A-4. SELECTION OF WATER CEMENT RATI0:
From Table 5 of IS 456, maximum water-cement ratio =0.45
Based on experience, adopt water-cement ratio as = 0.45
0.45 is equal to 0.45, hence 0.K

A-5. SELECTION OF WATER CEMENT RATIO:

range)
From Table 2 of IS 10262-2009, maximum water content = 186 lit (For 25 to 50Omm slump
Estimated water content for 75 mm slump = 186 + (3/100x 186)F192 litre.
As Superplasticizer is used, the water content can be reduced upto 20% and above
arrived water content= 192 x
Without Superplasticizer, the water content can be reduced upto 14%,the
0.86= 165 liters.
A-6. DETERMINATION OF CEMENT CONTENT:

Water Cement ratio =0.45

Water = 165 lts
Cement content = 165 /0.45= 367kgs/ m
= 320 Kgs/m
From Table 5 of IS 456, minimum cement content for moderate exposure condition
367 kgs/m'>320 Kgs/m, hence OK

Hence Cement Content =367Kgs/ m

A-7 PROPORTION OF VOLUME OFCOARSE AGGREGATE AND FINE AGGREGATE

CONTENT

From Table 3, of IS 10262-2009, volume of coarse aggregate corresponding to 20mm size aggregate
and fine aggregate Zone-II, for water -cement ratio 0.5=0.62.
In the present case the water- cement ratio is 0.5. Therefore, no adjustments required for the coarse
aggregate proportion of 0.62.
(For pumpable concrete (RMC) these values should be reduced by 10 %)
However, for site mix, the coarse aggregate proportion will remain same at 0.62

Therefore the proportion of fine aggregates = 1-0.62 =0.38

A-8 MIX CALCULATIONS

The mix calculations per unit volume of concrete shallbe as follows
