"What is this, Taehyung?

"
―A divorce letter. I'm sorry, Jungkook, but I don't love you anymore.

Foreword.

For people who haven't read this story before, I put warnings in advance:
Attachment is not a story focused on what it is to keep your pride high,
in a fight of egos and "you hurt me and that's why I don't forgive you."

Attachment is a story based on personal thoughts and experiences of the

original author. She tried to open a part of herself that she doesn't usually show
in front of anyone and expressed emotions that he usually stifles, so he loves
this
history with enormous suspicion.

So, warnings throughout the story: VKook/KookV as a couple

main, drama and a bit of angst, big words and conflicts
emotional.
The story does not contain lemon, therefore, it is not defined if it is VKook or
KookV, it is
Leave your imagination free.
FOREWORD.

—What is this, Taehyung?

In front of him, her husband, to whom she had been married for five years, simply
sighed wearily, without moving away from the envelope that was held out to him
on the table.

Jungkook looked at him, confused, without taking the envelope. Had Taehyung
beaten him to it?

The adoption issue was supposed to be a surprise!

“Jungkook, just read it,” Taehyung said in a soft voice.

He frowned slightly, somewhat disappointed that Taehyung had called him by his
name and not by the sweet nicknames he sometimes called him and hadn't used
in months. Jungkook knew that things weren't right, he wasn't an idiot, they had
been fighting for at least six months over something stupid, plus they hadn't made
love for two, and that was scaring him too much.
Because, no matter how much he fought with Taehyung, Jungkook still loved
him, just as he knew Taehyung loved him. Some fights were normal in a
relationship, right?

Although of course, fighting every day even because there was no toilet paper in
the bathroom was not normal.

His hands stung as he held the envelope.

Added to the issue of the fights and the fact that they had not touched each other
in a carnal way, there was the coldness, the emptiness, the indifference. Since
Taehyung worked in a construction company and Jungkook was a pediatrician,
they barely had time to see each other or go out together, to have some alone
time.

When was the last time you went out to dinner?

I didn't remember it well.

But it was good! It was time to solve it, and after thinking so much about it,
Jungkook had a wonderful idea!

It had occurred to him while he was playing with Namjoon's daughter, Sohyun,
and the little girl had told him that he should give him a little cousin to play with.
Then she had remembered her college days, when she was dating Taehyung,
and they had both said that once they were married, the time would come to
adopt a child who would brighten their lives.
Over the years, that promise had been forgotten, however, Jungkook wanted to
fulfill it now. A child could bring them closer again!

And, apparently, Taehyung had beaten him to it.

He also had the adoption papers that the social worker had given him so they
could read and learn about the process!

Calmly, he took out what was inside the envelope.

He wrinkled his lips when he realized it was just a piece of paper.

His lips trembled as he read the first sentence, so he looked up.

—What is this, Taehyung? —he repeated with a broken voice.

The eyes of Taehyung, her husband of five years, her boyfriend of three years,
the only man she had ever loved with such depth, were cold, icy, indifferent .

—A divorce letter. I'm sorry, Jungkook, but I don't love you anymore.

Jimin had always been a good friend to Jeon Jungkook, and when he had arrived
home, crying, he did not hesitate to make him come in, serving him a glass of
water to calm him down so he could listen to him. Being able to hear all the
meaningless babbling he was letting out.

Namjoon had entered minutes later with little Sohyun in his arms, however, upon
seeing Jungkook crying uncontrollably, he made a surprised gesture and then
took the girl away as quickly as he could.

However, Jungkook managed to hear the girl's innocent words:

—Why is Uncle Nochu crying?

His heart broke a little more.

Jimin didn't pressure him to speak, waiting silently for him to calm down, for him
to be calm enough to be able to say something, which came seconds later, with
Namjoon entering the dining room. His clumsy friend sat next to Jimin, holding his
boyfriend's hand, and that sight made him feel pathetic and miserable.

—Taehyung asked me for a divorce.

His best friend opened his eyes in surprise as Namjoon cursed, dazed.

Of course, no one expected it. Who would have thought that Taehyung would ask
him that when he had been the one who had always taken the first steps for
everything?

When they met, it was Taehyung who had saved him from being teased in high
school because of how skittish and clumsy Jungkook was on the first day of
school.

It was Taehyung who had asked her out and who gave her a kiss.

It was Taehyung who told him that they should move in together.

It was Taehyung who asked her to marry him.

And now it seemed to be Taehyung who wanted to end everything.

And, even though it seemed like it was Taehyung who had to make those
decisions, it wasn't as if Jungkook had never done his part: Jungkook was, as
everyone saw, the person who could make Taehyung a loving smile with a action
as stupid as a kiss
surprising, and the only person who made him lower his defenses completely,
making him behave in a childish, and even capricious, way.

For everyone, there was no Taehyung without Jungkook, and there was no
Jungkook without Taehyung, because they made one of the most beautiful and
honest couples you could see.

But, apparently, things were not as happy as they appeared to the rest.

-Because? —Jimin asked quietly.

Jungkook's lips trembled.

"He says he doesn't love me." His tone broke and the tears came again. He
doesn't love me anymore, Mochi. Taehyung doesn't love me anymore.

Jungkook wanted to deny him, to see the inevitable, but he wasn't stupid, much
less a teenager in love: if Taehyung said it, it was true.
Because Taehyung would never lie to him about something as important as that,
Jungkook knew that.
Taehyung had always been brutally honest with his feelings, so much so that
sometimes he didn't realize that his words hurt him very, very much.

He drank a little more water.

“He's in love with someone else,” he sputtered before bursting into tears again,
and Jimin's arms immediately wrapped around him. Love someone else. I lost it,
Mochi, I lost it...

His heart had not felt as broken as it did at that moment: knowing that the person
he loved, with whom he shared so many years of his life, no longer loved him as
before, had left him aside, given himself to someone else, was like a stake driving
not only into his heart, but also into his entire body, making everything hurt and
shake.

Making everything look a horrible black color, unable to see a little light in the
midst of so much darkness.

Taehyung sighed, reading a report that his secretary left him that afternoon, then
took it down and left it on the table, tired.
He remembered Jungkook's tear-filled eyes, his lip trembling, his cheeks wet
from crying, and he felt guilty and sad for what he had caused, but not sorry. I
had to do it.

How could he stay married to someone he didn't love?

It wasn't fair to Jungkook or him, so he couldn't keep up this charade.

She didn't love Jungkook anymore, it was a clear fact, but she still appreciated
him enough not to continue hurting him with her actions.

There was a knock on his office door and he muttered a pass loud enough for the
person to enter.

Seeing him, he smiled relaxedly.

"You look horrible," the red-haired one said with a sweet smile, carrying a pile of
folders.
He let out a snort, leaning back in the chair, and soon his lover approached,
beginning to gently massage his shoulders.

“I asked Jungkook for a divorce,” Taehyung told him with a regretful tone.
The redhead blinked, leaning down, with a sad expression.

"Oh, I'm so sorry, Taehyung," she told him honestly. Are you sure about this,
about what we have? You've been with Jungkook for so long that maybe...

"Don't say that," Taehyung interrupted softly. "I still love Jungkook, of course, but
it's an affection I have for him from the time we've been together, so... I'm clear
about how I feel about you, Hoseok."

Hoseok nodded hesitantly, then leaned in and placed a small kiss on her lips.

"I'm so sorry for Kookie," Hoseok murmured then, without moving too far away,
"he must be having a hard time, I feel guilty for doing this to him, but..."

"He'll understand," Taehyung answered, giving him a kiss on the hand, seriously.
Jungkook will understand in time.
Taehyung hoped that: that Jungkook could, as the weeks went by, heal that
wound he gave him despite having promised, years ago, that he would never
break his heart.

But promises, like dreams, seemed destined to be broken in any way and with no
possibility of being able to avoid that.

Warnings : VKook, drama, crack couples.

When he entered, Taehyung saw Jungkook sitting behind the table, staring into
space, his eyes red and puffy, a glass of wine in his hand.
Feigning a calmness he didn't feel, he closed the door behind him, and the sound
made Jungkook look at him.

Her husband blinked and then smiled slightly.

Taehyung hadn't seen him for three days, during which he was sleeping in a hotel
so that when they saw each other, Jungkook would start crying and ask him to
stay away, not smile.
The divorce letter in her bag weighed a little more. It needed to be signed to carry
out the process soon, so yes or yes I had to talk to Jungkook right then.

“I missed you a lot,” Jungkook commented suddenly, standing up.

Before she could say anything, Jungkook placed a soft kiss on her lips.

His stomach clenched, stunned.

He walked away, frowning in confusion.

"I thought you weren't coming to dinner," Jungkook continued as if nothing had
happened, still smiling, "I was about to call you."

He opened his mouth, but the words did not come out of his mouth, stunned.

Perhaps...?

He looked down, seeing the divorce papers.

"Jungkook," she said in a soft voice, "I came to have you sign the papers."

And he lifted them up.

The beautiful bunny smile he had fallen in love with when he was younger turned
into a pained pout, but he didn't retreat. I needed to do that soon. Once the
papers were signed, he would take his things out of the house to go to a small
apartment that he had seen for the last few days.

Jungkook shook his head.

—What are you saying, Taehyung? he asked, his voice shaking. Papers of what?
Sigh.

He had thought about it: when the papers were ready, he thought Jungkook
might react in different ways, and denial was one of them. The sad, terrible
denial.

Taehyung would have preferred Jungkook to collapse, yell at him, beg him, treat
him badly and not want to see him anymore, but not for him to try hard to deny
what was inevitable. Denying it was the worst, because it meant that Jungkook
still had any hope that what had happened was just a joke, or worse, a
fabrication.

"Divorce," he said without losing his soft tone.

Jungkook blinked.
"Oh," was the only thing he said.

He turned around before Taehyung could add anything to him.

Taehyung then noticed that the youngest was pale, with dark circles under his
swollen eyes, his lips dry and chapped. He could even notice that his face was
thinner. He was worried that Jungkook hadn't eaten well the previous few days,
however, he didn't dare ask.

"I prepared your favorite dish," Jungkook said then, without looking at him.

“Jungkook,” his voice came out harder now, “please don't make this harder.”

“Difficult,” Jungkook repeated. I don't understand.

He felt himself becoming desperate, something was squeezed when he saw

Jungkook's eyes, so warm and tender, but full of infinite pain that seemed to
shake him inside, breaking him into a thousand pieces. Those same eyes that
always seemed content and happy were now scared, afraid of him.

"I beg you," he murmured, his voice trembling.

But Jungkook just hugged himself, biting his bottom lip.

—Is it... is it because you already ate out? —he asked uncertainly—. I can
understand it if-
Shit, Jungkook, I don't love you anymore!

He hated himself for saying it so abruptly, his voice tinged with sadness and a
little anger as well. Why did Jungkook have to be such an idiot, so stupid? Why
did he have to adopt that attitude? Didn't he know that he also felt bad about
having to do that?

She saw him swallow, his brow furrowing slightly.

"Sign this, now," he ordered, showing the papers again.

Jungkook tilted his head.

-No.

The word echoed in the dining room, and suddenly, a cold calm spread across
her husband's face. Ex husband.

He opened his mouth in disbelief.

He took a step.
"Don't complicate everything," Taehyung growled, unable to help himself. Sign it
now. I'll get my things out and-

"I won't sign it." Jungkook raised his chin defiantly. I am not going to divorce the
man I love, Kim Taehyung. Not without first fighting.

He clenched his fist, the papers crumpling, and he felt hatred for Jeon Jungkook,
for his sad but firm eyes, for his calm - almost indifferent - expression, and his
demanding and absorbing presence.

Wasn't that all I had fallen in love with in the first place?

“You're behaving like a capricious child,” Taehyung warned contemptuously. "All

you're doing is humiliating yourself." He straightened, grimacing. Jungkook, I
don't love you anymore, it's that simple, so let's get this over with.

-Because? Jungkook asked, interrupting him. Why don't you love me anymore?
What changed? We were wrong, Yes, but is it enough for you to stop loving the
person you married? —he sat in the chair—. We had a crisis and you took refuge
in Hoseok, and you stop loving me?

He knew he had to put on a surprised expression at the mention of Hobi, but he

didn't say anything, asking a silent question with his gaze.
“They can be a little more discreet with their outings,” Jungkook replied bitterly. I
saw them when I was going to see you yesterday, okay? “I saw how you looked
at him, how you touched him, and yes, you love him.” He leaned on the back of
the chair, calmly. But Taehyung, not to brag, but you didn't look at him the same
way you've looked at me for eight long years.

He tried to ignore his words, to not let himself be intimidated by Jungkook's

demanding gaze, and put the papers on the table.

"Sign them, Jungkook," he ordered.

Jungkook took them.

and broke them.

Taehyung flew into a rage.

—Why do you have to complicate everything, Jungkook?! —he shouted

exasperated—. You're just looking pathetic and stupid with this attitude!

Jungkook didn't flinch at her screams.

"I know your feelings for me are still there, but they are withered." He threw the
papers on the floor with contempt. We're going to try it one more time, Taehyung,
it's that simple.

-You're crazy! —Taehyung growled, turning around. I wanted to do all this shit for
good, but you're just ruining it like always. I will have my lawyer-
-Thirty days.

I turned around.

Jungkook was still sitting, albeit with a new expression of defiance.

-That?

