Email policy:
You must use your KPU email to contact your instructor. Emails will be checked
daily, urgent questions will be answered within 24 hours, barring technological
issues. Questions that can be answered by reading your course syllabus will not
generate a response, so when in doubt, check your course syllabus first.

Please make sure you register for the online materials promptly. Late assignments due
to a failure to register in a timely manner will not be accepted.
Missed exams and in class labs may be able to be made up with a relevant doctor’s note.
Exams must be made up before the next class, or else credit for the missed midterm will
be calculated on the average of your other midterms. If you are going to miss your exam,
you need to email me right away, and when I have given you permission to write the
exam, you must email the Psychology Lab to book an appointment to write the exam. If
you miss a lab, you must give me a Doctor’s note as well as email me so I can direct you
to the Lab Instructors. Late online exercises will not be given credit without a relevant
doctor’s note.
Missed presentations will also require a doctor’s note, and will need to be completed the
following class session.
Failure to follow the previous instructions will mean a loss of credit for the missed
test, lab, or presentation.
Please note that bonus credits are available for participating in research. See
http://kwantlen.sona-systems.com to sign up. Max 2 percentage points.
Assignment Guidelines
Learning Curve
The LC activities for each chapter (10 in total) are found through your LaunchPad from
the textbook. They are worth a total of 15%. There are several due dates, as noted on the
list in your LaunchPad, so make note of these. Late LC activities will not be accepted
without a Doctor’s note. If you have difficulty using LaunchPad, please contact the Tech
Support directly. I cannot solve technical challenges with the LaunchPad program, so you
need to get in touch with them, and keep any emails or incident numbers involved in the
problem. No other LaunchPad activities are part of your grade, but they are
available to you for review. Summative Quizzes will be assigned for your review, but
are not part of your marks. Only the designated Learning Curve activities count
towards marks, and they are based on your completion of them to the program’s standard,
not the percentage you get on the quiz.
Presentations
Each group must present to the class an article about Psychology from an academic
journal, along with a single two page summary, double spaced, with a title page. Any
topic is fine, and the article needs to be from the year 2000 and up. You need to
summarize the article to the class. Presentations will be 10 minutes in total. Presentations
will be marked on preparation, organization, clarity and accuracy. Members of a group
will all receive the same grade. Presentation dates will be assigned in class. If you miss
your presentation day, you will need a Doctor’s note to reschedule or receive credit, if
your group goes ahead without you.
Articles MUST be primary research articles, and it is recommended that you have your
article checked to make sure it qualifies as primary research. Anyone using other types
of articles, or articles that are before the year 2000 will have to redo their
presentation.
Groups will be formed and presentation dates will be assigned in class. It is your
responsibility to be present for the group assignment, and to communicate with your
group members. I will not be sharing emails of your group members.
If you miss the day that we form groups, it is your responsibility to either join and group
and inform me to add you to that group, or ask for assistance to be placed into a group.
You MUST hand in the article and the summary before you start your presentation.
Failure to hand in the required materials at the start of your presentation will result in a
grade reduction of 50%.
