of different infrastructures. These thoughts are true if you visualize civil engineering in
general point of view. However civil engineering is a broad field that is compose of different
type of engineers, each specialize in different type of construction and maintenance of the
physical and naturally built environments. Civil engineering specialization is a subfield of a
larger academic study that involves a specific operation, material or object. Civil engineering
specialization is composed of seven primary types, these are; Structural engineering,
Construction engineering, Geotechnical engineering, Environmental Engineering,
Transportation Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, and Material Engineering. Civil
engineering can be found all around us and it has a huge impact in our daily lives. It creates
creative innovations that makes our lives much easier such as road, railways, and bridges for
our daily transportations. Civil engineering projects such canals and dams can be used to
protect areas that are prone to flooding by regulating water flow on rivers. At the same time
these projects are also a good source of renewable energy which can reduce our carbon
emission. Farmers can also benefit from this since river water that are stored in dams can
reach their farmlands through irrigation canals. These are just a few examples that shows
how civil engineering makes an impact in changing lives.
