Types of fixtures that can provide general ambient indoor lighting:

Ceiling lights: Ceiling lights are the most commonly used form of house lighting. Mounted
flush to the ceiling, these lights provide low-light. They are typically attached to a wall switch.
Traditional recessed fixtures and / or LED downlights: When placed on a dimmer switch,
recessed lighting can be used for ambient ceiling lighting.
Table lamps: If you want a truly cozy ambience, try adding a shaded table lamp on an
occasional table. The ambient effect is immediate.
Torchière lamps: A torchière floor or table lamp reflects light toward the ceiling. This lighting
option brightens up any corner or area in a room.
Chandeliers: A chandelier is one of the most dramatic types of fixtures. Some chandelier
designs provide both uplighting and downlighting.
Wall-mounted fixture : “Wall light” and “wall sconces” are often used interchangeably and
essentially mean the same thing – a lamp that is mounted on a wall.
Track light : Track lighting is mounted or suspended from the ceiling on a linear unit that
contains several light heads, which can be positioned anywhere along the track. The
direction of the heads can also be adjusted. In this room, the track lighting is used to highlight
the artwork and wall and provide overall light for the space
TYPES OF LANDSCAPE LIGHTING :
SPOTLIGHTS/ FLOODLIGHTS Spotlights project a concentrated, narrow beam of light that's
usually around 45 degrees. It's easier to aim and adjust so that if you're looking to highlight
specific display points, like architectural details or landscape features, a spotlight will be your
best choice. Floodlights generally have a wider beam spread, up to 120 degrees. If you're
looking to cast light over general areas like a driveway or lot, use a floodlight. It's better for
overall safety and visibility
INGROUND LIGHTING An inground light, or well light, is typically a circle-shaped fixture that
installs directly into the ground, and is often used to illuminate walkways and driveways.
Ingrounds really heighten the sophistication and visibility of the features in your yard.It helps
create drama and atmosphere with an uplight effect that illuminates the whole of a tree or
structure. It also silhouettes the characters that stand around the yard; those you wouldn't be
able to see on a typical night. They're best mixed with spotlights, if and when you can blend
them, but uplighting on its own can be a strong lighting solution.