—Give me thirty days. "One month," he continued. "Thirty days to show you that
you still love me." If after that you continue to insist that you want a divorce, I will
sign without complaining.” His voice became low, pleading. Please, Taehyung.
Only thirty days.

Taehyung looked at him, stunned, and took a step back.

Then, he shook his head, feeling himself tremble under Jungkook's insistent
gaze.

"No," was the only thing he said before leaving there, slamming the door.

Jungkook sighed, alone, without moving.

He remained silent for a few seconds and then looked at his left hand, at the ring
finger, where the wedding ring continued to shine, and briefly remembered
Taehyung's hand, the ring also in its place.
—Ah, Taehyung, how did we get to this? —he murmured, knowing that there
would never be an answer to that sad, painful question.

3.

Warnings : Vkook, drama, crack couples.

—Jungkook, what the hell is wrong with you?

Jungkook looked at Jimin with an impassive gaze as he stuffed an ice cream

stick into Sohyun's little mouth. Nam's daughter had gotten sick the last few days
due to the cold wave that hit the city, and she was not the only one: that day,
Jungkook had a full agenda for at least another week.

He didn't care too much, because Jungkook loved children.

He had always wanted a child in his family, and the dream of adopting one was
still there in his head despite the instability with Taehyung.

Instability. As if that were it. As if they were going through a bad time and he
hadn't officially asked for a divorce three days ago.

In those three days, Jungkook had not heard from his still-husband, but he was
not going to call him to pressure him.
Jungkook knew Taehyung well enough to know what decision he was ultimately
going to make.

“Cough, honey,” he asked sweetly to Sohyun, who obeyed.

Namjoon's daughter, who had been the product of his ex-girlfriend Hyejin, was
charming to everyone. She was educated, pretty and tender, raised by her two
parents even though they were not together since they still maintained a great
friendship even though they had been boyfriends in the past.

Hyejin had no problem with Sohyun spending entire weeks with her father since
he had a heavy job as a manager of a fashion company and often traveled for
long periods of time; However, she was not an absent mother as many used to
think. He called Sohyun every night asking how her day went, and when Hyejin
was home, he paid his full attention to his daughter. Plus, he knew Jimin too,
Namjoon's current partner, and he had no qualms about Jimin being like a
second father to Sohyun.
—You've been eating ice cream secretly from your Uncle Jimin, haven't you,
angry girl? —Jungkook gently mocked the little girl, who turned red with guilt and
shame.

"Don't change the subject," Jimin demanded from behind him. Jungkook, damn,
how do you think of...? Taehyung doesn't deserve any chance! He cheated on
you with his assistant!
The brief memory of seeing Taehyung holding Hoseok's hand in his office,
speaking in his ear while causing him to laugh, caused a pang of pain in his
heart, but he feigned an indifference that he didn't feel so that Jimin wouldn't
continue challenging him.

Jungkook had never considered himself a jealous person, not like Taehyung.
While Taehyung was all possessiveness and growling, Jungkook was calm and
silent, because Taehyung had never given him reason to doubt him in those eight
years they were together.

Not until now.

"Acute bronchitis," he told Jimin, "Just rest, plenty of fluids and acetaminophen to
lower the fever."

Jimin muttered under his breath as he began to wrap Sohyun up.

“You should sign his stupid papers,” Jimin scolded, “and get rid of him.” You ask
him for the house, money and you send him to hell.
"Jimin," Jungkook said with a dry voice, "is still my husband and the man I love."
You don't understand it, so I'll tell you in an easy way: Taehyung still loves me, I
know it, he just has to realize that and I'll help him so that he doesn't regret
getting divorced later.

-Regret? Jimin sputtered, anger tinging his voice. When has Kim Taehyung
regretted something?

Never. Taehyung was a person who thought things through before doing
something. If he was asking for a divorce, it wasn't because of a hasty decision,
but because he had to spend weeks thinking about whether it was the right thing
to do or not.

"And if he really loves you," Jimin added, taking Sohyun in his arms, "then let him
realize it on his own and ask for your forgiveness on his knees." He has
humiliated you! Where the hell is your pride, Jungkook?

Jungkook looked up after signing Sohyun's prescription.

"Jiminnie," he said softly now, "do you know that pride is not everything in this
life?" "If we let ourselves be guided only by pride, then life would be a misery." He
smiled sadly. Life is not about who is the proudest, but about being able to forgive
and give second chances.

His best friend's hard expression softened a little to give way to pity.
"I don't want to see you cry anymore," Jimin murmured, "you don't deserve it,
Nochu." Not a person like you—she took a breath, fixing the girl's hat before
opening the door—. I still don't support you in this, but you're my best friend, so if
things don't work out... well, I'll always be there for you to cry on my shoulder.

Jungkook smiled brighter now.

"See you at the weekend," he gave Sohyun a small kiss on the cheek, "you get
better and listen to your uncle Chim, okay?"

"Yes uncle Nochu," Sohyun said smiling at him. He closed the door, sighing and
then telling his secretary to bring in the next patient.

Kim Seokjin and his little three-year-old son, Kim Changmin, smiled back.

Jungkook greeted Seokjin familiarly, whom he had known since little Changmin
was born, being something like his personal doctor whenever the child had any
complications in addition to being an advisor for Jin, since Changmin's mother
died when the baby He was only one year old and since then Jin raised him
without any help.

Besides...
Well, Jungkook wasn't stupid. The last few months he had noticed some flirting
and glances with double meaning from Jin, but he had always ignored them
because of how worried he was about his marriage to Taehyung. Besides, Jin
knew he was a married man, wasn't it pretty obvious with the ring on his ring
finger and the pictures he had on his desk?

The one that stood out the most was of course the one on their wedding day,
where they both wore white suits and looked happy in front of the judge after
saying yes.

But despite loving Taehyung, that didn't mean Jungkook couldn't look, and it was
quite obvious that he would look at a man like Kim Seokjin, with a face as
attractive, sensual and above all, sweet as the one he had.

"You look a little tired," Jin told him with a worried expression.

He made a vague gesture, wanting to downplay it.

“It's nothing,” he pointed out to Changmin, who was red-faced and sniffling. How
is my favorite patient feeling?

“Wrong,” Changmin mumbled with teary eyes.

Jin sat the child on the stretcher, anxious.

"He was coughing all day yesterday and he barely slept at all that night because
of that, plus he has a fever and says his throat hurts," he explained.

Jungkook began to attend to him diligently.

Fortunately, Changmin was the last kid of the day, so he wasn't in a rush to finish
early and then he could go home and get some rest.

To his empty, cold house now.

He bit his bottom lip, finding his eyes a little watery at that thought.

He decided to focus on work, he didn't need to get emotional now.

After several minutes examining the little boy he came to his verdict: tonsillitis. He
gave Jin a prescription for antibiotics, recommending Changmin rest and plenty
of fluids, seeing his relieved expression when he saw that it wasn't something
that serious.

—Are you going home now, Jungkook?—Jin asked him as he wrapped up his
son.
He nodded, distracted, putting the things into his bag.

Normally, Taehyung used to go pick him up during the afternoons to go together

and have dinner together, although in recent weeks his husband had sent him
messages telling him that he had extra work so not to wait for him to eat.

He took cover.
—Don't you want us to take you? —Jin offered kindly.

She looked at the black-haired man, noticing the interest in his eyes, and her first
thought was to refuse, alluding to the fact that her husband would go look for him,
not to worry, but if he was honest with himself...

Well, Jungkook was tired.

"That... would be nice," he agreed, smiling softly.

Yes, he was exhausted from traveling with no one by his side, arriving at an
empty and cold house, eating something cold while watching TV to do something
and then going to lie down on that huge bed that now felt uncomfortable and sad.
Especially when he thought that Taehyung might be sharing a bed with his lover.

He tried to deflect that thought, pretending to listen to Jin's conversation, telling

him about his son's achievements in kindergarten, climbing into the passenger
seat without saying anything else.

Would Taehyung enjoy his encounters with Hoseok? Surely he did, after all,
didn't he seem in love and attentive to him as he had been with him for so long?

Jungkook was afraid of losing him, although a part of him whispered that it was
too late, that Taehyung had gotten out of hand and now belonged to someone
else.

He didn't want to be negative, Jungkook tried to believe in the love that Taehyung
had for him - he had - and appeal to it to win him back, to show him that his love
was still there, he just had to water it, but after that, what would come? Things
would never be the same again, it was clear to me.

How would they be when Taehyung was loving someone else at that very
moment?
And how could she not love Hoseok? Jungkook knew him not only by sight, he
had also spoken with him when he met him when visiting Taehyung in his office.
Hoseok was a handsome, educated, kind, intelligent and funny man, who used to
attract attention wherever he went with his bearing.

Jungkook, on the other hand, couldn't compete with him.

Where Hoseok was all laughter, Jungkook was barely a laugh. Where Hoseok
was a rose bush, Jungkook was just a daisy. Where Hoseok was a storm,
Jungkook was hopefully a drizzle.

Jungkook didn't blame Taehyung for falling in love with Hoseok.

But still, it hurt because Jungkook had always prided himself on having
Taehyung's heart all to himself, and now he had none of that left. Just a small
hope that Taehyung would notice that they were destined, they were soul mates,
and decide to accept that silly but comforting offer that could end very badly.
Although if things failed...

What would Jungkook do without Taehyung?

Eight years of love were not easy to forget even if it had been for Taehyung.

—Jungkook, why are you crying?

He blinked, looking up, finding Jin's worried face in front of him.

He then realized that Jin was parked outside his house and Changmin was
sleeping in the back seat, sitting in his car seat.

He brought his hands to his cheeks, feeling them wet, and opened his mouth to
apologize.

Although what came out was not an apology, but a gasp of pain mixed with a
sob.

He covered his mouth, completely collapsing without knowing why.

It hurt, it hurt so much to see that Taehyung, the person he considered the love of
his life, suddenly realized that he did not love him as he said he did, looking for
another person to share his life with, and did it at a side because I didn't want it
anymore.
It hurt to be discarded and thrown away.

It hurt to see that he was the only one in love and the only one who was giving
something for a marriage that seemed lost for a long time.

"I-I'm-sorry..." he sobbed between hiccups.

"No, no, don't apologize, it's okay," Jin said quickly with sadness in his voice.
Don't cry, Jungkookie, please, it breaks me to see you like this.

Jin's hands caressed his wet, swollen face, but he saw no revulsion or disgust in
his eyes, only eternal affection and tenderness, genuine concern and affection
that he hadn't seen in a long time.

No, Taehyung was the only one to look at him that way for so many years that he
had forgotten what it was like to have another person care about you that way.

"Taehyung... he asked me for a di-divorce..." she said through tears, "he

doesn't... he doesn't love me anymore..." And it's okay, I-I swear, I don't... I can't
make him love me, but... but it doesn't make it any easier, and it hurts so, so
much...
He let Jin's arms wrap around him, pulling him into that warm, unfamiliar but
comfortable body that seemed to hold him so well in that moment, and soon left
his shoulder wet with tears as he continued to sob from the sadness that
overcame him.
"Calm down, my love..." Jin murmured, stroking her hair, "I know it hurts, don't be
ashamed of that, baby." She felt soft lips kissing her forehead and looked at him
through tears. Jungkookie, if you want-

He couldn't hear it because at that moment someone abruptly opened the

passenger door and grabbed his coat, pulling it, separating him in a surprising
way.

He let out a soft cry as Jin complained, getting out of the car.

—Hey, idiot!

Jungkook turned around, meeting Taehyung's disgusted face.

He looked at him, surprised to notice his jaw clenched, his eyes flashing with
anger.

“Thirty days,” Taehyung conceded, anger coloring his voice.

But his words did not surprise him.

No, what surprised him was seeing on Taehyung's face, after he had asked for a
divorce, an irrational jealousy that he had not seen since they were both twenty
years old and were foolish, deluded young people, but above all, in love.
4.

Warnings: Vkook, drama, crack couples.

Taehyung in front of him still had a clenched jaw and a look of annoyance even
though Seokjin had left minutes ago and they were left alone.

He hadn't said anything even when Jungkook poured him a glass of water, telling
him to calm down.

He sat next to her, biting his bottom lip.

"You didn't have to react that way, Taehyung," she told him in a soft voice.

Taehyung looked at him with a frown.

—I was going to kiss you. That damn bastard was going to kiss you and-

"And you kissed Hoseok," Jungkook interrupted, now with a hurt expression. Isn't
that unfair, Taehyung? That you have a lover and are behaving that way? Have
you already slept with him?

Taehyung didn't say anything for several seconds, drinking water in silence, and
when he put the glass on the living room table, he looked much calmer.
“No,” Taehyung said, “you know I haven't, Jungkook.”

Jungkook pursed his lips, shaking his head.

—Why should I believe you?

"Because you know I wouldn't lie to you about that," Taehyung replied, standing
up. As much as I want a divorce and I'm in love with Hoseok, you know I won't
sleep with him until the papers are signed. You even know that if I have kissed
him, it was after asking you to separate, after telling you the truth, right?

Smiling bitterly, Jungkook nodded, forcing himself not to look hurt despite
Taehyung's words.

She was clear that her husband wouldn't lie to her with that, that he was telling
the truth, but that didn't make it any easier. In some strange way, if she had told
him that she was sleeping with Hoseok, he wouldn't have so many doubts
because he would have attributed Taehyung's desire for separation to
Taehyung's crush on his assistant, however... If they hadn't slept together and
hopefully shared a kiss, that meant deeper feelings that terrified him.

