An Easter

Story
Leo’s favourite food is chocolate, so
it’s no surprise that his favourite
holiday is Easter.

Every year, his grandparents, aunties, uncles Before the two weeks of the Easter holidays,
and parents give him many Easter eggs of all Leo was talking to his friend Nigel about
flavours and sizes. Of course, Easter isn’t just the activities they were going to do. “I’m
about eating chocolate, but it’s also about going to spend all day stuffing my face with
spending time with family and celebrating chocolate!”, shouted Leo excitedly. “But Leo,
new life in the spring season. the weather’s going to be spectacular on
Easter Sunday - why don’t you come along
to the Easter egg hunt at the local park?”
replied Nigel. “That doesn’t sound like the
most exciting thing, but I’ll ask my mum”,
said Leo.

Later that day, Leo mentioned the Easter


egg hunt to his mum. “Mum, Nigel’s going
to an Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday,
and I’m not too keen. It doesn’t sound like
my kind of thing”, he told her. “Oh, Leo.
You can’t spend all day inside, go to the
activity with your friend! You’ll have a great
time, and you might even win a prize”, she
replied. “A prize? What kind of prize?” asked
Leo. “Well, you might win some chocolate
eggs!” she said.

Leo’s eyes lit up - he could win more Easter
eggs! He couldn’t wait to try his hand at the
Easter egg hunt. It would be his first time
doing an activity like this, and he was even
more motivated thinking about the chance
to win more sweet treats. A couple of weeks
later, it was Easter Sunday, and Leo and
Nigel met up with their families at the park -
the hunt would start in half an hour!

The organisers of the event lined up all the


competitors together at the starting point,
and the rules were clear: the children had
half an hour to find as many eggs as they
could all over the park. When the time was
up, the organisers would ring a bell, and the
children had to return to the starting point
to count their eggs, and the winner would be
announced. The Easter egg hunt had started!
so while Leo was sad he didn’t win, he was
Leo rushed around the park, searching for
proud of his friend for doing so well. “Well
the eggs in every bush he could find - no
done, Nigel!” shouted Leo. “Thanks! Here,
