Backend Engineer (Python)

This company is seeking a talented Backend Engineer with experience in building and deploying
complex data pipelines and software to enable data science or machine learning model
implementations. As a Backend Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the technical team, working
on the development of a productized version of a climate finance platform. Your expertise in Python
and cloud-deployed machine learning models will be essential in creating user-friendly interfaces
and ensuring a seamless experience for investors engaging in the climate transition through financial
instruments.

What You Will Be Doing

 Developing, implementing, testing, and shipping analytics software using Python.


 Productizing the data and machine learning backend to enhance user experience.
 Collaborating with the broader team to implement user interfaces.
 Deploying software within the financial industry.
 Implementing and maintaining code on various layers of the web stack, including cloud
deployments, data storage, and pipelines.

What You Bring

 Proven experience learning quickly and working in fast-paced, unstructured environments.


 Strong programming skills in Python and familiarity with modern web-stack.
 Proficiency in at least one other programming language (e.g., C++, Java).
 Experience testing, debugging, and maintaining production code.
 Familiarity with one of the major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
 Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical subject, or
equivalent qualification or technical experience.
 Proficiency in written and spoken English.

Desirable Skills and Experience

 Experience building backend software for text-based data and analytical models.
 Knowledge of setting up cloud infrastructure for web stack and data pipeline applications.
 Experience with scaling web APIs, including logging, monitoring, optimization, hosting, and
deployment.
 Previous experience in software development within the financial industry.
 Demonstrable experience in building fast prototypes.
 Direct experience in a tech startup environment.