—What are you doing here Taehyung? —Jungkook asked in a broken voice.
Taehyung pointed to his bag.

"I'm coming for the papers," he answered impassively, "but I'm also clear that
you're a very stubborn person, Jungkook," he sighed, sitting down. "Thirty days,
isn't that right?"

Jungkook nodded silently, looking into his husband's dark eyes.

—How do you intend to do it, Jungkook? —Taehyung softened his tone—. You
understand that I don't love you anymore, right? You're only hurting yourself
more, Kookie.

Being called by a diminutive made something hurt inside him.

—More damage? —He mocked brokenly. —How will Taehyung hurt myself
more? The man I love wants to leave me because he is in love with someone
else and all I ask for is thirty days so I can show him that I can still be enough for
him.

Taehyung's expression changed, and the taller one took his hands, calling his
attention, asking him to calm down a little.

“Jungkookie, baby,” Taehyung murmured, “don't say things like that, okay?”
You are... you are more than enough for anyone, in fact, I would say that... no
one deserves you, least of all me - Taehyung tried to smile at him, although
Jungkook looked away, knowing that he would soon start crying - .
Jungkookie, I still love you, and because I appreciate you enough that I'm asking
you this. Please sign the papers, no need to continue with this nonsense.

His lip trembled.

—Nonsense? —he swallowed—. Does wanting to fight for your love seem silly to
you? He stood up, suddenly angry. Does wanting to save our marriage, our eight-
year relationship, seem silly to you?

"You know that's not what I mean."

“Thirty fucking days,” Jungkook demanded. Is that what I ask of you, Taehyung,
or you will have to call my lawyer for the divorce.

Taehyung grimaced, annoyed as well.

"Whatever you want," he snapped, his voice hard, "but as soon as you finish your
show, then you'll have to sign everything I ask of you."
He let out a cold laugh.
"Okay," he took a step, bending down until he was at Taehyung's height, "but
these thirty days, Taehyung, you will be mine alone, understand?" I don't want to
see you romantically with Hoseok or spending nights out saying you have to
work. For this to work, you have to do your part too.

Taehyung gritted his teeth, staring into Jungkook's brown eyes, and felt
something strange stir in his stomach at seeing such a determined look on his
husband's face. But above all, something shivered when she noticed how
beautiful Jungkook looked so close to her.

How long had it been since she had him by her side like that?

I couldn't remember it well.

"Fine," he approached, his breath colliding with Jungkook's breathing, "but I don't
want to see you near that flame-faced guy either, Kookie."

Jungkook raised an eyebrow.

—Are you perfect, Kim?

He licked his lips, growling a curse under his breath.

—I told you not with my beauty, Kookie.
For the first time in days, Jungkook felt his lips curve into a shy, slightly shaky
smile.

—You must be in a fun mood, Taehyung.

The dark haired man looked at his best friend, Yoongi, sitting in front of him with
a look of disbelief on his face.

He shrugged, indifferent.

—And Hoseok accepted that? —Yoongi insisted when he didn't hear any
response from Taehyung.

Taehyung closed his laptop, yawning, feigning an indifference he didn't feel in the
face of his friend's pressure.
Yoongi, always smiling and ready to joke, now looked annoyed, irritated, and why
not say it, indignant.

"We fought," Taehyung answered, "he wasn't amused."

—Of course he wouldn't be amused! —Yoongi exclaimed, standing up. Damn,
Taehyung, how can you even think of accepting something like that? —the one
with mint hair looked at him, furious—. Wasn't it enough for you to hurt Jungkook,
now you plan to destroy him? And not only that, you're also breaking Hoseok's
heart...

"I want a quiet divorce, Yoon, without fights, without lawyers, without having to go
to court, and if I have to wait thirty stupid days, I will," Taehyung explained,
putting his things away. “I know you're not in favor of this, after all, you didn't
support me when I told you about the divorce either,” he added with resentment
in his voice.

Yoongi snorted.

—How do you want me to support you when I know you are making a serious
mistake? —his friend asked sadly—. Taehyung, shit, we've been friends since we
went to school, I know Jungkook and I know that their relationship is one of the
most beautiful things I've ever seen, and now you want to destroy it on a whim...
Taehyung glared at his best friend.

"It's not a whim," Taehyung snapped, "I really love Hoseok."

The mint-haired man let out an unamused laugh.

—Love it? Of course you do,” Yoongi shook his head, “but what you feel for
Jungkook goes beyond that. It has always gone beyond that. Why are you the
only person who doesn't see it?

Taehyung looked at him silently.

If he was honest with himself, what he felt for Jungkook had never been as clear
to him as everyone used to say. I loved him? Of course he did, there was no
doubt about that.

The love she felt - or felt for Jungkook - was so great that she never felt that a
few simple words ( I love you ) could express them in their entirety, could really
show what she felt for him.

He remembered that clumsy boy who arrived at his class at the age of fifteen,
with braces, brown hair and a hesitant, nervous look. Jungkook seemed like a
boy who was easy to bully and bother, it was noticeable right away, so he
became a quick target for the class bullies.

But when Jungkook was pushed in front of him, making him fall to the ground,
Taehyung couldn't help but want to protect him from everything bad in the world.

From that day on, Jungkook chased him everywhere like a lost puppy, wanting
his beloved hyung to even glance at him, to say a word of pride, to be happy with
a caress, with a smile.
Taehyung had always been the one to take the first steps, of course, but it was
Jungkook who had been in front of him all this time waiting to receive him.

But now...

"I don't want to keep talking about this," Taehyung growled.

Yoongi sighed, knowing that he didn't have to continue harping on that topic.

-Only... “Taehyung, please think carefully about your actions,” Yoongi pleaded,
“you are my best friend, but Jungkook is also my friend, and I don't want to see
him suffer because of you.” No Jungkook, Taehyung. Jungkook doesn't deserve
it.
He wanted to say something to her, but Yoon waved him off, alluding that Jisoo
was waiting for him to go out to eat, and he swallowed his words.

Half an hour later, he stopped outside the hospital, a strange feeling in his
stomach. He hadn't gone to look for Jungkook at work for so long that even the
guards seemed surprised by it, waving hesitantly. Minutes later, Jungkook was
walking out of the doors of the building, bundled up as he could because of the
cold. It was the end of January, winter hitting the city in a harsh and icy way.

Jungkook walked in, his nose red, and Taehyung watched him without knowing
exactly why.
Jungkook had always looked cute with his cheeks covered in red.

But it was only when Jungkook leaned down and placed a kiss on his cheek that
he blinked, reacting.

"Hello, Taehyung," he greeted in a shy voice.

Taehyung stared ahead, something shaking inside him.

"Hello Jungkookie," he answered quietly. As was your day?

Jungkook started to talk, and strangely, things felt good .

When Taehyung entered the house, a delicious smell of meat stew invaded his
nose, and he felt his stomach growl with hunger.
He blinked, surprised, because he couldn't remember the last time Jungkook
decided to cook stew. The last few months, due to the amount of work they both
had, they used to eat out or order something to take away, leaving aside the
homemade meals, the lunches together, the silly but nice conversations they
used to have.
"Welcome, Taehyung," Jungkook shouted from the kitchen, and inevitably, he
addressed her as he used to do before, only instead of hugging him around the
waist to make him laugh, then giving her a couple of kisses on the neck and
shoulders. lips, he limited himself to standing under the door frame, seeing her
face red from the heat in the place, her relaxed expression and the sunflower
apron tied around her waist. I missed you a lot, how was today?

He couldn't take his eyes off Jungkook.

I couldn't divert them, I couldn't stop seeing that bright look in her eyes, that
beautiful bunny smile she had, those dimples that I wanted to touch all the time.

For a brief moment, she wanted to hug Jungkook, bury her face in his chest and
snuggle in his arms, like she had done months ago, when things seemed to be
going well, when Hoseok was just an assistant and not something more.

Hoseok.
Poor Hoseok looking at him with pity and annoyance at the decision to accept
Jungkook's proposal, speaking only what was necessary, not wanting to have a
private conversation with him.

"Well," he responded in a distant tone, beginning to take off his jacket, "I closed a
new deal, I'm going to dedicate myself to designing a new shopping center."

"Congratulations," Jungkook said, turning his back on him, "you deserve it, Tae,
you work hard."
And you, Jungkook, deserve someone better , Taehyung thought walking to the
room to change clothes.

Inevitably, he remembered Jungkook inside the car of that stranger he called one
of his patients, looking at him with so much adoration and tenderness that his
stomach clenched for some reason he couldn't understand, and the desperate
need to get him away from him, from preventing him from kissing him, came
inevitably forcing him to act.

He sounded like a fucking selfish son of a bitch, he knew, but that wasn't it.
Jungkook could easily get excited, and this stranger only wanted him for a
moment, wasn't he saving him more suffering then?

It was that. Just that, he swore.

Jungkook, meanwhile, sighed as he turned off the stove, the stew already ready,
the sautéed potatoes prepared. He had left earlier that day because his last
patient canceled, so he took the opportunity to get home early and put his
culinary skills into action.

He remembered that before, when the two of them had time, they could spend all
day cooking new recipes, often ending up with food poisoning because they didn't
tend to worry too much about what they were doing. Without going any further,
while something was cooked or fried or boiled, they made love on the kitchen
table, without caring if what they cooked ended up burnt.

She couldn't help but blush when she thought of those occasions when they
couldn't resist getting to their room, making love where they were. That whole
house was marked.

So, on his way out, he thought he could cook something for dinner that night.
After all, it had been a week since Taehyung agreed to give in to his thirty days,
and while they hadn't fought, it's not like he'd made much progress either.

Things were... they were the same as always. Yes, Taehyung would pick him up
after work, they would talk about how their day had gone, they would have dinner
together, and then they would go to sleep.
Jungkook wanted to try something riskier, maybe make love to Taehyung, make
him see that they were still connected, however, he was afraid that Taehyung
would reject him.

And Jungkook didn't seem able to handle that rejection.

He served the food, taking it to the dining room where Taehyung was filling the
glasses with wine, and took off the apron he bought when they first moved into
that house.

—How was work for you? —Taehyung asked calmly as he sat down.

Jungkook shrugged.

"Same old as always, sick kids and scared parents," he smiled softly. Sohyun
was much better. Today Namjoon and Jimin accompanied her, they told me that
they were thinking about adopting so that Sohyun wouldn't be alone.

"It's a long process," Taehyung responded indifferently.

Jungkook's smile turned somewhat sad and embarrassed.

-Yeah...

Tehyung let the air out of his lungs, feeling a pang of pain in his heart as he saw
Jungkook's distant, affected expression, and then bit his lower lip.

"I have two tickets to the cinema tomorrow," he then said, noticing how her eyes
lit up, "do you want to go?" Then we can have dinner out, Jungkookie.

Jungkook nodded, glad to see that Taehyung was inviting him out. He had
thought about doing it himself, however, it hadn't occurred to him where to go.
Planning dates usually never worked out well for him.

—What movie is it? —he asked enthusiastically.

Taehyung smirked.

"It's a horror one," he said with a certain mocking tone in his voice.
Her husband looked at him in disbelief.
—Taehyung, you know I don't like those! —he exclaimed like a little child.

"Come on Nochu, you're twenty-eight years old," Taehyung complained,

"besides, you have no reason to be afraid." Hyung will be there to protect you.

Her mouth couldn't release any sound when Taehyung said that last sentence as
if nothing had happened, although there was a whole story behind it: when they
were seventeen, when they both went to the amusement park, Jungkook took her
hand as if nothing had happened, drawing her attention, telling him that phrase
so that he wouldn't be afraid, and the game began.

Of course, Jungkook came out crying too, promising that he would never get up
there again, but that phrase remained engraved in both of their minds as a secret
promise between the two.

"If I have nightmares it will be your fault," Jungkook said in a weak voice.

Taehyung nodded.

"It's a good thing we sleep together then, Jungkookie," Taehyung replied.

Jungkook was happy to see Taehyung try, even if Taehyung was still confused
and hesitant. Even if it had hurt her and broken her heart.

But I preferred to see him trying rather than seeing him giving up.
If Taehyung gave up, then Jungkook could give up.

—Hello, Jin, how are you?

Kim Seokjin smiled at Jungkook as if nothing had happened, sitting in front of him
with Changmin in his arms, the boy sniffling his snot-filled nose, looking at him
with teary eyes.

"Changmin hasn't improved much since we last saw each other," Jin said with
pity in his voice, "he's already making me nervous, what if he gets worse,
Jungkook?"
"Hey, calm down, Jinnie," Jungkook tried to console, standing up. Come on,
Changmin, do you trust Uncle Kookie?

“Yes,” Changmin whimpered, letting Jungkook take him into his arms.

Silently, Jungkook began to examine the boy with his brow furrowed in
concentration, asking him where it hurt the most and also asking Jin about certain
things. After ten minutes examining the child, Jungkook sighed and told Jin that
apparently Changmin's tonsillitis had led to a small acute bacterial sinusitis.

"You'll have to take antibiotics for a week and a half," he told Jin, writing down the
names of the remedies on the prescription, "then I'll re-evaluate him." You're
going to get better, Changmin, and you'll be able to run around in the park.

