CA18DET Install Instructions
CA18DET Install Instructions
>>> Refer to the Battery diagrams on pages 4 & 5 – the fusebox needs to be supplied with 12v input power IN ADDITION to the starter.
>>> The Charge Cable supplies alternator power to the car and charges the battery and in some cases eliminates one or more fuse box
connectors. Refer to the diagram on page 6.
• Start by feeding the main section of the harness through the firewall. TIP: Place most of the harness into a plastic bag, spray with
WD40 or similar lubricant, and then squeeze and feed it through the firewall hole / under intake manifold. This can help a lot in
tight installs.
• Firewall Boot: It is possible to feed the harness through the boot but it is extremely difficult and can damage the harness
connectors if pulled too hard. It is highly recommended to make a cut at the bottom of the boot, under where it turns down, so
you can install the boot AFTER the harness is run through the firewall. Done properly, the cut / split is completely unseen. You
may also need to remove some material from the center, especially if you have other wires going through the firewall hole. Boots
are not preinstalled due to different positioning used for custom setups.
• Once you have the harness through the firewall, locate the CAS and MAFS connectors – these are the farthest connectors from the
firewall and should be connected first. Run the harness up along the intake manifold, either under or over the intake runners, as
desired for fitment and look, and plug in the CAS & MAFS connectors.
• Next, connect the following: Alternator, Coolant Temp Sensor connectors x 2, Injectors x 4, Air Regulator / Aux Air / Fast Idle,
Throttle Position Sensor & Full Throttle Switch connectors.
• Move on to the Coil Pack Harness and attach the ground to the back of the head, plug in coils. Now connect the O2 Sensor &
Boost Solenoid connectors. Next, connect the transmission Reverse & Speed connectors.
• Under the intake manifold, connect the Oil Pressure connector & the Knock Sensor sub-harness. Next, connect the starter signal,
starter main 12v power harness input, and positive battery cable to the starter. Connect the Charge Cable between the Alternator
main power lug and the Starter main power lug (from the battery). Do not connect power from the battery at this time.
• Inside the car, connect the Injector Resistor Box connector, and the 2 Ignitor Chip connectors. Connect the Intake Butterfly Valve
flying leads, and plug in the ECU.
• Once the main engine harness is fully installed, proceed to the Chassis Interface Install Guide for your individual vehicle for
connections to the dash and chassis / fusebox.
• If you see anything that does not make sense, does not match with info in this guide, or is obviously different than you see here,

Car Body Connection
Many vehicles require the engine bay fuse box to be powered directly from the battery 12v positive cable IN
ADDITION to having the starter connected directly to the battery. You will need to mimic the factory setup to
ensure the vehicle is fully powered up and the engine will start. Especially if you have a trunk mounted battery.
