YELLOW ROADWAY CORPORATION YRC Inc., Phoenix AZ Area Director of Operations (March 2007 Oct 2011) Responsible for $200 million dollar P&L with focus on costs containment, improving service levels and enhancing the overall customer experience. Initial challenges focused on right sizing operations in a fluctuating economy. Corporate acquisitions created duplication of services within identical market footprints that required redundancies to be evaluated, action plans designed and implemented to eliminate excess assets (50% reduction in some parts of the country) while also stabilizing & maintaining operations for customers. Key success was identifying, keeping and developing the best talent possible at each location. Assessed and replaced ineffective management and revamped organization structure within facilities to be commensurate with local market conditions. Instituted safety process and culture that resulted in 20% reduction of injuries and accidents year over year for three years running. Annual run rate is $1+ million dollars. Launched service cycle time processes and goals geared towards reducing processing time and improving service. On-time service increased from mid 80% to low 90%s. Shipment counts grew 8.3% 2011 vs. 2010. Improved performance in dock, pickup and delivery and linehual operations that resulted in $1.5 million dollar saving on annualized basis for 2011.
