Section A – Physical Environment

ii. Name one active volcano and any four different types of

c). Suggest ways by which people can reduce the risks of damage

ii). Describe the climatic characteristics of Station X. (4)

c)i. Outline the problems caused by the equatorial climate. (7)

ii. Propose ways of coping with the problems stated in (c) (i)

3a). Describe and explain the characteristics of hot desert soils. (7)

b). Photograph A shows an ecosystem which has been modified by


people.
i). Describe the changes that have been made to the ecosystem
as a result of the activities shown. (5)

ii). Outline the effects of the changes you have described in (b) (i)
above on the ecosystem. (6)

c). A proposal has been put forward for the setting up of a nature
reserve in your area. What arguments can be put forward by
