Assertion and Reason Type Question [ Each question 1 mark = 2 marks]
For question numbers 11 and 12 two statements are given one labelled as Assertion (A) and the other labelled
Reason (R). Select the correct answer to these questions from the codes (a), (b), (c) and (d) as given below.
(a) Both ‘A’ and ‘R’ are true and ‘R’ is correct explanation of the assertion.
(b) Both ‘A’ and ‘R’ are true and ‘R’ is not correct explanation of the assertion.
(c) ‘A’ is true but ‘R’ is false.
(d) ‘A’ is false and ‘R’ is true.
(11) Assertion: If p is a prime number then H.C.F. of p, p2, p3 is p.
Reason: H.C.F. of 3 number is smallest number among them.
(12) Assertion: A quadratic polynomial with zeroes 2, 3 and -3 is x 2 – 5x +6.
Reason: If α and β are zeroes of a quadratic polynomial is given by x2 – (α + β)x + αβ

(21) HCF and LCM are widely used in number system especially in real number in finding relationship between
different numbers and their general forms. Also, product of two positive integers is equal to the product of the
HCF and LCM.
