There are many religions in our communities . Some of them are Christianity and islam. Christianity is
a religion practised by Christians. These are peoples who follow Christ , believe in God and read the
bible while islam is practised by followers of Mohammad called Muslims.
Christians believe in God and have two main religious celebration , Christmas and Easter .
Christmas is celebrated on the 25 th of December by most Christians throughout the world. It is a
day that they believe their lord and saviour JESUS CHRIST was born to free them from sin and
suffering. Easter celebration comes after JESUS death on the cross as a sign of victory over sin and
death . He was crucified , died and resurrected on Easter Sunday. Like Christmas , it is observed by
Christians.
Muslims believe in Allah. They go to the mosque to pray and read the Koran , they pray at least
five times a day . Like Christians, they too have two major feast nomely: the feast at the end of the
fasting period and that of the sacrifices . Every Muslim is expected to feast during the period of
fasting except people on treatment, little children and pregnant women or breast feeding mothers .
It is obligatory for Muslims who can offer a ram to do so during the feast of the sacrifice , most of
which is shared to the poor and visitors. In the mosque, rams are sacrificed by the imams.
