Moral Focus
Self-Control
This month our Moral Focus is Self-Control. Students will be learning and discussing how to maintain patience and calmness during trying circumstances, especially those in which there is no control over the outcome. Please help to reinforce this Moral Focus topic at home by speaking with you child about the benefits of exhibiting Self-Control. Do you have it? Sponge Bob does Not!

Tardy Sweep!
There has been a great improvement
this week with students making better choices about betting to class on time. Thank you for reinforcing the importance of getting to class in a timely manner.
need your help! Ms. Looke has created a classroom project request on a 501(c)3 charity website called DonorsChoose.org to help purchase Resonator Bells for our students. Any donation would be greatly appreciated! This week only, any donation you make to the project will be doubled! Your tax-deductible donation will have a direct impact on all of our students and you'll hear back from our class about your impact on our learning! To learn more or donate: **Visit the project at: http://www.donorschoose.org/w e-teach/1166470.-1566171373 **Enter the amount of your donation, and click "Give" **During check-out, enter the word SPARK where it says "I have a gift or match code" field, and your donation will be matched dollar for dollar. The SPARK match code will double your donation until the end of the day on Monday, December 12th. So exciting! Feel free to send Mr. Looke any questions. SCS appreciates your support more than words can say! And so do our students!
Students
have three minutes inbetween their classes to gather their belongings, use the restroom, and make it to their next rotation on time. The timer begins when the last rotation is released. If a student fails to make it to their class on time, then a tardy is issued. Please encourage your child to get to class on time to avoid warning letters and detentions. Letters are sent home after three tardies and a detention is issued after five. The tardy count does not start over at the beginning of the new trimester.
You cannot control what happens to you, but you can control your attitude toward what happens to you, and in that, you will be mastering change rather than allowing it to master you.

Wacky Weather
In Michigan it rains one day, snows the next, and is sunny for the rest of the week. This is a reminder that ALL students need to dress for the weather. Middle school students ate not too cool to wear proper winter attire. Winter coats, hats, scarves, gloves, boots, and snow pants are all necessary for warmth during the winter months. Students go outside each day for recess and dismissal. We will go out each day unless it is below 20 degrees Fahrenheit.
Students worked in teams of 3-4 to create a model that made a hum sound followed by a ding sound. They found out quickly that it is not always and easy task to create something from nothing. Students will now work to make a doorbell out of the same materials and try to sell their invention. Next Week: Go Carts I Can. . . Construct a Conceptual and Physical Models of an unknown system. Evaluate the usefulness of the model as a comparison tool.
Dont let the cold or the upcoming break affect your childs academics! Encourage them to get their work done on time if not early! Remember we offer Lunch Bunch on Tuesdays and Thursday as well as No Excuses Club after school from 3:15-4:15 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you know you have a big event coming up and your child will be pressed for time, these are great opportunities for work completion.
