 determines the probability level. Table 4 determines the level of consequences. Table 5 sets out how to calculate the risk level by combining probability and consequences. Finally, Table 6 describes the meaning of each risk level and its acceptability.

RISK ASSESSMENT TABLES

Table 1: Deficiency Level Determination

Deficiency Level ND value Meaning

Hazard(s) have been detected that determine(s) the

generation of very significant incidents or consequences
Very High (MA) 10 as possible, or the effectiveness of the set of existing
preventive measures with respect to the risk is null or
does not exist, or both.

Some hazard(s) have been detected that may give rise

High (A) 6 to significant consequences, or the effectiveness of the
existing set of preventive measures is low, or both.

Hazards have been detected that may lead to

insignificant or minor consequences, or the effectiveness
Medium (M) 2
of the existing set of preventive measures is moderate,
or both.

No consequence has been detected, or the effectiveness

of the set of existing preventive measures is high, or
No Value
Low (B) both. The risk is controlled.
Assigned
These hazards are classified directly into intervention
risk level four (IV).
Table 2: Determination of the exposure level
Exposure level NE value Meaning
The exposure situation occurs without interruption or
Continuous (EC) 4 several times over a long period of time during the work
day.

The exposure situation occurs several times during the

Frequent (EF) 3
work day for short periods of time.

The exposure situation occurs sometime during the work

Occasional (EO) 2
day and for a short period of time

Sporadic (EE) 1 The exposure situation occurs occasionally

Probability level NP value Meaning

Poor situation with continuous

exposure, or very poor with
Between
Very High (MA) frequent exposure. Normally the
40 and 24
materialization of the risk occurs
frequently.

Poor situation with frequent or

occasional exposure, or very
poor situation with occasional or
Between
High (A) sporadic exposure. The
20 and 10
materialization of the risk may
occur several times in one's
working life.
Poor situation with sporadic
exposure, or situation that can be
Between 8
Medium (M) improved with frequent continued

exposure. Damage may happen
sometime.
Situation that can be improved
with occasional or sporadic
exposure, or situation without
Between 4 notable anomaly with any level of
Low (B)
and 2 exposure. It is not
expected that the risk will
materialize, although it may be
conceivable.
TABLE 4 LEVEL OF CONSEQUENCE

Meaning
Level of Consequences NC
Personal Injury

Deadly or catastrophic (M) 100 Deaths)

Serious irreparable injuries or
Very serious (MG) 60 illnesses (permanent, partial
disability or disability).
Injuries or illnesses with temporary
Serious (G) 25
work disability (ILT).
Injuries or illnesses that do not
Mild (L) 10
require disability.
Note: To evaluate the level of consequences, take into account the most serious
consequence that may occur in the assessed activity.