Jungkook made to walk towards the door to open it, however, before he could do
so, Jin grabbed his arm, stopping him in his tracks. She looked at him, one
eyebrow raised in intrigue, and then felt her throat dry as she noticed Jin's
pleading eyes.

"Jungkookie, um..." Jin began to say shyly, "I... I wanted to ask you about what
happened with your ex-husband." I know I shouldn't get involved, but...

“Oh,” Jungkook shifted uncomfortably, biting his bottom lip. Well, Taehyung and
I... we're giving ourselves a new chance...
Jin's gaze seemed to dull at Jungkook's words, and without knowing why, he felt
somewhat guilty. He wanted Jin not to get his hopes up for him, not to wait for
him, but he also didn't feel able to intervene in his heart like that because, as
much as he wanted Jin not to look at him that way, he couldn't decide for him.

-You're sure? He looked up at Jin's serious tone. You said Taehyung didn't love
you anymore. So are you sure it's worth giving someone who stopped loving you
a chance?

He knew that Jin didn't do it with bad intentions, that he must be worried about
him, that he didn't want to see him having a bad time - they were, after all, the
same words that Jimin and Namjoon said to him days before - but that didn't
make it any easier. .
Everyone believed that Taehyung didn't deserve it, and they might be right, but
the world wasn't about giving opportunities to people who really deserve it and
taking them away from those who weren't worth it.

No, Taehyung didn't deserve that he was doing this for him, but Jungkook loved
him so strongly, so desperately, he felt such an immense love for him, such an
enormous attachment to that man, that he felt he had to do it.

For him. By Taehyung. For those eight years that they were together, as
boyfriends, married, sharing days, weeks, months; sharing dreams and desires;
sharing laughter and screams and cries.

And Taehyung was doing his part, he could swear that on his life, because his
husband was coming to look for him every day, he asked him how it had been,
they had breakfast and dinner together, they talked and they didn't allow the
silence between them to break. will install. They had even gone out twice last
weekend! Not only did they go to the movies and then to dinner, but on Sunday
they decided to go to the zoo to see a newly opened penguin show, and although
they did not kiss, there was a brief moment in which they both stood watching in
silence, They were about to melt into a kiss, but they ended up looking away,
embarrassed, like two stupid teenagers on their first date.

Jungkook could feel that love was returning, why couldn't the rest support him a
little more?
"Jin, please, you are my friend and I appreciate your opinion, but I ask you not to
get involved in this," Jungkook asked kindly in a sad tone. If it doesn't work out,
then it's okay, at least I tried. But if it were to work out, then... wouldn't all of this
have been worth it?

Jin looked away, embarrassed, shaking his head, then sighed.

"I just don't want to see you crying, that breaks my heart," Jin murmured.

Jungkook smiled sweetly at him.

—It's okay if I cry, that makes us human, Jin.

His friend nodded reluctantly.

"I guess then it's not worth inviting you to go out on Valentine's Day or when you
have your birthday," he said in an ironic tone.

Jungkook shook his head.

“Taehyung and I always celebrate both dates together with dinner,” Jungkook
remembered, suddenly getting excited at the thought of it.
There was only a week left until her birthday, so she had to reserve the
restaurant they were going to, that old place where they had their first date,
where they went to dinner on every special date, and where Taehyung had asked
her to marry him as well. That little restaurant was his personal, private little
refuge.

Jin groaned, resigned.

"I hope you have a good time then, Kookie," Jin said, "because you deserve it."

Jungkook could only smile at him, happy, feeling that life was finally smiling at
him.
Taehyung finished putting a report in his bag when he felt the familiar presence of
someone else in the office.

He looked up, calm, meeting Hoseok's sad gaze.

"Is something wrong, Hobi?" —he asked calmly, although he could feel his heart
breaking when his assistant shook his head.

“I just… miss you,” Hoseok murmured, his voice breaking.

The shorter one closed his eyes for a moment, leaning on the table, and didn't
move when suddenly Hoseok hugged him around the waist, burying his face in
his shoulder, clinging to him with an almost painful desperation.

They hadn't been together for two weeks, since Taehyung accepted Jungkook's
deal, and he knew that the separation was affecting Hoseok a lot, especially
since Taehyung was keeping his word to stay away from him that time.

Taehyung felt guilty, he felt like a son of a bitch, he felt like a bastard for playing
with such a beautiful person because of his damn indecision.

And the worst? I just didn't know if I was playing with Jungkook or Hoseok.

Because when he saw Hoseok, his heart seemed to race, he couldn't help but
snort and smile at his jokes and feel a warmth running through his body at having
his assistant close. But when he was picking up Jungkook, he
He found his eyes, those lips smiled at him with that beautiful smile that he had,
he could feel how everything seemed to light up around him, his body reacted by
leaning towards his partner and he wanted to spend the whole day curled up
against him.

He didn't know what to do in that situation, he didn't know what to do with

Jungkook, with Hoseok, because two weeks ago he was sure of his decision and
his feelings, but at that moment, his security seemed to have gone to shit.

"I don't want to lose you," Hoseok whispered as he stroked her hair.

He wanted to tell him that he wouldn't do it, that that was never going to happen,
but Taehyung didn't want to lie to him either, because now everything was
confusing for him.

He gently pushed Hoseok away from him, trying to stay calm.

—Did you organize my agenda for next week? —he asked softly.

Hoseok nodded, looking away.

—The meeting with the investors from Japan was set for Wednesday, at six in
the afternoon —said Hoseok, biting his lower lip—, they didn't want another time,
and since you said to coordinate according to what they asked for...

"It's okay," he said, nodding, "you don't have to worry about that." He grabbed her
cheeks, drawing her attention. Now go home, Seok, you have to rest. You've
been pushing yourself a lot these days, do you think I haven't noticed?

"Spend it with me," Hoseok asked, "I need you."

Taehyung denied silently.

"You know I can't," he reminded her.

Hoseok stepped back, grimacing.

"You're a damn coward, Taehyung," he said with fury in his voice, leaving the
office at a quick pace.

You think I don't know? , Taehyung thought bitterly.

Hours later, while having dinner with Jungkook, who couldn't stop chattering
about his day, he asked him that question that had been tormenting him for so
many days:

-Because you love me?

Jungkook fell silent, turning to look at Taehyung with surprise painting his face,
although his expression softened when he noticed his husband's sad eyes.
Gently, he took her hand, giving it a squeeze.

-Why do not do it? —His voice was affectionate—. Baby, I love you because I just
can. What I feel for you is as natural as breathing or blinking, you know? Because
everything can go wrong, everything can be falling apart, but if you look at me, if
you smile at me... then I know that everything is going to be okay.

Taehyung felt miserable, his eyes filling with tears.

“No, you don't understand,” Taehyung sobbed. Why do you still love me? Why do
you say you need me when you don't need me? Why don't you hate me? —
Jungkook wanted to speak, but Taehyung continued —. You shouldn't love me,
not when I tore you, broke you, when I made you cry for my actions and made
you cry.
said that I don't love you anymore. And yet, even after all that, you... you still call
me baby like I haven't done anything wrong...

Jungkook stood up, and suddenly hugged him tightly, allowing him to bury his
face in his chest, leaving small kisses in front of him with an infinite love that
shook him inside.

Because he didn't know what he felt, and that scared him a lot.

"You didn't do anything wrong, Taehyung," Jungkook murmured, "you just did
what you thought was right." And it's okay, my love, I promise. No matter what
you do, Taehyung, I could never hate you, okay? —Taehyung nodded, hiccuping,
and then Jungkook added with a joke in his voice—. Come on, baby, stop crying.
Wipe away those ugly tears and give your Kookie a kiss instead.

Taehyung gave a breathy laugh, watching Jungkook's smile, and did so.

Taehyung kissed him.

And for a moment, things felt good.

—You are a beautiful girl, Sohyun!

—Of course it is, look who he has for a mother.

Jungkook began to laugh when Hyejin said that as if it were nothing, organizing
the girl's backpack since he would spend those days with her after he returned
from his business trip. Namjoon, meanwhile, was fixing-destroying the television
while Jimin was cooking something for dinner.

—Do you have everything, So? —Hyejin asked him, taking his hand.
-Yes mom!

—Then go say goodbye to your father and your uncles, where are your manners,
little sheep?

Sohyun stuck her tongue out at her mother, earning herself a pinch on the nose,
and then ran to say goodbye to Jimin and Jungkook, leaving Namjoon for last.

"Goodbye, dad," Sohyun said goodbye affectionately, "I'm going to miss you!"
And please try not to destroy something!

Namjoon started to laugh.

"Have a good time with your mom, princess," he said goodbye, kissing her on the
forehead. See you in a few days.
Seconds later, the door of the house was closed, leaving only the three of them in
Namjoon and Jimin's small home.

"Hey, Kookie," Jimin said from the kitchen, "come on, I want to give you
something on your special day."
Jungkook frowned, shaking his head, and walked into the room, standing still as
a huge smile spread across his face.

Some Snoopy slippers were on the table with a gift ribbon, so he started laughing
out of fun and then hugged his best friend, giving him a kiss on the cheek.

—And what for me? Jimin spent my money! —Namjoon complained as he

entered.

Jungkook laughed again, also hugging Namjoon out of emotion, thanking him for
the nice and simple present, trying to ignore the distressing feeling in his chest
because that day he turned twenty-nine and Taehyung had not greeted him in the
morning.

Although it's not as if he had expected it, because Taehyung was never usually
the first to wish him a happy birthday: on the contrary, he always preferred to be
the last, so when it was that day, they would get together after work to go to
dinner, just the two of them. two and have a wonderful night without anyone to
bother them.

So Jungkook was prepared, he was ready, because he already had the

reservation for the restaurant they always went to, and he was looking forward to
that night, because if everything went well, maybe it could end with the two of
them making love and recovering that magic that they had. It surrounded them
when they were together.
Jungkook knew, trusted, Taehyung for that day, because he had never
disappointed him on a birthday before.

—Don't you want to have dinner with us? Jimin asked with a worried expression.
You can invite Taehyung if you want...

Jungkook shook his head, excited.

—Things are fine! —he said smiling—. Taehyung kissed me, Jiminnie, he took
the initiative! I didn't think he was going to do it, but he caught me by surprise,
and these days he has been more affectionate and sweet to me.

Jimin smiled weakly almost reluctantly, but he didn't take it too seriously because
he knew what Jimin's opinion was about that. It still hurt him, however, he knew
he couldn't do much about it, he could only accept that his best friend was not
fully supporting him.

-How much time you have left?

And of course, his boyfriend didn't agree with him either.

Jungkook looked at Namjoon, biting his bottom lip.
"A week," he answered hesitantly.

Namjoon nodded.

"You shouldn't get your hopes up until the end," Namjoon replied without bad
intentions, "maybe Taehyung is saying goodbye in his own way."

Jungkook twitched, tightening his mouth in a rictus of annoyance as he turned

around, hurt by the way they treated him, as if he were a dumb, idiotic child who
couldn't understand the things they said to him.

Maybe it was. Maybe he was an idiot and an asshole and stupid for having done
that, for being so stubborn and insistent when things were already over, but what
could he do? Close your eyes, nod, feel miserable, and then pretend you didn't
share eight years of your life with Taehyung? Walk away, pretend you didn't love
him, try not to cry when you see him with someone else?

Yes, as if that were so easy.

As if he could do that with a willing smile on his face, trying to drown out his own
feelings by telling him that he wasn't enough for Taehyung and that's why he
abandoned him.
Jungkook was trying his best to make it work, and if in the end it didn't, then he
would be able to say without any guilt that he worked hard to give their
relationship a new chance. That way he couldn't accuse himself of being a
coward for not wanting to give a little more even if he was hurt.

Everyone told him that he was a person who made them have hope that
everything could go well. How could he turn back and then look in the mirror,
when things were over?

Hope was for fools, everyone told him so, but just sometimes, hope could also be
very powerful.

"See you," he snapped without turning around, "thanks for the gift."

—Jungkook...

"They've said enough," he murmured, leaving the kitchen at a hasty pace, not
wanting to look into his friends' eyes full of compassion.

No, that day, they weren't going to ruin it. Their hopes were set for that day, and
none of them would ruin that.

Taehyung sat in front of the investors from Japan, maintaining a cold and icy
expression as Hoseok took out all the documents that were going to be signed
that day if the meeting went well.

He wanted to close that deal quickly so he could return home quickly and go to
sleep. Being able to achieve that would mean that his company would be able to
expand without any problem in addition to giving him great extra income, and
although Taehyung was not an ambitious person, that deal was too good to
refuse.

Jungkook was surely going to congratulate her for that, after all, her husband was
always happy when he saw how well she was doing at work.

Even though work was one of the reasons why their marital relationship had
deteriorated so much.

But he was sure that Jungkook wouldn't mind if he arrived home a little later that
day, and then he would explain it to him, taking advantage of the fact that that
day he seemed to be more cheerful than usual. He'd even sent him a supportive
message at lunch, wishing him luck and telling him he was excited to see him
later to congratulate him on closing that deal.

Hoseok began speaking in his somewhat fluent Japanese, communicating with

the investors while still smiling charmingly, and Taehyung stared at him for a
moment.

He knew there was a week left to make his final decision, but if he was honest, at
this point he wasn't so sure what he really wanted.

Having Jungkook smiling at him every day, talking to him and making him laugh,
giving him small but sweet kisses, made his heart beat crazy, his cheeks turned
red and he wanted to hug Jungkook all day long, promising him the whole world.

