The SEC banned cryptocurrencies as a payment


method on April 1, 2022, due to #nancial
security concerns. This does not apply to
trading or investing in digital assets. Crypto
exchanges must have a license from the
SEC.

In January 2024, the SEC removed the


investment limit for retail investors in digital
tokens backed by infrastructure or real estate.
This change is expected to suppo% the
development of the country's digital asset
market and expand the market to a wider range
of investors.

Thailand has also established a regulatory


sandbox for digital assets, which provides a
pla&orm for #nancial technology companies to
test their products and services in a controlled
environment.
