ANT
Ants are social insects that live in
structured nest communities. The species
determines their ant habitat – whether they
live underground, in mounds built at ground
level, in wood structures or in plants or
trees. Soil and plant matter are typically
used to construct the nests.
BEE
Bees are winged insects closely related to
wasps and ants, known for their roles in
pollination and, in the case of the best-
known bee species, the western honey bee,
for producing honey.
SNAIL
Snails can be found in a very wide
range of environments, including
ditches, deserts, and the abyssal depths
of the sea. Numerous kinds of snail can
also be found in fresh water.
LADYBUG
There are about 5,000 different species
of ladybugs in the world. There are
many different colors and patterns, but
the most familiar in North America is
the seven-spotted ladybug.
STARFISH
Starfish are marine invertebrates. It
have a central disc and usually five
arms, though some species have a
larger number of arms.
SPIDER
All spiders are predators, feeding
almost entirely on other arthropods,
especially insects. Some spiders are
active hunters that chase and
overpower their prey. These typically
have a well-developed sense of touch
or sight
JELLYFISH
Jellyfish are mainly free-swimming
marine animals with umbrella-shaped
bells and trailing tentacles. The
tentacles are armed with stinging cells
and may be used to capture prey and
defend against predators.
EARTHWORM
Typically only a few inches in length.
Earthworms’ bodies are made up of
ring-like segments called annuli.
These segments are covered in
setae, or small bristles, which the
worm uses to move and burrow.
CRICKET
Crickets are distributed all around
the world except at latitudes 55° or
higher. They occur in varied
habitats from grassland, bushes,
and forests to marshes, beaches,
and caves.
BUTTERFLY
Butterflies are winged insects
characterized by large, often brightly
coloured wings that often fold
together when at rest.Butterflies
have a four-stage life cycle,
OCTOPUS
Octopuses are sea animals famous
for their rounded bodies, bulging
eyes, and eight long arms. They
live in all the world’s oceans but
are especially abundant in warm,
tropical waters.
SHRIMP
Shrimp are characterized by a semi
transparent body flattened from
side to side and a flexible abdomen
terminating in a fanlike tail. The
appendages are modified for
swimming, and the antennae are
long and whiplike.
