Lightning Arrester Unit

Current Transformers
Power Transformers

Wave Trap Service - WTS

Wave Trap:

• It can be defined as an inductance serial device installed at the HV line;

• It possess a line (RC) in parallel;
• Resonant circuit presenting high impedance for Carrier frequency;
• Negligible impedance face of the frequency from the system (50 or 60
Hz);
• Avoid the energy dissipation toward the substation, in other words,
encloses the flowing energy area at the line;
• Short circuits or alien operations may cause damages;
• Due to the serial line, the equipment must withstand continuously load,
besides it presents thermic and dynamic load current compatible with
short circuit currents.
• Inductance may vary from 0,1 mH to 2,0 mH, depending on the threshold
of frequencies which shall be blocked.

2. Clean both conductors Source and load;
3. Connect the jumpers of MS at the side Source;
4. Connect the jumpers of MS at the side load;
5. Install the jumper (bridge pole) at the side source ;
6. Close the MS;
7. Install the bridge pole jumpers at the load side;
8. Open the MS;
9. Open the connector at the load side to increase the insulating distance;
10. Disconnect the jumper of the MS at the load side;
11. Install the jumper at the MS connector at the source side;
12. Close the MS, while energize the WTS and the PT in parallel;
13. Open the conductor at the source side and move it to increase the insulating distance;
14. Open the MS;
15. Disconnect the MS jumpers from the connector source at WTS;
16. Disconnect the MS jumpers from conductor at source side;
17. Disassemble both MS and scaffold.