However, she also knew that Jungkook deserved a person who could give him
his heart completely, not someone who had hurt him so much and had so many
doubts about his love.

Although if he was honest with himself, imagining Jungkook with someone else
sent a pang of burning regret through his body, believing it inconceivable that
Jungkook would be with someone else other than him.
Hobi looked at him, translating what the investors had said, and Taehyung
answered calmly. He knew very well how to run all those businesses despite
having his mind elsewhere.

The deal dragged on for hours, but I had already planned for that; However, he
was a little surprised that when he left the restaurant with the conversation
already closed, it being ten at night, Jungkook had not called him. He shrugged,
brushing it off, knowing that, in all likelihood, Jungkook had to have foreseen that
this was going to drag on.

-Do you want me to take you? —He asked Hoseok calmly as he watched him
search his wallet for money for the bus.
Hoseok glanced at him, pursing his lips, then reluctantly nodded.

They walked in silence towards Taehyung's car, entering without saying anything,
and soon set off in the direction of Hoseok's apartment.

Inside the vehicle, there was a tense and heavy silence, interrupted by the
sudden rain that began to fall.

—Have you already made your decision? —Hoseok asked after several seconds.
Taehyung squeezed the handlebars, not answering.

They remained silent for another moment.

"If I had known you would do this to me, Taehyung," Hoseok murmured, "I would
never have fallen in love with you." Jungkook may be a creep, but I'm not a
beggar.

You twitched at Hoseok's words, stopping abruptly at the contempt in his tone of
voice.

He didn't care if he offended him, if he said a lot of shit to him, but talking about
Jungkook like that...

That was not going to be allowed.

"Well, I wish I hadn't fallen in love with you either, Hoseok," he spat, driving
again.

He stopped minutes later outside Hoseok's building.

Later, he was entering his own apartment, frowning when he saw that everything
was dark and freezing, surprising himself when he noticed that Jungkook wasn't
in the room either.

Where was it? His eyes wandered around the dining room, stunned, and then
turned when the door latch clicked, indicating that someone was entering.

A soaked Jungkook walked in, his hair and coat dripping with water, his red, puffy
eyes looking up at him.

Flicker.

—Jungkook? Baby? —he asked with his voice trembling.

Jungkook focused his eyes on him.

"Oh," he shook his head, smiling weakly, "what's wrong?"

Taehyung furrowed his brow, approaching slowly.

—Nothing, just... Where were you?
Jungkook took off his coat calmly, taking his time to respond, and then shrugged.

"I was eating at Jimin and Namjoon's house, I was a little late, I'm so sorry,"
Jungkook apologized. Did you just arrive, too?

Taehyung felt guilty for some strange reason, an unpleasant feeling settling in his
stomach, anxiety and anguish squeezing his heart, but he didn't know why.

"Yes, the deal with the Japanese investors was quite extended," he said
apologetically, biting his lower lip, unable to stop looking at the traces of tears on
her face, and before he chickened out, he decided to ask. Jungkook, why did you
cry?

Her husband looked stunned for a moment before he began to laugh

nonchalantly, raising his hand to her damp hair, walking over and giving her a
small kiss on the lips as if it were nothing.

"I fought with Jimin again," he replied listlessly, "he insists that you don't love me
and that made me sad, Taehyung," Jungkook looked at him with pity, "because
it's a lie, isn't it, Taehyung?" You still love me despite everything.
Taehyung watched him, stunned by the situation they were in, confused as well,
barely understanding what was happening, but when he read the need in
Jungkook's beautiful eyes, he answered, without a doubt:

—Of course you do, Jungkookie.

Jungkook smiled at him, giving him another kiss.

-Lets go to bed. It's been a long day for both of us, hasn't it? —Jungkook took her
hand—. Oh, how was it for you?

"Good," his voice sounded satisfied, looking at their intertwined fingers as they
walked towards the bed. I closed the deal and the investors left satisfied.

Jungkook nodded, proud.

"Congratulations, Taehyung," he said before taking off the sweater he was

wearing.

Taehyung wanted to say something to him, however, before he could do so,

Jungkook gave him a kiss that was now much deeper and sweeter, somewhat
needy, and his hands moved over his husband's body, his fingers caressing skin
after skin.
Thus, in the middle of the darkness, only the sound of the rain outside, they both
made love between kisses full of confused and sad feelings that could not be
expressed.
The next morning, all things went wrong for Taehyung.

Starting with the fact that he fell asleep and had to run out of the house to work,
saying goodbye to Jungkook without talking about what happened that night.
Then, he got stuck in a traffic jam, and to top off his bad start to the day, when he
arrived, his secretary spilled her cup of coffee on his white shirt.

What ended that bad day was when lunchtime arrived and he realized that he left
his lunch at home, so he had to leave for the company dining room, muttering
because of his bad mood.

Although that bad mood disappeared a little when his thoughts returned to what
happened the night before, the kisses shared, the touches on the other's body,
the gasps against his neck, Jungkook's eyes full of love on him at all times.

It had felt strange to make love to Jungkook after so long, but above all, to do it
so suddenly, but it didn't take much importance for the moment.

Not until Yoongi approached.

—Hey, Taehyung, how was yesterday? —His best friend asked, sitting next to
him—“I was looking for you but I couldn't find it,” he added, pouting.

He frowned.
"I managed to close the deal," he answered proudly, "why did you need me?"

Yoon began to rummage through his suitcase, pulling out a small box wrapped in
wrapping paper.

His frown increased.

"Yesterday I called Jungkook and promised him a gift, so I told him I would send
it to him with you," Yoongi responded, "I hope you had a good time last night,
Jungkook sounded very excited when I spoke to him."

Something unpleasant began to spread through his stomach, feeling confusion -

and a sickly, rotten feeling - settle inside him.

—What are you talking about, Yoongi? he asked, and his voice sounded
mechanical, lifeless.

Yoon pursed his lips.

"Jungkook's birthday," she answered as if it were obvious, and she could notice
how her expression suddenly changed, becoming surprised and horrified,
"because yesterday was his birthday, Taehyung, you remembered, right?"

His birthday.
Jungkook was turning twenty-nine.

He stood up abruptly, ignoring Yoongi's stammering words, his hand clenching

the gift, and with inexplicable speed, he left the dining room.
Jungkook's birthday.

His fucking fucking birthday.

He remembered her soaked body, her hair stuck to her face, her swollen and red
eyes, her absent expression when she entered the apartment. Her voice
trembled when they made love, murmuring to him that she loved him, that she
loved him in an inexplicable way, and that she would always love him despite
everything.

He remembered all those birthdays when they agreed to meet in that old
restaurant without talking about it first, because it had become an agreed deal
between them; Every Jungkook and Taehyung birthday, at eight in the afternoon,
they were going to get together in that place to have a private evening, without
anyone else, just the two of them.

His shaking hand dialed Jungkook's office, but no one answered.

He got into the car, closing the door abruptly, and not caring if he had a meeting
to attend later, if he had any deal to fulfill, he left for the apartment as quickly as
he could, feeling his cheeks wet when he remembered Jungkook's sweet smile
that morning. , the deep kiss he gave her when saying goodbye, and the words
he addressed to her.

Have a good day, Taehyung. I love you, bye.

And he hadn't noticed that goodbye , when Jungkook always said goodbye when
he said goodbye .

He had never said goodbye to her in all those years they were together.

He parked his car outside the building, stumbling out, running to the apartment,
ignoring the concierge's confused question.

His trembling hand fitted the key into the lock, turning it, and without stopping to
look at anything, he ran to the master bedroom.

She let out a sobbing gasp when she saw the open closet, and through tears, she
began to rummage through all the clothes, noticing that only her clothes were
carefully stored in the dresser.

Jungkook's toiletries weren't in the bathroom either.

She staggered, desperate, dialing her husband's number again, but there was no
answer.

Then, when she entered the dining room, she saw him.
With his heart breaking into hundreds of pieces, his soul on his feet, his mouth
letting out low sobs and tears falling down his face, Kim Taehyung saw the
signed divorce papers on the dining room table.

Warnings : Taekook, drama, crack couples .

Jungkook had arrived ten minutes before eight at night, humming quietly as he
took off his coat and hung it behind his chair. He greeted the restaurant owner,
Mr. Choi, who returned the greeting with a sweet smile, and Jungkook looked at
the menu with disinterest, thinking about what he could eat that day with
Taehyung.
He was already a little hungry, so he ordered a glass of wine along with some
appetizers to make the wait more enjoyable, and he started playing with his cell
phone, reading the congratulatory messages from his closest friends, his family,
and some parents. of his little patients.
At a quarter past eight, he sighed because he realized that Taehyung was late,
and it wasn't the first time, so he gestured to the old waiter there, greeting him
happily while ordering sweet potato japchae and noodles because Taehyung
liked him. I loved eating that, they always started with that dish before eating
something deeper! Plus, so the japchae would be ready for when Taehyung
arrived.

At eight thirty, she frowned, looking at her phone, debating whether to dial
Taehyung's number or not, but she decided against it because surely her
husband had only gotten more late than ever, right?

A quarter to nine at night, his foot began to move erratically on the floor, an old
nervous tic that he could never get rid of.

At nine o'clock at night, the japchae was in front of him, and Yoo, the waiter,
asked him if he would like anything else. Jungkook shook his head, gulping as he
could feel some eyes on him.

His finger, again, slid over Taehyung's number, wanting to dial to ask him where
he was, but there was a part of him that didn't want to hear it because he was
afraid of the answer.
Taehyung couldn't have forgotten his birthday, right?

At nine thirty, Jungkook had to take out the first napkin to wipe his wet eyes.

At ten at night, Jungkook locked himself in the restaurant's bathroom, hiding his
face between his legs as he completely collapsed, feeling the cry stuck in his
throat finally come out.

At a quarter past ten, he sat down again and asked for the bill, pretending not to
see Mr. Choi's look of pity and pity.

Five minutes later, he was walking out into a pouring rain that completely soaked
his hair and clothes, but he couldn't care less, because there was a numbness in
his body that he couldn't explain. Which he couldn't process well due to the crying
escaping his mouth.

So he started walking in the rain, without even thinking a little about taking a taxi
to take him outside the apartment since he didn't want to get there so soon.
He didn't want to open the door, walk into those cold rooms and try to convince
himself that it didn't matter that Taehyung had forgotten his birthday, he still loved
him.

He still loved him, although that was nothing more than a silly, stupid, pathetic lie
that he repeated every day because facing the harsh reality was something that
broke his heart into thousands of pieces.

But he couldn't deny it anymore. He couldn't continue lying to himself like that
because if he continued acting like that, the only thing he was going to do was
end up broken and hurt and with such a huge void in his heart that he wouldn't be
able to repair it for a long, long time.
His story with Taehyung was over, it had come to an end, it was a fact.

And even if she still loved him, she couldn't do anything, just resign herself to
signing those papers, granting him a divorce and then wishing Taehyung the best
even though he felt miserable and humiliated for losing who he considered the
love of his life.

He leaned against the wall, sobbing.

It hurt so, so much...

And everyone had told him, warned him, that in the end it would only be worse,
but Jungkook didn't want to see it, he tried to deny it because he loved Taehyung
too much and things like pride, like dignity, weren't worth it to him. He did manage
to make Taehyung love him again like before.

Having Taehyung's love, for Jungkook, was a thousand times more beautiful than
preserving a dignity that, in the end, would bring him nothing more than a brief
satisfying moment.

He wiped his eyes, forcing himself to stop crying, because now he just had to
accept the consequences of his actions and accept that everything was over, that
there were no more Taehyung and Jungkook, that it was time to move forward
even if he only wanted to go back. , to that time where Taehyung smiled at him
with total love and murmured in his ear how much he loved him.

But that time was not going to return again, of course not.
Twenty minutes later he was walking into the apartment, thinking about his
soaked clothes, and found himself facing Taehyung, who looked briefly lost
before him.

There was a small moment in which she imagined Taehyung approaching, asking
for forgiveness for standing him up and then telling him that she loved him, that
she wanted to continue her entire life in front of him, however, that image
disappeared when her husband spoke:
-Jungkook? Baby? -Taehyung asked stunned.

No, Taehyung still didn't remember.

That hurt a little more because years ago Taehyung would never have forgotten
despite his volatile memory. But Kim Taehyung used to remember the most
important and meaningful dates for him, and that he forgot, that he didn't know
what day it was...

It was pretty clear what it meant to Jungkook.

-Oh, what's wrong?

And Jungkook was a coward, because he didn't feel capable of breaking down in
front of Taehyung.
But also, a part of him didn't want to tell Taehyung the truth as a form of
punishment towards his husband, because Jungkook knew him better than
anyone, and he knew that if he started crying and told him what was happening,
Taehyung would feel bad. , he would feel guilty, and ask for forgiveness.

Jungkook didn't want his pity, he wanted him to realize it only when he wasn't in
front of him.
"Nothing," Taehyung approached, "just... where were you?"

He took his time to respond, thinking of some white lie, and that invitation that
Jimin made him came to mind.

"I was eating at Jimin and Namjoon's house, I was late, I'm so sorry," then he
added as if nothing had happened. Did you just arrive too?

-Yes, the deal with the Japanese investors was quite extended -there was a brief
moment of pause-. Jungkook why did you cry?

Of course, his eyes.

His silly swollen watery eyes.

