Passive Voice
Các bước cụ thể để chuyển đổi từ một câu chủ động sang thể bị động:
Bước 1: Xác định tân ngữ trong câu (O) và đẩy lên đầu câu làm chủ ngữ (S).
Bước 2: Quan sát động từ chính (V) và xác định thì của câu.
Bước 3: Chuyển đổi động từ về dạng bị động “tobe + P2/V(cột 3)” theo thì của câu
gốc
Bước 4: Chuyển đổi chủ ngữ (S) trong câu chủ động thành tân ngữ (O), đưa về
cuối câu và thêm “by” phía trước.
Trật từ trong câu bị động: trạng từ chỉ địa điểm → by O → trạng từ chỉ thời gian.
*LƯU Ý:
1. Khi chủ ngữ và túc từ trong câu chủ động là đại từ (it, they,their…), ta phải thay
đổi cho phù hợp.
Ex: The teacher punished me.
I was punished by the teacher.
2. S (chủ động) là những đại từ nhân xưng ( he, she, you, they, we..) và các đại từ
bất định: someone, somebody, anyone, anybody, everyone, everybody,..... thì lược
“bỏ by O” (câu bị động) nếu không muốn nêu rõ tác nhân.
Ex: Someone has sent me the flowers.
I have been sent the flowers.
She must do all homework before going to bed.
All homework must be done before going to bed.
Someone stole my bike last night.
My bike was stolen last night.
They have finished that exercise since last week.
That exercise has been finished since last week.
3. Nếu chủ ngữ trong câu chủ động là Noone/ noboby khi đổi sang bị động ta bỏ by
noone/ nobody nhưng động từ phải đổi sang thể phủ định.
Ex: No one believes(+) his story.
His story isn’t believed(-).
4. Vị trí của trạng từ.
o Trạng từ(adv) chỉ thể cách được đặt trứơc P2/V3 (adv + V3)
Ex: I do my homework carefully(adv).
My homework is carefully done.
o Trạng từ chỉ thời gian có thể đặt ở đầu câu hoặc sau by + O
Ex: I lent him money yesterday.
He was lent money yesterday.
o Trạng từ chỉ nơi chốn được đặt trước by + O
Ex: Mary bought the gift from that shop.
The gift was bought from that shop by Mary.
Địa điểm + by O + tgian
Địa điểm + tgian + by O
5. Đối với một số động từ có 2 tân ngữ thì 1 trong 2 tân ngữ có thể làm chủ ngữ
của câu bị động; tuy nhiên tân ngữ chỉ người thường được dùng nhiều hơn.
Ex: He sent me a postcard.
I was sent a postcard.
A postcard was sent to me.

A. Câu bị động với Yes - No Question
Yes-No Question: các câu hỏi có câu trả lời phải là Yes/No, thường bắt đầu bằng:
Các động từ khiếm khuyết: shall, ought to, must, will, would, might, may
Các trợ động từ: Do, Does, Did, Have, Be.
Eg: Does your friend eat that chocolate cake? (A)
S V O
B1: Xác định thì của câu hỏi.
Vì đây là thì HTĐ → S + am/is/are+ V3/Ved.
B2: Làm như một câu bị động ở thì HTĐ bình thường, không quan tâm tới dấu (?)
→ That chocolate cake is eaten by your friend.
B3: Trả dấu chấm hỏi về, đưa am/is/are lên đầu câu.
→ Is that cake eaten by your friend?
Eg: Did your mother tell this story?
B1: Thì quá khứ => S + was/were + V3/ved
B2: Che từ “Did” đi, coi như một câu trần thuật bị động ở thì QKĐ.
This story was told by your mother.
B3: Trả lại (?) bằng cách đưa was hoặc were lên đầu câu.
Was this story told by your mother?
(be) + S + P2 + by O ?
