Convert P6 WBS to Activity Codes without SDK

New method to convert any primavera P6 WBS to activity codes without using the SDK old method.
Using the attached sheet, you can save hours of manual work using this smart technique.

1- Copy the WBS from Oracle Primavera P6

2- Copy the activities along with its WBS and WBS path

3- Name your activity codes.

4- Create the activity codes in Primavera P6

5- Export the activities to the spreadsheet.

6- Fill in the activity code values from the smart sheet

7- Import your sheet again to Primavera P6.

1. First Step
You open WBS in Primavera then Copy and Paste it into the attached Excel sheet

2. Second Step
We need to fill the Second sheet with it’s headings from Primavera

We need to show some columns to fill this sheet as these columns are already in Primavera

This is the layout of Primavera but we need to remove all the WBS in the Schedule

So From Group and Sort Choose Delete then OK

These are the Activities from P6 and you need to Delete your first row at the Activities Sheet

If you notice that every WBS is separated by ( . ) then will put every path in a standalone Column

From the Data choose Text to Column to distribute the Path of the activity

All you need to select the WBS Path Column

Click on Next but make sure that the path will not exceed 7 variables due to having some formulas
after the 7 Column or you need to add some dummy columns to avoid messing with the Formulas

Choose Other: and type ( . ) to put every number in a column then Next

Choose Finish to the distribution of the Path

This will be the WBS Path Distributed in WBS Path, Column 1, Column 2

3. Third Step
You need to go back to the WBS sheet and remove the Spaces before the Path

Choose Find and Replace then type 2 spaces then Replace All to remove the spaces

the all codes

Last Step
The Last step which unfortunately will be done manually in Primavera will be how to add the activity
codes.

From Enterprise choose Activity Codes and Click on Modify.

From the File menu Choose Export Them choose Spreadsheet XLSX

Choose Activities and then Click Next

From Activity Codes Project Show all the 2 columns WBS0 WBS1 WBS2 to import them back to
Primavera

Click finish to open the exported Excel sheet

This is the Exported sheet and our sheet so we are going to VLOOKUP the Activity ID Choose WBS0
for the First Column and repeat this step for WBS1 WBS2

You should make sure that you have no blanks or N/A

Then Copy and paste them as values to remove the VLOOKUP formula then import them back to
Primavera