A feeling of tiredness spread through his body, of exhaustion from the whole
situation he was going through, and he felt like curling up next to Taehyung,
crying into his chest, telling him how much he loved him, and staying there all
day.

So, Jungkook allowed himself to be weak once again.

-I fought with Jimin again, he insists that you don't love me and that made me
sad, Taehyung - his eyes blinked, getting teary -, because it's a lie, isn't it,
Taehyung? You still love me despite everything.

Lie to me, lie to me, please, Taehyung, I'm begging you.

Hurt me one more time, I don't care, but if it makes me happy for a moment, I will
gladly accept it.

-Of course you do, Jungkookie.

His lips curved into an honest smile and then he gently kissed Taehyung.

-Lets go to bed. It's been a long day for both of us, hasn't it? -she looked at him,
her hand squeezing his-. Oh, anyway, how did it go?

-Good. I closed the deal and the investors left satisfied.

Taehyung was so smart, so cunning and beautiful.

"Congratulations, Taehyung," he said and then kissed Taehyung once more, and
their clothes soon fell to the floor, both bodies meeting that night one last time.

In how many ways did he love Taehyung?

Jungkook didn't know exactly, so

who, many times, tried to tell them.

Jungkook loved the way Taehyung laughed, his lips parting, showing his straight
teeth, forming a square-like smile, his eyes closing as little wrinkles formed at the
corners that he could admire all day if it meant having Taehyung laughing next to
him.

Jungkook loved when Taehyung sat in front of a piano, his face expressionless,
although his eyes reflected a devoted and absolute love for the instrument that
his husband's late mother taught him to play, letting the passion fill him and play
songs. capable of making him cry because there were a lot of sensations that
invaded him when his husband played.
Jungkook loved Taehyung's calloused but also soft hands, the way his long
fingers caressed his face in the middle of a kiss, when they grabbed his waist and
held him when they made love, the moment in which his hands They touched him
as if he were something fragile and easy to break.
Jungkook loved the nights they used to make love, the way they looked at each
other, as if they were in their own world, in their personal bubble, and no one
could interrupt them, no one could enter that little place they had, touching each
other. with total and absolute devotion, with so much love, that sometimes words
were not necessary to be able to really tell each other what he felt for the other.

Taehyung always murmured thanks to Jungkook for teaching him to love him and
showing him that they were meant for each other, but the reality was that it was
Taehyung who showed Jungkook that they belonged together.

It was Taehyung who saved Jungkook.

The next morning, Jungkook woke up when Taehyung was packing his briefcase
to go to work.

Wrapped in a robe, he approached Taehyung and smiling, kissed him on the lips,
feeling how he told him

a thousand things with that gesture.

"Have a good day, Taehyung," she murmured, looking into his beautiful dark
eyes. I love you, bye.
Taehyugn nodded, somewhat urgently because he was late, and gave her
another kiss.

-See you, Jungkookie.

And when he left, left alone in that apartment, Jungkook cried again.

An hour later, Jungkook was finishing packing his suitcase with everything he
needed to leave there, unable to face Taehyung directly, and before leaving the
apartment, he looked for the copy of the divorce papers that his husband had left
stored for weeks. back.
With his hands shaking, without reading what was necessary, and observing
Taehyung's signature, Jungkook signed in the space that corresponded to him
and then left them on the dining room table, leaving without looking back.

He also didn't look back when he took a taxi, because if he did, Jungkook was
never going to leave there, finally.

Warnings: Vkook, drama, crack couples.

Jimin was actually kind of irritating as he fixed his shirt and wiped the saliva from
the corner of his mouth, walking towards the front door as Namjoon pursed his
lips, hiking up the fly of his pants.

It was their first fucking day of vacation and they really wanted to have some time
with their bunny, why the fuck were they interrupting them right now?

-I'm coming! Jimin screamed when there was another loud knock on the door.
Fool...

His complaint was cut short when he opened it and suddenly a deplorable
Taehyung grabbed him by the lapels of his shirt, pushing him against the wall.

"Jungkook," he muttered in a growl, "Where the fuck is Jungkook?"

Jimin blinked in both surprise and confusion, his head hurting slightly from hitting
the wall, and then making a new one of annoyance.

—What do I know, idiot? —he asked abruptly, wanting to break free.

However, even if it didn't seem like it because of his soft nature, Taehyung could
really get aggressive and wild if he was upset or desperate.
Taehyung let him go, pushing him, and without saying anything else he went
inside the house.

—What the fuck, Taehyung?! —He heard Namjoon shout.

—Jungkook! —Taehyung shouted, ignoring him. Jungkookie, where are you?!

There was no answer.

Jimin re-entered the dining room, irritated, angry and disgusted by the situation,
not really understanding what Taehyung was doing in his house, looking for
Jungkook. Had they fought?

What a fucking novelty.

Jimin didn't really find anything new about the fact that they fought, because
those last few months he had gotten used to seeing them argue over every little
thing, he got used to being the shoulder where Jungkook sobbed because his
marriage was ruining and he didn't know how to rescue him.

Jimin had never fully liked Taehyung for Jungkook. He didn't come to hate him
like he did last time, he just didn't quite convince him.
to spend the rest of his life with his best friend. Maybe it was because, as
Jungkook's best friend throughout his life, he didn't consider anyone too good to
be around someone who always smiled at everything in life, whether good or
bad.

No, and Taehyung was completely moving away from what he considered
Jungkook's ideal prospect.

Taehyung was... He was someone too... Well, how to say it?

Taehyung complemented Jungkook. Taehyung was calm where Jungkook was a

mess. Taehyung always seemed to activate when Jungkook was by his side.
Taehyung seemed to understand Jungkook in a strange way when the rest didn't.

However, there was something that Taehyung did not perceive about Jungkook,
something that Jimin considered much more fundamental than anything in life,
and that was that Jungkook loved in a way so deep, so painful, that if one was
not willing to give everything for Jungkook, then he didn't deserve it either. This
way of loving also caused Jungkook to work twice as hard, triple, quadruple,
quintuple, as necessary, to save something that he considered fundamental in his
life.
On the other hand, for Taehyung, if things didn't work out, you simply had to end
it to avoid damage.
Frowning, Jimin took out his cell phone while Namjoon looked at him as if asking
for an explanation, but ignoring his boyfriend, he dialed his best friend's number.

The number you dialed is turned off or temporarily out of the service area, after
the ring you can leave...

“Hey, Kookie,” Jimin murmured with his stomach clenched, “when you hear this,
please call me.” I love you, ray of sunshine.

He turned around the moment Taehyung re-entered, and Jimin noticed his red
eyes, his waterlogged cheeks, traces of crying on his pale skin, whiter than
normal. Even his hair was soaked with the light drizzle that day, and for a brief,
very brief moment, Jimin felt sorry for Taehyung at seeing him so lost. He even
looked scared, terrified, like a little child.

But it was a brief moment, until he saw the half-damp papers that Taehyung was
holding in his hand.

—Are they divorce papers? —Namjoon asked, standing up.

Taehyung watched him.

"Where is Jungkook," he repeated.
It was not a question. It was a demand.

Jimin hardened his gaze.

"If you're looking for him to sign your fucking papers..." he began to say, but fell
silent when Taehyung interrupted him with a broken voice:

"No, he already signed them," he sobbed, his eyes becoming glassy again, "he
signed them and disappeared." He took a breath, desperate. I need to find him, I
need to tell him that... that I love him, that I need him, that I never want to be
separated from him again, I need to apologize for being an idiot and make him
cry, I need...

"Taehyung," Namjoon's voice sounded strange, "what the hell did you do?"

And Jimin noticed it, then: Jungkook had disappeared without saying anything.

If it had been a normal fight, Jungkook would have gone to tell him to vent, after
all, it was what he always did. But now Jungkook didn't even call him, he just
seemed to disappear as quickly as he could, not wanting to talk to anyone, and
his stomach hurt at the thought that if he did that, it was because he was hurt and
upset and a mess, not wanting him. no one saw it.
Not wanting to get close to Jimin to earn an I told you so .
And he had signed the papers. If Jungkook signed the papers, if he left without
saying anything, it means that he had given up, that he had already given his all
and could not continue giving more to a person who did not want that more.

Jungkook signed the papers because his heart was finally broken into thousands
of pieces, it was because he realized that continuing to hope for that was hurting
him too much and Taehyung didn't deserve that from him.

"They're not interested," Taehyung murmured without looking at them.

Jimin made a noise of anger, his lips turned into a rictus of annoyance, and
without being able to avoid it, before Namjoon held him, he took a few steps and
pushed Taehyung, giving him a blow on the cheek that echoed in the dining
room.

"What the fuck did you do, you bastard?!" —he shouted, wanting to hit him again,
but Namjoon acted and held him by the waist, pulling him back.

Taehyung opened his mouth, but then Jimin's cell phone rang.

Jimin looked at the number.

—Is it Jungkook? —Taehyung asked with hope in his voice.

-Fuck off! Jimin snapped. Get out of my house!

The cell phone kept ringing.

"Jiminnie," Jimin fell silent when he noticed Taehyung's pleading, defeated tone,
"please, please, let me hear it." "Let me tell me where it is." He took another step,
his voice breaking. I promise to fix it. I promise to make you smile like before. But
please let me hear it.

Jimin looked at Namjoon, surprised, because it must have been the first time they
had heard Taehyung beg for something.

Sighing, Jimin answered and put it on speaker.

—Jungkookie? —he asked in an unsure tone.

There were a few seconds of silence.

"Hello, Mochi..." Jungkook greeted in a broken tone, "how are you?"

Jimin wanted to burst into tears.

"That doesn't matter baby," Jimin murmured, "Where are you?"

A bitter, humiliated laugh was heard.

"You were right," Jungkook sobbed, "why do I never listen to you?" "You were
damn right," she didn't say anything, listening to him cry on the other end of the
line. Taehyung didn't... didn't deserve a... a second chance, you... you told me...

"Baby, baby, that doesn't matter," Jimin said quickly, breathing quickly, "please,
where are you?" Namjoon and I are worried about you.

"Taehyung surely came to your house to ask me for... an explanation for the
papers," Jungkook whispered in a dead voice, "but I... I can't face it, Jiminnie, I
love him so much that... what if I see him while I accept your... your divorce, I'm
going to... I'm going to cry... I'm going to cry like a baby... —a new sad laugh—.
Now I'm... I'm crying so much... Ah, but Taehyung must be happy, right? She can
be with Hoseok...

A new whine on the other end of the line.

Jimin didn't know what to say, he was crying too.

Jungkook sounded hopeless, Jimin had never heard him cry like that, and he
didn't know what to do to try to comfort him, to try to make him feel a little better.

Taehyung, in front of him, was also crying, and Jimin felt strange because he had
never seen him cry.

"Come with me," Jimin murmured, "please, Jungkookie..."

"No, no," Jungkook took a breath, "now I'm... I'm at Seokjin's house, I, uh..." I
didn't know where to go and... —his voice broke again—. I need... I need to go,
Jiminnie, I can't stay here, I need... I need to mend my heart and... And it hurts so
much, Jimin...

—Jungkookie...

"He forgot," Jungkook suddenly moaned, shutting him up, and now he could feel
that Jungkook was crying his eyes out, without holding back, "he forgot my... my
birthday, Jiminnie..."

-That? —Jimin looked at Taehyung who had a guilty expression at that moment.
"He... he stood me up..." Jungkook stammered, "I... I waited for him for... for more
than two hours, and he... he didn't come, Jiminnie..." He... He doesn't love me
anymore, doesn't he?

—I'm going to kill him, Jungkook, I'm going to kill him, I promise you.

There was a breathy laugh, however, it didn't make him feel any better.

"I need... I need to go..." Jungkook mumbled, "I just... I just wanted to tell you,
baby Mochi..."

—But Jungkook...
-I'll call you later.

He cut the call.

“Jimin, please, honey…” Namjoon started to say when Jimin stood up.

"You're a fucking son of a bitch!" —Jimin shouted, ignoring his boyfriend, who
had to hold him by the waist again—. His damn birthday! How the fuck can you
forget his fucking birthday, you bastard!? You don't know how happy I was! I'm
going to kill you, you idiot, I promise!

"I'll fix it..." Taehyung murmured, stepping back before Jimin let go, "I'll fix it, I
promise..."

He left the house, calling the hospital, asking to be put in touch with Jungkook's
secretary.

I already knew where I was, now I just had to beg for a forgiveness I didn't
deserve.
Changmin was sitting on the floor, playing with some racing cars, and the boy
looked at him, blinking innocently.

—Why are you crazy , Uncle Kookie? —Changmin asked with pity in his voice.
Jungkook forced himself to smile despite feeling heartbroken, even though he felt
like a part of him was dying from everything that had happened in the last twenty-
four hours. There were too many emotions that he couldn't control and they were
wearing him down to the max.

"It's just that I hurt myself and it hurts, Changmin," she said, ruffling his hair.

Changmin frowned.

—Where do you give it ? —he asked, standing up.

Jungkook caressed her cheek, squeezing it tenderly.

"Here, Changmin," he murmured, bringing the child's little hand to his heart, "they
broke my heart, baby."

Changmin began to rub his hand against his chest, sighing.

—Sana sana little wool tail, if it doesn't heal today, it'll heal tomorrow —
Changmin murmured in a dedicated tone. Meoooooool , Uncle Kookie? —asked
the boy.

