Mane
To create the mane that runs from between Eeyore’s ear towards his shoulders you need to
cut a few lengths of black or dark-grey 4-ply or DK yarn (about 20cm/ 8in or similar, (save
about 4 for the Tail) you’ll trim them later).
Fold each length in half, pass the cut ends into the eye of a yarn sewing needle, pass the
needle into a knitted stitch that’s in the centre of Eeyore’s back, as you pull the needle
through, pass the needle tip into the loop that’s created when the yarn length was folded,
pull through until the knot lies against the knitted stitch. Make more similar tassels to
complete the mane. Once completed, trim to suit. - Ref. Figs. 19 & 20

& Finally ...

EEYORE’S TAIL
AFTER STUFFING THE LEGS, MATTRESS STITCH ACROSS With yarn B, cast on 5 sts and work i-cord until the tail measures approx. 7cm/ 3in.
THE HOOF SOLES TO JOIN THE FINAL SEAMS If you want to work i-cord on two single-pointed needles - this is how:
FIG. 18 Row 1. Knit
Do not Turn the work
You’ll now work ‘i-cord’ on these 5 Tail sts as follows:

NOTE: Have RS/ knit-side facing at all time

1st i-cord row. *RS facing, slide the 5 sts off the right-hand needle onto the point of the
left-hand needle pull the working yarn behind the back of the work ready to knit and knit
all 5 sts.**
2nd & following i-cord rows. Repeat as first i-cord row from * to ** until the Tail
measures approx. 7cm/ 3in.
Next i-cord row. (dec) RS facing, slide the 5 sts off the right-hand needle onto the point
of the left-hand needle pull the working yarn behind the back of the work ready to knit,
k2tog, k1, k2tog - 3sts.
FIG. 19 Cut yarn B and thread the tail end through the remaining 3 sts, pull up to close the end
and weave the tail end back into the i-cord.
FIG. 20 Create a tassel for the tail with four cut lengths of black yarn as you did for the mane.

Join Tail to Eeyore’s Bottom A Note About Stuffing

I sewed mine on but you can also add a button if you wish. Plenty of stuffing in the legs, and you can also add wire if you want your Eeyore to be fully pose-able and to be
(I believe Christopher Robin nailed it on in the stories!!) able to stand unassisted.
- Ref. Fig. 21 Into the body I’ve not added too much stuffing because I want to be able to pose my Eeyore: move his head
around; make him sit - he’s quite a floppy toy as you can see from the following images:
