The Emergency Department and the need for staff to go out of the hospital

environment with the ambulances to attend to patients requiring emergency

assistance are challenging and complex and require particular skills and
knowledge to provide excellent patient care. Current practice is to learn “on
the job”, which lead to very variable training, experience and knowledge. A
formal training program for current "ED" nurses will bring a foundation to
their practice, and elevate standards of care within these acute care
settings. This formalized training will ensure that the nurses can carry out
their expected roles and responsibility in accordance with the required
standards and expertise.

The main aim of EMT is:

 To provide all ED nurses with an updated, standardized, and easily accessible

set of pre-hospital educational materials
 To reinforce knowledge and skills of Siloam International Hospitals’ ED nurses
 To act as an evaluation tool for ongoing training and education programs

The objectives for this program are to :

 Have a baseline education for all Emergency Department nurses
 Able to properly manage and treat any emergency for all patients(adult and
pediatric)
 Set a functional understanding and practical foundation

 SRC 1 (BLS)
