I’m Madame Bonacieux! I work for the Queen.”

“Please, gentlemen, please!” cried the woman.
D’Artagnan thought that the police must be holding her and that she must be fighting back
against them.

“Run to get Athos, Porthos and Aramis – tell them to come quickly, with their swords.”
“Where are you going, sir?” asked Planchet.
But d’Artagnan was already climbing out of the window. He got down to the ground without even
cutting a finger and knocked at Monsieur Bonacieux’s front door. 4 The policemen could only
defend themselves with chairs and soon ran off, leaving d’Artagnan alone with Madame Bonacieux.
