SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT DEFINITION: The manufacturing process, materials, and

technology used to manufacture a product are all part of a larger system called the `

1
supply chain. The supplier starts by receiving the raw materials,

goes through the manufacturing process, and finally delivers the final product to the customer.

2
PROJECT MANAGEMENT DEFINITION:

Project management uses a variety of perspectives, skills, knowledge, abilities, and experiences

to accomplish a project’s goals. Project management differs from conventional methods in that

projects generally do not follow routine corporate activities. The project manager leads a group

of people brought together to accomplish a task within a certain period of time and strives to

achieve stated, specific limited objectives On the other hand, in the management of the company,

long-term goals often have broader consequences.

ROLE OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT IN THE SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT:

Project management is well suited to the supply chain because it is the process of allocating

goods and services to achieve defined objectives within a set plan, budget and scope. There are

four main components a is provided in it when it can be considered: -

 Shifting the supply chain from local to international

 The lead time increases.

 Increasing the effectiveness of inventory management

 Increasing supplier productivity

 Introduction to new systems and software

 Functions such as fabrication and assembly are outsourced.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS IN SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT

3
1. Integration strategy for businesses

Plan considering efforts and other ongoing tasks and projects. In order to complete the project on

schedule and within budget, it considers the following factors: risks, restrictions, obstacles, and

contingencies; tasks, tools, methods, expenses, personnel needs, process tracking, and

stakeholder communication.

1. Management of project scope

To optimally maximize project productivity and efficiency, the project manager addresses all

regulatory requirements, infrastructure requirements, and project budgets This includes insights

4
into the latest technological developments, market trends, legal restrictions, and public

expectations.

2. Rapid planning and Scheduling:

Maintaining accurate delivery dates for project requirements and resources is an important part

of project management in the supply chain. By planning, organizing, and collaborating

throughout the project, an Agile methodology enables requirements to be delivered repeatedly

and in small increments throughout the lifecycle.

5
3. Risk management:

The process of identifying, analyzing, and responding to what might happen to stop or delay a

project is called risk management 9. Planning should include risk management so that any risks

are identified, and anticipated and its influence has been avoided. This would eliminate the need

for a "reactive" approach to risk management.

6
4. Business Case and Financial Awareness:

A strong business case is essential to the success of a project, so individual perspectives on

business effort must be set aside. This will assure that a budget for its termination is in place to

achieve the functionality necessary to improve supply chain performance. It will also make

7
stakeholders aware of the economic benefits of the project.

5. Resources:

Most organizations have limited amounts of people, resources, equipment, knowledge, and time.

Allow for difficulties in performing the task due to restricted resources available, including

personnel, equipment, procedures, and training. Overcoming these obstacles will ensure the

8
success of the supply chain management phase.

6. High-quality systems:

Low-cost, strategically acquired products are of little value to the firm if they do not perform or

meet the quality requirements of the firm.

7. Responsibilities and positions:

Tasks, priorities, and responsibilities are important elements of project management along with

documentation and deadlines. Regular meetings with project stakeholders will ensure that

activities are properly prioritized and everyone on the team is aware of their roles and

responsibilities. Similarly, if the project has external teams, their services and any dependencies

9
should be categorized in the documentation. All clients can understand the progress of the

business throughout its life cycle with the help of documents.

8. Communication

Soft skills and communication remain vital, despite advancements in project software tools and

apps. Building trust, establishing expectations, and expressing confidence all depend on human

relationships and interactions, much as supply chains use technology to analyse and track the

flow of data, goods, and money along the chain.
