written in the form of a fraction 𝒅𝒏 such that d ≠0
Even numbers: {2, 4, 6, 8,......................}
, n, d ∈ Z
Notes:
Odd numbers: {1, 3, 5, 7, 9,…............} a. Any whole number, natural number,
integer is considered as a rational
number
b. Decimals :
Whole numbers: { 0, 1, 2, 3, 4,….........}
i. Terminating : 0.1 , 0.34 , 1.335

ii.Recurring : 0.1̇ = 0.111111…..

Integers: {………..,-3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3,..............}

Prime numbers: {2, 3, 5, 7, 11,….............} Irrational number: Any no. that ( cannot ) be
Notes about prime numbers: written in the form of a fraction 𝒏
𝒅
a. A prime number is any number that has Ex: Surds: √2 , 3√7 , √10, π ………
only two different factors, 1 and the
number itself
b. 1 is not prime,
c. 2 is the only even prime number

Square numbers :{ 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 64,................} Cubic numbers: { 1, 8, 27, 64, 125, ………}
Note: when a no. is multiplied by itself the Note: When a no. is multiplied by itself 3 times
product is a square no. the product is a cube no.
Square nos. are always positive nos. Ex: 5 × 5 × 5 = 125 and -5 × - 5 × - 5 = -125
Ex: 5 x 5 = 25 and -5 x -5 = 25
Then 25 is called a square no. while 5 and -5 are Then 125 and -125 are cube numbers while 5 is
the square roots of 25 called the cubic root of 125 and -5 is the cubic

√25 = 5 , − √25 = - 5 root of -125

the square roots of 25 are ( 5 and -5 )
