PROGRAMMING

GREEN
BIL OPERATION TASK DESCRIPTION
1 Mowing a) Green shall be mowed with walk-behind or ride on
machine at a frequency of 7 times per week & must be
completed before 9.00am daily.
b) Two types of machinery used are walk-behind and ride on
c) The green shall be mowed within 3.5mm – 4.5mm as
requested by the golf course superintendant. The greens

2 Grooming a) Thatch accumulation is a common problem in the greens,
grooming will be carried out once week by using Jacobson
Greensking V with groomer attachment or using ride on
green master with detaching attachment every 2 weeks
b) Dept of vertical cutting is 1.0mm – 1.5mm depends on the
thickness of thatch, the cutting pattern in 2 directions
3 Hollow tining a) Intense traffic on greens can resulted in a severe soil
& Top compaction problem.
dressing b) Hollow tining of greens to depth 3 inch – 4 inch diameter
½ inch to ¾ inch of core.
c) Hollow tining will be carried out once in every 3 or 4
months
d) The types of machinery used are Green Aerator. All the
tine need to be removed before top dressing work

hollow tining and 10 mesh grade river washed sand is

4 Fertilization a) Fertilization will be carried out every 3 weeks
b) The specific fertilizer programmed must be selected base
on an analysis of condition on the golf course or even on
individual green. The types of fertilizers vary with the time
of application and the respond desired.
c) Green spreader is used to spread out granular fertilizer on
green.
5 Insecticide / a) Chemical application particularly fungicide and insecticide
Fungicide will be applied as and when it is necessary. There will be
no fixed application programmed. However, prevention
shall be carried out for every 2 weeks
b) The application need to be made by and experienced
employee and the equipment used in a knapsack sprayer,
boom sprayer or walk behind spreader. Proper calibration
must be carried out before applying the chemical on the
greens

6 Hole a) Hole changing will be carried out 4 times per week (e.g.
changing Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday).
b) Tools poles and flags will be provided and the colour of
flags will be determined the pin position (e.g. Red – front,
White – center and Yellow – back)
7 Services and a) Throughout the year, ball mark on the greens needs
Repair attention and also sod replacement work is required.
TEE BOX

1 Mowing a) The tee surface shall be mowed with ride on machinery at
frequency every 2 days.
b) The cutting height on tees surface should be low enough
that when the ball is teed up at the desired height, left
growth does not obstruct clean contact between the
clubface and ball. 6mm – 7mm cutting height for all tee
boxes is recommended.
c) The tee apron should be mowed with same machine but
the mowing heights is 10mm- 12mm and than the
frequency of mowing 3 times a week.
2 Top dressing a) Top dressing will be carried out every 4 month. (April,
& Hollow August and December)

tees.

fertilizer.
4 Insecticide & a) Chemical application particularly fungicide and insecticide
Fungicide will be applied as and when it is necessary. There will be
no fixed application programmed. The insecticide or
fungicide shall be applied with proper calibration.
b) Golf course superintendent will determine the specific rate
and type of chemical.
5 Divoting a) Divot repair on the tees must be carried out every 2 days
6 Marker a) Tee marker placing will be carried out every two day early
placing in the morning. The marker must be 4m apart or depends
on the tee sizes
b) All accessories like sand pot, benches, signage’s and
dustbin are replace together.
FAIRWAY

1 Mowing a) Fairway shall be mowed with ride on 5-gang reel machine. The
type of machine used is Reel Master 5000D or light weight
Ransomes 250 4WD or Jacobsen LF 1004WD
b) Fairway shall be mowed 10mm – 12mm height at frequency of 3
times a week
c) Heavy clipping must be sweep and collected.
2 Fertilization a) Fertilization will be applied every 3 months.
b) The specific fertilizer programmed must be selected by Golf
Course Superintendent base on the analysis of the golf course
c) The fertilizer is applied with tractor-drawn rotary spreader having
an operating capacity of 2 ½ hac. Per hour and watering is
requested just after fertilizing completed
3 Herbicide a) Herbicide is used to kill the weed a long the drain, water sum ,
tree base surroundings, side of tract, under the distance marker
and flowerbed.
b) Herbicide for kill or remove foreign grass must be selected and
programmed by Golf Course Superintendent.
c) The application need to be made by and experienced employee
and the equipment used in a knapsack sprayer, boom sprayer or
walk behind spreader. Proper calibration must be carried out
before applying the chemical on the fairway.
FAIRWAY

