A RESOLUTION TO ADOPT THE RAPID EARTHQUAKE DAMAGE ASSESSMENT SYSTEM

(REDAS) SOFTWARE AS TOOL IN MAINSTREAMING DISASTER RISK REDUCTION
(DRR) INTO LOCAL DEVELOPMENT PLANNING PROCESS, CONTINGENCY PLANNING,
AND EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS THROUGH THE USE OF THE REDAS SOFTWARE IN
THE MUNICIPALITY OF DINAS.

WHEREAS, pursuant to RDRRMC IX Resolution No. 016, S. 2023, that mandates the
Local Government Units (LGUs) to adopt the Rapid Earthquake Damage Assessment
System (REDAS) Software as tool in mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) into
Local Development Planning Process, Contingency Planning, and Emergency
Preparedness through the use of the REDAS Software in Zamboanga Peninsula;

WHEREAS, PHIVOLCS-DOST developed a software called Rapid Earthquake

Damage Assessment System (REDAS) that aims to produce seismic hazard and risk maps
minutes after the occurrence of a potentially damaging earthquake;

WHEREAS, REDAS can be used to conduct multi-hazard and risk assessment at the
provincial and municipal levels; is now capable of calculating impacts due to earthquakes, tsunami,
crop damage, severe wind and floods; can be used as a tool for mainstreaming disaster risk
reduction into the local development planning process, contingency planning and emergency
planning;

NOW THEREFORE, on motion of Ms. Christine Gay R. Tangan, and was seconded by Ms.
Sheila Mae L. Otero, it was;

RESOLVED, that the resolution approving the adoption of the Rapid Earthquake
Damage Assessment System (REDAS) Software as tool in mainstreaming Disaster Risk
Reduction (DRR) into Local Development Planning Process, Contingency Planning, and
Emergency Preparedness through the use of the REDAS Software in the municipality of Dinas
and recommending approval to the Sangguniang Bayan, be adopted;

RESOLVE FURTHER, to furnish copies of this to the Sangguniang Bayan for their review
and approval;

UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED;

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly approved by the Local Disaster
Risk Reduction Management Council (LDRRMC) in a meeting held on March 13, 2024 at the
Women’s Training Center, Municipal Compound, Dinas, Zamboanga del Sur.