Jungkook laughed, feeling his eyes fill with tears again.

"Yes, Changmin, it feels better now," he ruffled Changmin's hair, the boy putting
on a satisfied expression to go back to playing.

Jungkook turned around, looking out the window at the drizzle that day, sighing
why he didn't know what exactly he was doing there. Going to Jin's house felt
natural at the time, desperate for the situation he was in, eager to find a helping
hand who wouldn't judge him or know the whole story behind his desperate love
for Taehyung.

Jin, of course, did not hesitate to receive him at his house, although he had
apologized because he could not attend to him because he had to go drop
Changmin off at daycare while he went to work. But that didn't matter to
Jungkook, just having a space where Taehyung wouldn't find him when he
discovered the signed divorce letter was enough, although he didn't know if
Taehyung would come looking for him.

After all, hadn't he gotten what he wanted all along?

Yes, Taehyung must be satisfied now, doing his paperwork while thinking about
the life he would share with Hoseok from now on once it was done.

And he would have to assume that everything was over, that he was now alone,
that the man he loved had left him, and he knew that it would hurt at first, that it
would be difficult, that this wound would take time to heal (and may never heal
completely), but it was the price to pay to make Taehyung happy.
He looked at the plane ticket on the desk, a plane that would leave for Osaka,
Japan, in two days, on a trip where it would seek to get away from all the damage
to be repaired again.

At four in the afternoon he went looking for Changmin at daycare, and Jin had
told him that he would arrive in an hour, so he was there, playing with his friend's
son to try to clear his head a little.

She didn't want to keep crying, not when her head hurt so much and her eyes
were so swollen and red.

The house bell rang.

He sighed, standing up.

"Stay here, Changmin, I'll go see who it is," he said, passing by him.

"It's Ben, Uncle Kookie," the boy agreed without leaving his track of cars.

He walked towards the entrance, thinking that it must be some neighbor who
needed Jin, and opened the door.
He met Taehyung's eyes.
He opened his mouth, surprised, his hand Trướ c Sau

moving to close the door, but before he could do so, he was suddenly being
pushed, Taehyung's desperate hands grabbing his cheeks and pulling him into a
desperate, fierce kiss, full of feelings and pain.

He gasped against Taehyung's mouth, stunned, his eyes watering as well, and
began to sob without understanding what was happening.

"Don't go," Taehyung cried against his shoulder, without letting go, "I don't want a
divorce, Kook-ah, please don't go," he took a breath, his cheeks wet. I'm sorry,
I'm so sorry, my love, please forgive me, I beg you, please...

"Taehyung..." Jungkook gasped without looking at him, "go away, please."

"No, no, no..." Taehyung snuggled closer to him, still crying, "forgive me, I'm
sorry, I know I'm an idiot, an imbecile, I know I don't deserve your love or
anything that comes from you, I have never deserved you, I am clear about it, but
please, Jungkook, I beg you, please, don't leave me, I can't live without you, I
can't, I promise you...

He remained silent, without moving, while his shirt was damp with Taehyung's
tears, unable to look down, because he knew that if he did, that if he saw him cry,
he would forgive him for everything in the world.
"Y-you love Hoseok," he stammered, his voice shaking, "I've... I've assumed it,
Taehyung..."

-No! No no no! —Taehyung shouted without letting go—. It's not like that,
Jungkookie, I promise! "I don't love him, I love you, no one else, I understand
now." Taehyung tried to kiss him again, but Jungkook shook his head, sobbing.
I'm a fool, I'm stupid, I know, Kook-ah, because I understood it only now that I've
lost you, but please, please, don't leave me... I love you, I love you, I love you,
you are my soul mate, you are my drummer, you are my hope, you are my
sunshine, you are the most beautiful thing I have, please forgive this shitty
person, I beg you, little prince , I'm so sorry... I know you still love me, I-

"I don't love you anymore," Jungkook whispered without looking at him, "I don't
love you, Taehyung..."

"No," Taehyung cried harder, desperate, "don't say it..."

"I don't love you," Jungkook repeated, hiccuping.

Taehyung took a shaky breath and spoke again, looking him in the eyes.

"Kook-ah." His voice was broken and he tried to smile, although his lips trembled
so hard that he didn't know if he managed it. Thirty days, Kookie.

Jungkook blinked, shaking his head, and looked at him silently.

Final chapter.
─W-good morning... My-my no-name is Jeon Jung-Jungkook, please-take care
of me!

Following his words there was a tense silence in the classroom as the poor boy's
cheeks turned red with embarrassment.
Then, the laughter began.

Jungkook had to hold back the tears from his eyes as the teacher told them to be
quiet, sending him to sit in the only empty seat, next to a boy with black hair and
a sleepy, serious, almost bored appearance there.

He bit his lower lip, walking around the room, forcing himself to ignore the
mocking laughter, and then sat down next to the boy, who barely glanced at him.

"H-Hello..." he greeted in a muffled tone.

Kim Taehyung watched him without changing his expression, raising an eyebrow
and then looking straight ahead again, ignoring the boy with braces and chubby
cheeks next to him.

Jungkook knew that this would be a difficult school year.

Why are you trying to push me away?

Tell me,

You're not being honest, I can tell.

Why do you keep pushing me away?

I can feel everything.

Why do not you tell me anything?

The teasing didn't stop that day, of course.

At first they had only been words laughing at his braces, at his cheeks, at his
ears that peeked out of the hats that he wore and his mother lovingly knitted for
him, at his elongated teeth similar to those of a bunny, at his eyes, of everything.
It hurt, of course, but he could handle it, he could pretend it wasn't a big deal and
believe that sooner or later they would get bored.

Three weeks later, the pushing began.

When I had to go get an exam, when I had to go to the blackboard, when they
left class...

Strong pushes that unbalanced him followed by malicious laughter.

One day, they pushed him so hard that he fell to the ground, his palms scraping,
his notebooks scattering, and he knew they were going to hit him, he knew that
now the beatings would begin.
─Hey, idiots, what the fuck are you doing?

Pale hands grabbed his shoulders and pulled him to his feet, meeting Kim
Taehyung's angry face.

─Do you like the new one, Kim? ─one of the aggressors mocked although he
looked angry.

─Either leave him alone, or I will cut your throats with my knife, idiots.
Of course, that caused everyone to run away.

Jungkook trembled as Taehyung looked back at him.

“Your notebooks,” Taehyung growled, releasing him.

Jungkook was startled.

─Do... do you-do you really have a knife...? ─he stammered on the verge of
crying.
Why were they all crazy there?

Taehyung blinked.

─Of course not, idiot.

Then, Jungkook started to laugh sheepishly.

Kim Taehyung looked at him strangely, then released his shoulders.

"Um..." Jungkook stirred, wanting to continue talking to that boy who was his co-
worker. Th-thank you... hyung...
Jungkook knew that Taehyung was older than him, he had heard that Taehyung
was repeating the course after failing for, according to what everyone said,
threatening a teacher.

Jungkook was really scared of that boy, but so far he had been the only one to
defend him.
Truth be told, Taehyung repeated because he missed classes a lot since he
used to fall asleep and when he woke up he decided that it wasn't worth
attending school.

“You should hit them,” Taehyung said in a flat tone. If you keep letting them walk
over you, they're never going to stop.

Jungkook would normally have nodded, stupid and cowardly, that's why he was
surprised when he ended up answering in a somewhat shaky tone:

─Then you should teach me how to hit, hyung.

T aehyung watched him with a frown.

"Don't be an idiot," he scolded, turning to leave there.

Jungkook, however, did not hesitate to follow him.

Jungkook never hesitated to follow him.

─Hyung! Jungkook shouted, smiling. Hyung...

Tell me, why do you still love me?

Because you love me?

You know you shouldn't love me.

Yes, you still love me, oh,

Why do you need me when you know you don't need me?

Taehyung realized that he loved Jungkook a year later, when

Jungkook stopped following him everywhere like the puppy he was, tired of
chasing him when he only received scant responses from his hyung, as if he
were tired of being chased.
─Hyung, I invite him to the movies!

─I don't feel like it.

─Are we going to eat something at McDonald's, hyung?

─I'll get to sleep, Jungkook.

─What if we go out to a party, hyung?

─Don't mess around.

Little by little, Jungkook's invitations became more and more sporadic, with less
enthusiasm, more shy and hesitant, and Taehyung did not notice it until a new
boy arrived at the course named Chae Hyungwon, as shy as Jungkook that they
both seemed to get along. right away.

At first everything seemed to follow its normal course, where Jungkook dragged
Chae with him and they sat together in the dining room at lunchtime, but then,
suddenly, Taehyung felt the absence of Jungkook when he looked up and saw
him talking to him. his new friend, ignoring him, still smiling.

When they were leaving school and the two boys were walking together, saying
goodbye to him without looking at him.

When Taehyung called him one afternoon to take Guleum and Yeontan for a
walk together like they did months ago, and Jungkook answered hours later,
apologizing because he was dancing with Hyungwon and didn't hear his phone.

─Hey, Jungkookie, shall we do the work together?

─Hyung, I already agreed with Hyungwonie.

─I invite you to see DiCaprio's new movie, Kookie.

─Oh, but I already saw her with Chae, I'm sorry hyung.

─Shall we go to my house later, Kookook?

─I'll go to lunch with Hyungwon, hyung will be next time!

Taehuyng really wanted to kill that boy.
Come here, I missed you,

How was your day?

Okay, you did good.

What happened?

Why do you avoid me?

Look at me,

I know you have something to say.

"I don't understand," Yoongi said after Taehyung had finished telling him
everything, "are you jealous that the boy you complained about so much no
longer follows you?"

─I'm not jealous! Taehyung growled, kicking the wall and then cursing as the
pain ran through his foot. It only bothers me that Jungkook breaks his promise!
He said he was always going to haunt me!

"It's normal." Yoongi was frowning. Anyone would get bored of trying to be your
friend, Taehyung, because you don't say anything nice at first.

"You don't know him," Taehyung complained, "Jungkookie is loud and clingy all
the time, he likes to hug me and stroke my hair like I'm a fucking cat, and when I
tell him to let go of me he starts crying." Jesus, I think he is the cryiest boy I have
ever met, and when he cries I feel bad so I have to say something nice to him.
He has an adorable silly expression when he gets angry, Yoon, you couldn't say
no to him either! And he does aegyo and that makes me sick, very sick! But it's
cute somehow too...

“Taehyung,” Yoongi interrupted between mad laughter, “are you listening to

yourself?” That boy wows you!
Taehyung blinked in disbelief and then punched his best friend in the back of the
head, causing him to groan loudly.

“I knew you were stupid, but I didn't think you were that stupid,” Taehyung said
irritably.

Yoongi snorted, crossing his arms, rolling his eyes, then stood up.

"Look, you appreciate Jungkook and you want him as a friend," said his best
friend, taking his backpack, "but if you don't tell him, then you're going to lose
him." There's no point in feeling something if in the end you stay silent or don't
show it to them, Taehyung.

After that Yoongi left claiming that he had things to study and Taehyung lay down
on his bed, sighing, covering his face with the silly pillow that Jungkook had
given him last year of Anpanman, and suddenly remembered that Jungkook's
birthday would be in one more week.

His mind began to plot the perfect gift for the boy, something that would get his
attention back.
In my sad dreams,

I want to keep you

present,

Even if you say no

(Blue side...)

I will have you in my

eyes...

(... Back to the blue

side...)
To make sure that Jungkook would have some free time for him that day
Taehyung made sure to ask him days ago if he could accompany him home that
afternoon to return a sweatshirt that he left months ago, purposely ignoring his
birthday, seeing his sad face when He pretended not to know that that day was
special to him.

Jungkook was sulking the whole way, asking them to hurry up because he was
going out with that stupid Hyungwon later, and Taehyung promised to kick that
idiot's ass the other day.

While Jungkook went upstairs, stumbling in annoyance, Taehyung shifted

nervously and then sat down in front of the piano, his fingers itching with anxiety.

"Hey Jungkookie..." he called hesitantly.

─What's wrong, Hyung...?

Jungkook stayed quiet as Taehyung started playing the Happy Birthday tune on
the piano, not daring to look at him because he didn't want to see his expression,
because he was afraid he wouldn't like it, or he would stop him and say he had to
go with his new friend.

So when he finished, he started playing another tune, Rue des Cascades,

continued with L'absente, and when he got to Summer 78, he started crying.
He moistened his lips, trembling.
─Yes-he's still my friend... Jungkookie... ─he sputtered when he interrupted the
composition, without turning around.

When he didn't get a response, he feared that Jungkook had left, that he had
made a fool of himself by showing him that intimate part of him, but he sobbed
harder when the boy hugged him from behind, his perfume invading his nose, his
heart beating wildly. .

"You're so stupid, Taehyung hyung," Jungkook scolded, sobbing too, "how can
you think that I don't want to be your friend anymore?" I'm going to call Hyungwon
and stay with you for the rest of the afternoon! We could watch movies or play
video games or even a board game that...

Taehyung watched Jungkook continue to chatter in front of him as if nothing had

happened, and he realized, then, that with Jungkook he didn't need words,
because Jungkook could understand him in a way that no one could ever match.

Because no one was like Jungkook in life, he realized that afternoon.

Among so much shit, tell me,

Where were you?

─No.

Taehyung cried hard, refusing to let go of Jungkook, ignoring his words, ignoring
his surroundings.

