STANDARD MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES – Rockwell PVP7 Password Configuration & Change

Make sure you are wearing proper PPE before beginning this Flash drive for downloads of firmware files
maintenance activity. Refer to plant and department specific
PPE requirements. Optional: Keyboard and Mouse
Lockout all stored energy sources in the work area using
proper procedure. Review lockout placard and follow plant
lockout procedures.

If you are unclear how to preform this task, ask your


supervisor.

While performing this PM, if you discover any problems that


are outside the scope of the work covered by this PM,
generate a work ticket to initiate the necessary repairs AND
report to your supervisor.

Note: If this PM is not accurate please document any


changes or additions that should be made and give them to
your supervisor.

Follow all Stellantis Guidelines and


ensure all power and Ethernet/IP SPARE PARTS
connections are fully seated and COMPONENT

If a Ser A PVP7 Performance unit,


proceed to Page 4, Step #1

This SMP will provide the following for


the PVP7 Performance Ser A terminal:
Allowing Desktop Access, including
setting and resetting of the desktop Ser A
password

Set Challenge Question: What is the & Response
abbreviated name for Controls and Robotics?
Set Challenge Response: VPECR_

3.) Setting a Desktop Password:

1. Press Set Password – The Desktop Access Set Password


Dialog Box opens

2. Press Set Password – Enter Stellantis Password,


then press Enter

Important You must correctly enter this password


before accessing the Desktop

3. Press Set Challenge to enter Stellantis Challenge Question,
That you must correctly respond to when resetting the
Desktop Password

4. Press Set Response to enter Stellantis Response,


To the Challenge Question, then press Enter

5. Press OK - The Desktop Access Management Dialog shows


that a Password and Challenge Question are set

6. Press OK to return to terminal settings

To clear and change the current password,


you must correctly respond to the
current challenge question. If you do not
remember the response, you must
restore the terminal to its factory defaults.

Start of Activity – Ser B

1.) Upon powerup, the PanelView Plus 7


Ser B will boot into the "Maintenance Menu”
window.

Exit this window by clicking “Exit


Maintenance Menu” at the top left

2.) From here, the panel will show Windows


performing it’s first Power Up with the
Rockwell Automation Logo

The terminal will load the “Welcome to


PanelView Plus” screen. Click Next at the
bottom right.

3.) Enter a device name unique for the


network, as well as the Administrator
Password:

Device Name: Follow Stellantis


Specifications (unless directed
otherwise)
Administrator Password: 09En420_

4.) Hit Next for both this screen and the “Let’s
Get Connected” screen.
An IP address is not required. A popup window
will show up with the title,” INITIAL SETUP
COMPLETE!”
Click ”Save and Reboot” on the popup window.

5.) The next step is to go to the Rockwell


Product Compatibility and Downloads Center to
access the terminal FW (if you don’t already
have it on USB drive).
This can be accessed at the following link:

6.) Under “Selections”, type in PanelView Plus


7 Performance, and Select Series B. This
selection will auto populate in the right
windowpane.
Click on the Download button next to the
firmware selected.

7.) A pop-up window will display as shown.


Select the one with For USB Firmware
Updates and click the Downloads button at the
top right.

8.) The next screen will show the firmware


selected for download.
Confirm the firmware being downloaded and
select Download now at the bottom right.

9.) Accept the EULA, and an executable


(.exe) will download with random characters

10.) Run the executable that downloaded.


This usually pops up in the bottom left of the
Chrome Browser

11.) The download will automatically begin


in the popup program. Once complete, the
C:\RA folder will automatically open.
Unzip/Extract the contents of “2711P-
PVP7_Performance_12.101.zip” to the
root of the USB drive. The 13 (.cab)
files for flashing the firmware will be
organized as shown below.

12.) Remove the USB drive from the computer


and plug it into PanelView Plus 7.
After the 2nd bootup, the PanelView Plus 7 will
load into the PanelView Plus Firmware
Upgrade Utility.
Press Update from USB Storage.

13.) Click OK on the prompt


Once the files are copied over, a new popup will
suggest safe removal of the USB drive. The
drive can now be removed. Hit OK to continue
with flashing the firmware.

14.) The PanelView Plus will take time to install


the firmware, with a black load screen with a
gear. Once the firmware install is complete, the
device will boot into FactoryTalk View ME and
now behave just like a Ser A PVP7
Performance.

15.) Set the PanelView Plus 7 Password and


Challenge Response to the Stellantis standard:

Password: 09En420_
Challenge Question: What is the Abbreviate
name for controls and robotics?
Challenge response: VPECR_

Note: At this point, you should handle the Series


B PVP7 Performance similar to a Series A PVP7.

Note: The Ser B of the terminal operates on


v12.xx firmware (minimum) but can be
programmed from v10 or newer FTView Studio
ME Studio and will run v5.0 or newer .MER files
(v8+ .MER files are officially tested/supported
similar to a Ser A unit)