4 Divoting a) All divots on the fairways must be replaced 3 times per
week. One load of sand will be provided and 3 – 4 workers
will follow the utility vehicle for divoting.
5 Service & a) To maintain the appearance befitting a quality golf course,
Repair the fairways should be regularly devoted. Also, because of
damaged caused by players and equipment, various parts
of the fairways must be repaired each year, either by re-
sodding or by re-sowing sections. Un even and hollow
areas should be lifted and leveled off, prior to the turf
being replaced.
SEMI ROUGH

1 Mowing a) Mowing semi rough area will be carried out twice a week
b) Semi rough will be mowed with 25mm – 35mm cutting
height and the wide of area is 3.0m – 3.5m
c) Type of machine used is turf tire tractor with slasher

2 Fertilization a) Fertilization will be applied every 3 months.
b) Golf Course Superintendent must select the specific and
calibration of fertilizer base on the analysis of the golf
course
c) The fertilizer is applied with a tractor drawn rotary
spreader.
3 Insecticide & a) Chemical application particularly insecticide and herbicide
Herbicide will be applied when necessary to control weeds or insect

ROUGH

1 Mowing a) Mowing semi rough area will be carried out once in every
week
b) Rough will be mowed with 2inc – 2.5inch cutting height.
Type of machine used is ride on rough mower and also turf
tire tractor with slasher attachment
c) Whenever the above machine cannot be used like at the
soggy area the rough shall be mowed with bush cutter or
flymo mower.
2 Fertilization a) Fertilization will be applied twice a year. (May and
November)
b) The Golf Course Superintendent must select the specific
and calibration of fertilizer base on the analysis of the golf
course
c) The fertilizer is applied with a tractor drawn rotary
spreader.
BUNKER
BIL OPERATION TASK DESCRIPTION
1 Raking a) Raking bunker shall be carried out early morning with Sand
Pro ride on machine
b) Manual raking by workers will be carried out a long the
edge of the bunker
2 Mowing a) Bunker slope shall be mowed with bush cutter machine.
b) Cutting must be carried out a long the edge of the bunker.
3 Trimming a) Trimming edge bunker of the edge of the bunker slope
must be trimmed nicely with manually work activity.
b) The frequency of trimming activity is every 2 weeks.
4 Service & a) Normal problem for bunker is ponding, service and repair
Repair activity carried out if necessary.
b) Refill bunker sand will be carried out if necessary.
c) Walk behind mini Rotovator activity in the bunker carried
every 4 months.
POND & HILL SLOPE
2 Pump House a) Pump house must be cleared from debris and other
unnecessary materials
b) Irrigation operator is responsible to all pump and
accessories provided at pump house.
c) Servicing and preventive maintenance for the irrigation
will be carried out once a month.
3 Piping & a) The irrigation operator must be inform to the Golf Course
Sprinkler Superintendent any damage of the irrigation system
heads immediately
b) Any replacement parts must be approved by Golf Course
Superintendent
WORKSHOP
1. Make sure all of equipment or turf machinery
safe and good condition all the time.
2. Repairing troubleshoot of equipment or turf
3. Prepare for any ad-hoc repair or troubleshoot
during maintenance activities that involve
equipment or machinery.
4. Types of mower equipments:
• Reel Mower
• Rotary Mower
• Sickle-bar Mower
• Vertical Mower
LANDSCAPE
• Make sure the beautification of the golf course and clubhouse
area
• Preparing potted plant for any big event especially at
clubhouse, ballroom etc
• Maintain operation activity such as weeding, fertilizing,
chemical spraying, trimming, pruning etc.
OB, HAZARDS & GUR
1. Repainting of the OB and hazards stakes will be carried out
every 3 months.
2. The stakes Yellow color for water hazards and Red for lateral
water hazards.
3. The distance each stakes to others is 20m and become
nearer at the corner.
4. Draw up line OB and Hazards must be carried out once a
month
5. The line must be smoother following the pond slope.
6. GUR is the ground under repair, on this area must be
marking by white paint or white stakes.

a GREEN 1. Need to be mowed early in the morning, start around
5.30am and used ride on mower or walk behind mower
2. In order to get the best green speed for tournament:
a. Lower the cutting height
b. Rolling after green cutting
c. Double green cutting
3. Pin changing will be conducted a day before decided by
golf committee member
4. Cultivation activities – need to be done 1 month before
tournament
5. Fertilization application better after cultivation process.
Choose the best fertilizer to get the good result.

b Tee box 1. Tee maker position need to be change into

2. Make sure water for ball washer will be refill
3. Sand pot for divot has been refill
4. Rubbish bin has been cleared
c Bunker 1. Bunker sand should be rake along together
with green cutting; early in the morning.
d OB, Hazards & GUR area 1. Identify and mark the soggy area.