Refusing to believe Jungkook's response.

─No, Taehyung.
How could Jungkook answer that, when Jungkook was the person who had loved
him unconditionally, the person who understood him like no one else in life, the
person with whom he had shared half of his existence?

It was impossible.

─Let go of me, Taehyung, please.

Taehyung never wanted to let go of him again in his life, but that didn't stop him
when Jungkook grabbed him by the shoulders, pulling him back, forcing him to
look back at him, and new tears fell again when he noticed the calm but
determined look of the youngest.

He understood, then, that there was nothing more to do, that he lost, that his
story with Jungkook had come to an end, that his last chance died because of his
inability to see beyond his own personal desires, his confusion, his your feelings
and heart.

And oh, it hurt so much, it hurt to see how the person he loved most slipped from
his hands, just as the water slipped through his fingers.

Is that how Jungkook felt when he asked for a divorce?

So he deserved to feel that, because if Jungkook had felt that way, then he had
no forgiveness from God for having been the person who caused him so much
harm.

─Don't you... don't you love me anymore...? ─he stammered in a last desperate
attempt to get Jungkook back.

A sad smile curved the lips of the person in front of him.

“You will always be in my heart, but not in my life anymore, Taehyung,” Jungkook
said softly.

Taehyung had never felt as miserable as he did in that moment, and he wanted
to hug Jungkook, beg him, ask him, humiliate himself, do something so that
things wouldn't end that way, so that Jungkook would smile at him and promise
that everything would be okay, that he would never. He was going to leave him,
that he would not abandon him at any time as they had promised five years ago
in front of the altar.

Although he would have been the first person to break that promise.

"B-but I love you..." he sobbed.

Jungkook stroked her hair, not losing that sweet expression on his face.
"I love you too Taehyung," Jungkook admitted, "but we are both hurt and broken
and we can't continue like this, because sooner or later we will end up like this
again, and that will make all of this hurt more." Jungkook grabbed his cheeks. .
We both need to repair ourselves, Taehyung.

“I need you,” Taehyung moaned, his lips trembling.

"No, you don't," Jungkook corrected, "just like I don't need you to be happy."
Jungkook wiped the tears from his eyes with his fingers calmly. "Our
relationship... Our love is broken, but we can still keep our affection for each
other alive before hate wins us.” Jungkook kissed her wet cheek, crying too. Let's
not let our attachment be broken, Taehyung. Let it remain between us, but for
that, we have to break our ties.

Taehyung nodded, wanting to cry again, but controlling himself enough not to
break down once again.

"If... if we meet again later..." Taehyung ventured hesitantly.

"Then let's see if we both have that red thread that people talk so much about,"
Jungkook conceded, hugging him.
And Taehyung felt, then, that this would be the last hug he would give Jungkook
in a long, long time, if not the last one it was.

So he hugged her back, holding on to those last sensations, to the feeling of

having the most important person in his life with him once again.

Jungkook pulled away, leaning down, and kissed him on the lips, short,
superficial, but for Taehyung it was enough to destroy him once again.

“I love you,” she cried, her throat tight, her stomach clenching at the inevitable
end, recoiling as her shoulders shook with tears.
"I love you too," Jungkook replied before closing the door.

And when the door closed, it was all over.

Epilogue.

According to a traditional Eastern belief, we are all born tied to a red thread, the
which connects us to the love of our lives. This thread can be stretched,
shortened,
bend and go around the world, but it never cuts. This beautiful way of
graph the destiny of our lives, explains to us how strong the powers are
of love Two people intertwined by destiny, whether it is called a red thread or
not,
They will always end up meeting and will remain linked forever.
Spring was coming when he entered the cafeteria with a tired expression,
sneezing into his scarf as he let out a low moan.

Even though it was sunny, there was still an icy wind that forced everyone to go
out warmly so as not to end up with a cold, and he was not going to be the
exception, because he had always had a somewhat delicate health system; On
the other hand, he couldn't get sick because he had to continue
working, he didn't like leaving his things lying around for something as minor as a
cold.

I hated those first days of spring, when those days were a mixture of heat and
cold that were impossible to combat.

"What do you want, sir?" —asked the cashier.

"A vanilla cappuccino to go," he asked, holding out the bills to pay.

—We'll call you when you're ready, what's your name?

—Kim Taehyung.

The girl nodded and Taehyung walked to sit at the bar, looking out the window at
the street.

The day before, Bo Gum had sent him a message telling him that she couldn't
stay in a relationship with him anymore, so Taehyung was "officially" single again,
although if he was honest with everyone, it's not like there was either. They had a
deep relationship after their failed marriage five years ago.
Five years since the last time he saw Jungkook, crying at the door, closing it and
then there was only silence.

Once Jungkook left, Taehyung ended his relationship with Hoseok, who looked at
him with enormous coldness and contempt in his eyes, but Taehyung couldn't
care less, not when he felt lost and empty inside, like something wasn't right.
around it.

He had lived for more than thirteen years with Jungkook's constant presence at
his side, whether as a friend, boyfriend, or husband, and things without him felt
strange, painful, but above all, unknown.

After that, it didn't take long for him to go to the company manager's office,
presenting his letter of resignation and then selling the apartment where he had
lived with Jungkook for ten years, moving to a much smaller place, with a single
bed where he couldn't. He felt that constant loneliness that had invaded him the
last few days since Jungkook left without looking back, being hired weeks later in
a small furniture company, where no one knew him or would judge him.
Although that didn't stop him from bursting into tears when he was putting away
the boxes and found certain papers that Jungkook had abandoned: they were
those adoption papers that he never showed to Taehyung, because when he was
going to do it, the beginning of the end began.
Taehyung cried, desperate, reading the paperwork, remembering all those times
they talked about adopting, feeling more miserable than ever for not having
thought a little more about Jungkook's heart. Then, he put the papers at the
bottom of the drawer, promising himself that, one day, he would read them again.

In this way, he began a new and lonely life as a single man, although to be
honest, he never took off his wedding ring even though the divorce certificates
had already been signed, just as Jungkook had wanted.

There was a brief moment where he thought about not continuing with the
divorce, after all, Jungkook had left, how would he know that those procedures
were never carried out? That way, if Jungkook came back, he could insist on it
again, he could...

But that brief thought disappeared when, one day, while walking through the
park, he ran into that man Jungkook looked for when he forgot his birthday,
playing with his son in the park.

Jin hadn't seen him, too focused on taking care of his little son, and he thought
then that, one day, Jungkook might really find someone who would love him, a
person who would never do to him what he did to him, someone he would want to
be with. share the rest of their lives, and then Jungkook would want to get
married, discovering that the divorce never happened.
And Taehyung couldn't bear to see him come back to demand a separation,
seeking to share his life with another man other than him.
So he carried out all the procedures the next day, without the need for Jungkook
to be present because the papers were already signed.

Two years later, he had seen Hoseok from a distance, hanging out with another
worker from the company where he had worked, both men holding hands with
shopping bags, laughing, stuck in their own bubble. If he remembered correctly,
his name was Jaehwan.

He also lost contact with Jimin and Namjoon, which is normal, considering that
Jungkook's best friend tried to hit him with a stick when Jungkook left, only being
stopped by his boyfriend. He knew, because he also saw them sometimes (but
they ignored each other, tension blooming as soon as they got close), that they
were married now, and Sohyun had a four-year-old younger brother that they had
adopted, Kim Jungwoo.

Yoongi was another to marry, but contrary to what everyone expected, it had not
been with Jisoo (their relationship had ended months later), but with another girl
named Jung Wheein. They got married a few weeks ago, so at that moment they
were on their honeymoon, enjoying their new life together.

The only one who seemed to have remained stagnant was Taehyung, who was
never able to maintain another relationship for more than a few months, where
the main thing had always been the carnal and not the sentimental: no one
managed to cause that stir in his heart like another person did. Years ago, no one
could cause the words to come out of their mouth in some deep conversation that
would help feelings flourish, no one could cause a simple I love you to come out
of their throat, and everyone walked away because they could notice the distance
between them.

Taehyung wasn't holding them back, why would he? He was never able to force
his own feelings to feel something for people who were, sadly, indifferent to him.

For a long time, too, he thought about going back to look for Jungkook, but he
always discarded that thought when he remembered that if Jungkook had left it
was on his own, and if he wanted to come back he would also do so because of
his personal desire. He learned, as the days, the weeks, the months went by, that
Jungkook was right about his feelings: it was time to repair them, to build them
again, to not keep pushing, or they would have ended up broken, hating
themselves for not being able to. to feel what at first united them so strongly.

But that didn't mean he wouldn't miss him, because it was a lie if he said it: Kim
Taehyung still missed Jeon Jungkook a lot, as much as the first day he left.

“Kim Taehyung,” one of the girls serving at the bar called.

Taehyung stood up, sighing, taking the glass of cappuccino, leaving the store at a
hurried pace, thinking about the shopping he had to do that day for the week.
He had gone a block when he heard a distant scream, someone calling his name,
but he thought he was confused because who was going to call him to talk to
him?

No, only when a familiar voice called out to him, grabbing his shoulder, did he
stop.

—Taehyung, Taehyung, is that you?

Barely aware of himself he turned, meeting those tender, kind eyes he had loved
so much.

Jeon Jungkook watched him in front of him, smiling hugely, his dyed red hair
hidden under a wool cap.

—Jungkook? —he asked with a wavering voice.

—Taehyung! —Jungkook greeted without stopping smiling, hugging him

suddenly—. It's been a long time, don't you think?!

He nodded, though he knew Jungkook shouldn't have seen it, so he forced

himself to clear his throat.
"Yes, five years, to be exact..." he answered, wetting his lips.

—I called you in the cafeteria, but you didn't notice me! —Jungkook spoke with a
pout—. How have you been? Is it my idea, or have you grown a few centimeters?

Unable to help it, he snorted, rolling his eyes.

“Wow, you're so funny,” he growled wryly, causing Jungkook's smile to grow a
little wider. Good and you?

-Wonderfully well! —Jungkook answered enthusiastically.

Taehyung watched him silently, noticing his shiny hair, his smiling eyes, his
beautiful dimples, his smile showing his teeth. She could notice his skin was a
little darker, but healthy too, and she couldn't help but remember the last time she
saw him, all tearful and bent over, pale, haggard, broken.

Thinking about that caused an unremarkable shudder, because he couldn't help

but blame himself for destroying that beautiful person in front of him.

Jungkook was still talking to him, so he forced himself to listen to him:

—... I was traveling many places! A year ago I was in Inida, can you believe it?!
Then I decided to take a tour of Europe, I saw a lot of beautiful things! God, I
would have loved to take you with me!

You nodded, smiling, not being able to help but feel your stomach clench as
Jungkook's gaze softened.

"Are you passing through, then?" —Taehyung asked hesitantly.

He wanted to invite him to a café, to his small apartment, to the plaza, to some
place where they could talk calmly, where he could be by his side without anyone
bothering them, where he could tell him everything he couldn't say five years ago.

"Yes, I came to see my sister and mom," Jungkook answered, "next week I'll
leave to tour America, I'm already looking forward to it!"

He nodded again, his throat tightening as he tried to force the words out.

—Would you...uh...would you...want...? —Jungkook looked at him, inquisitive,

and wanted to become small, disappear from there—. You are happy?
At the last minute she couldn't help but change her question, feeling like crying
because Jungkook looked so happy, so satisfied, that she felt like he wasn't
needed in her life, not anymore.

After all, he had been the one responsible for breaking her heart, for breaking
her, for destroying her dreams.

How could he ask her for another chance when she behaved like that with
Jungkook?

The taller one, in front of him, looked a little disappointed.

"I am," Jungkook stated.

So it was fine. If Jungkook was happy, everything was fine.

“I'm happy for you,” Taehyung replied politely. I have to go now, Kookie, I have
things to do and...

"Don't worry," Jungkook agreed, stepping back, "I have to go back to the
cafeteria, I left Jiwoo's husband alone!" "Noona will kill me if she finds out about
that." Jungkook made to lean in for a kiss, but he seemed to think better of it
because he leaned back, his smile faltering. It was nice seeing you, hyung! Hope
you're well!
Taehyung nodded, forcing a smile.

—I hope you do too, Kook.

He turned around, taking a few steps, his soul falling at his feet as he forced
himself not to burst into tears as he walked, trying not to turn around to shout at
Jungkook that he loved him, that he shouldn't leave him, that he should forgive
him, but he knew that everything had happened. It had been said years ago that
Jungkook was now happy and that was the only thing that was enough.

What did he care about his own unhappiness if Jungkook finally managed to be
happy?

To no one, not even him.

Not even-

—Taehyung!

Jungkook turned her around, agitated, his cheeks red, and leaned in, giving her a
fleeting kiss on the cheek and then taking her free hand, feeling a small sheet of
paper against his skin.
He looked at him, lost, in love with those beautiful and sweet eyes.

"I left you my phone number," Jungkook stammered embarrassed, walking away,
without losing the blush on his face, "yes... if you want, tomorrow we can go out
for coffee and... and well..."

"I would love to," he said, and without being able to help it, he smiled too, his
teeth showing his gums, his eyes turning into two crescents.

Jungkook smiled back, waving his hand as he began to run.

—I'm waiting for your call, Tae hyung!

For the first time in his life, Kim Taehyung felt that those first days of spring were
not as bad as he had first thought.
