ANSWER THE QUIZZES AND EXAMS. ONE BOND PAPER PER QUIZ/ EXAM.

TAKE A PICTURE OF YOUR ANSWERS, SUBMIT TO YOUR PRESIDENT (BOTH

SOFT COPY AND BOND PAPER) DEADLINE IS JULY 14, 2024. THANK YOU

QUIZ 1
1. What are the values of density, specific volume of a certain gasoline gas if it weigh
7 KN/m3 . Determine also the specific gravity of the gasoline relative to density of
water at 9.81 KN/m3 .
2. If 5.30 m3 of a certain oil weigh that weigh 43,860 N, calculate the specific weight,
density and specific gravity of the oil.

QUIZ 2
A differential manometer is connected at the two points A and B of two pipes as
shown in figure. The pipe A contains a liquid of sp.gr=1.5 while pipe B contains a
liquid sp.gr =0.9. The pressure at A and B are 1 kg f/cm2 and 1.8 kgf/cm2
respectively. Find the difference in mercury level in the differential manometer (Refer
to IM for figure)

MIDTERM EXAM
A simple U-tube below is open to the atmosphere at one end. (a) Compute the
pressure at Point A in psi absolute and psi gage considering the liquid at A is water
and the other liquid is mercury with a SG. = 13.5. Other data are as follows; ZA - Z2 =
3.0 inches; Z2 - Z1 = 3.0 inches. (b) What is the pressure between water and
mercury? (Refer to IM for figure)

QUIZ 3
A vertical triangle gate with water on one side is shown in figure. Determine the total
resultant force acting on the gate and the location of the center of pressure. (Refer to
IM for figure)

QUIZ 4
An inclined, cylindrical gate with water on one side is shown in figure. Determine the
total resultant force acting on the gate and the location of the center of pressure.
(Refer to IM for figure)

FINAL EXAM

1. The specific gravity of a rock used as a concrete aggregate is often desirable to know. If a
rock weighed 6.15N in the air and 3.30N when submerged in water, what would be the
specific gravity of the rock?

2. A piece of wood weighs 17.80N in air and a piece of metal weighs 17.80N in water.
Together the two weigh 13.35N in water. What is the specific gravity of the wood?
