Last Friday, Danny was reading a magazine when his mom brought in Mooie,

their pet dog. Mooie hopped onto his lap, giving him a friendly lick.

"Hey Mooie! How was your checkup?" Danny asked, but Mooie just gazed back.

Mom looked concerned. "We need to help Mooie," she said.

"How?" Danny wondered.

"Remember when we got Mooie as a puppy? She looked like her mom – light

brown, dark spots, short ears, full of energy. But how does she look now?"

Mom questioned.

"Hmm…She's a bit chubby and cute?" he guessed. "She's still light brown with

spots, short ears, but not as energetic or strong."

"Exactly what the vet said. We need to exercise her more and feed her less.

Will you help?" Mom asked.

"Sure!" Danny agreed. He decided to jog with Mooie every evening at the park.

They jogged 15 minutes the first day before Mooie tired. But Danny didn't

give up. Sometimes, they walked for 20-30 minutes. Soon, Mooie looked

stronger, like her mom. Danny was happy to help Mooie get fit again.

Part 7

Last Saturday, my school organized a “Keep Our Rivers Clean” campaign. I

volunteered to join the campaign. We assembled in the school hall at 7:30 am.

We departed for the nearby river by a rented bus. Ms. Chan gave us a
safety briefing that we needed to be aware of before we started to work. We
picked up rubbish along the riverbank and scooped out rubbish from the river.
Some of us were given the job of cutting the overgrown grass and putting up
the “Loves Our River” and “Stop Littering” signboards along the riverbank.

At about 11 am, we completed our mission. The teachers provided us with

bottles of mineral water and some snacks. Then, we got on the bus and headed
back to school.
